Evolution Online: I Can Fuse With All Things-Chapter 51: The Watcher’s Eye [part 1]
Chapter 51: The Watcher’s Eye [part 1]
Lucien trudged across the ashen plains, his expression hollow. Each step felt increasingly heavy—and it wasn’t just the treacherous rocks beneath his feet.
Watching the young elf skip ahead, humming a sweet melody while smiling, crushed him with unbearable weight.
She stopped and turned back, tilting her head with a radiant smile.
"Hurry up, great one. We don’t want to be caught now."
Lucien glared at her back. Now would be the perfect time to unleash a curse, but he swallowed it and exhaled, quickening his pace.
"So, Great one. Where are we headed?"
Lucien remained silent for a while, staring straight ahead. Then he spoke after a brief pause. frёewebηovel.cѳm
"I’m going to the Hall of Columns first. I have business there, then I’ll head to a city. Which city? Any city."
Gayanna nodded.
"Hmm, that sounds good. Why the Hall of Columns though? Isn’t that place inhabited by the Tribe of Steel?"
Lucien glanced at her, his face void of emotion.
"Oh, those. I slaughtered them all and claimed the place."
"Hmm, they had it coming. They were a violent and oppressive lot."
She tilted her head, almost puzzled.
"You managed to kill the Black Wolf too?"
A small frown creased Lucien’s face.
"No, I did not."
"Hmm. Expected."
His frown shifted to her.
"What is that supposed to mean?"
But a second later, Lucien released the tension in his brows.
"What am I even stressing about?"
After walking in silence for a while, he finally reached the woman sculpted behind the mountain.
Upon arriving, Gayanna slowly pressed her hands together, closed her eyes, and lowered her head slightly, bowing to the sculpted woman.
He raised a brow, watching her.
"You know her? Is that Evelaine?"
Gayanna scowled at him.
"What? You think my mother goes around carving herself into mountains?"
Lucien clicked his tongue in irritation.
"No need to get defensive. It was just a question. Then who were you paying your respects to?"
She looked at Lucien and smiled pompously.
"Isn’t that obvious?"
She smiled wider, placing her hands on her waist and spreading her legs apart, striking the same pose.
Lucien looked at her, then at the sculpted lady.
"Uhm... nothing is obvious?"
Gayanna let out a sigh.
"The dull perception is understandable. Humans were never created to be that bright."
Lucien scoffed.
"I am bright."
"And every human claims that."
Lucien gritted his teeth internally.
’This woman! Why?! Why does she work my nerves?!’
Gayanna continued, oblivious to his thoughts.
"If you were bright, you would have recognized the Great Mage! Gaya!"
Lucien looked at the sculpted lady, then at Gayanna. First, the face was so high up he couldn’t even see what the head or face looked like.
Secondly...
He stared at Gayanna’s chest and switched his gaze to the sculpture. Blood slowly dripped from his nose.
Gayanna frowned and covered her chest, wincing back slightly.
"Great one. You pervert!"
Lucien immediately flushed red.
"What do you mean?! I couldn’t tell from the face, and the small cup size on your chest holds no candle to what’s there?!"
Lucien paused and grinned.
"Of course, unless you were trying to sculpt what isn’t into what could have been. You were too imaginative. That’s sad."
Gayanna’s face reddened, her composure long lost.
"You’re wrong! My breasts are large! The sizes are big too!"
Lucien covered his nose, blood still dripping through his fingers.
"And who asked you for such useless information! Geez!"
He turned away from the elven lady in frustration, his voice muffled.
"God! I hate my nose! And who sculpts themselves against a wall and pays respect to the sculpture?"
"Hello?! This lady does?! Because she understands that she is the most beautiful being to ever exist. I am a masterpiece that even a god couldn’t have created. It took coincidence—perfect coincidence—for a being like me to happen! Because why? Intentionality can never create me. I am beyond minds!"
She didn’t stop praising herself, even as Lucien walked into the Hall.
Eventually, she came running after him. But by that time, Lucien was seated and ready for what he was about to do.
He sat on the dais that led to the altar and summoned three things. One was an eye. The other was a small black orb, while the last was a black egg.
Lucien focused on the eye first.
