Chapter 134: The Dead

After a long passionate and sleepless night, Neil finally got out of the bed.

Ileana was quite tired but she didn’t return to sleep, instead she joined him in the bath. Since he would be leaving soon, she wanted to spend more time with him.

Even if he said nothing, she could feel that something was not right.

After the bath together, they dressed up and walked out of the building.

Everyone was getting started with their day, Neil looked around and saw that Leon was not around.

The commander of his army slept very little.

"Greetings lord." The troops and all other subjects bowed at once upon seeing him.

"Where is Leon?" Neil asked. Now that the cold was mostly gone and the snow was starting to melt, the climate was not as cold.

Soon, they wouldn’t need the campfire.

"He had gone to meet Hiroshima and ask if anything happened last night." The elf replied.

"Oh, alright. Carry on." Neil said. He held Ileana’s soft hand, massaging it gently while deep in thought.

This would be their chance at getting out of this place, the mystery of this place was hidden in the citadel.

If he could somehow subdue or restrict the thing inside, maybe they could leave this place finally.

"Lord..." Leon greeted and bowed upon returning, appearing as calm as ever.

"Did anything happen?" Neil asked, though he already knew the answer.

He had stayed up the entire night again, how could anyone have died?

"No, nothing happened." Leon replied. There wasn’t anything else to add so he went to rest for a bit.

Soon, Fay and Ray walked out of the kitchen with breakfast, which also contained the mind relaxing soup.

Neil definitely needed it right now.

He was feeling tired after not sleeping for two days and even doing the mental training.

"Hubby, here are the seeds I created for you." Ileana handed him a pouch, in which the seeds were neatly arranged with clear description slips on each of them.

"Thank you, Eli." Neil said after storing the pouch. He kissed her forehead.

"Lord, are you leaving today?" Rob asked, as the three dwarves took their seats around the campfire.

Neil just nodded as Fay and Ray served everyone.

He still had over 6 million shards, so he decided to leave most of them here, just in case he failed to return.

"Lord, I have prepared some special clothes for you, since your armor was damaged the last time. It is the best among all the 2nd Origin equipment." Mob spoke.

"Thanks, I will check it after eating." Neil said with a faint smile.

All his subjects were completely loyal and wouldn’t hesitate to sacrifice their lives for the domain or him.

So, Neil was even more determined to not give in to the monster inside him.

SLURP

He drank the soup, feeling a cold sensation spread through his head, it felt very comfortable.

After eating the breakfast, Neil went to check the armor.

It was quite light and actually looked like normal clothes yet had high tolerance against heat, and high physical defence.

In case Neil was under extreme danger, then the armor would automatically blast his body as far away as possible.

Though Neil could stop it in advance if he wanted.

Neil tried out the armor, and it looked like his normal clothes. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"This is good." He praised, and decided to use just that. It was at the mythic class.

Mob also gave him a few more weapons, and other protective barriers.

"Lord, are you sure you don’t want anyone to follow you?" Leon asked.

"Yes, only I will be going, just protect this place." Neil said as he walked towards Ileana who was waiting for him.

The time of departure was approaching.

He took out the elemental bow which was still at the 2nd Origin.

’I have killed a lot of creatures and even 3rd Origin mythic creatures, then why hasn’t it been upgraded yet?’ Neil wondered. He had forgotten to check its upgrading condition.

He looked at its status and frowned.

[Kill at least five creatures from each class of 3rd Origin!]

(Bronze): 0/5

(Silver): 1/5

(Gold): 0/5

(Diamond): 0/5

(Mythic): 4/5

"Sigh..." Neil cursed internally, these shitty conditions.

There were no more 3rd Origin creatures here, how was he supposed to kill them?

Even the nest would not be of any use in this case, at least his mythic meter was close to full.

"I guess I can only upgrade it after leaving this place." Neil mumbled. Maybe there was some restriction here that stopped any 3rd Origin creature from appearing.

The only one that had appeared so far was that silver class scorpion.

If the bow was upgraded to the 3rd Origin now it would have been a great help.

It was pointless to think anymore. He stored the bow away and just stared outside.

After struggling for so long, he was yet again struck in such a dangerous situation.

"Hubby, please return safely..." Ileana mumbled, her eyes moist, her heart aching.

She was sure this trip was going to be very dangerous even if he said nothing.

"I will, don’t worry." Neil smiled, pulling her in a tight hug.

PURRRR...

Magnar purred, rubbing his head against Neil’s leg, as if still asking to go along with him.

Neil just smiled and patted his cute familiar’s head.

It was already noon and time to leave. Neil wasn’t sure how long he could hold on, he needed to get rid of that monster as soon as possible.

"Bye, Eli." Neil spoke without turning back, he didn’t like seeing her cry but could do nothing right now.

Ray, Fay, Rob, Bob, Mob, Leon, Jet, Rock, Marble, all of them stood around.

They all stood silently, Ileana’s eyes were full of tears, and in the next moment, his body just disappeared.

Neil was gone in an instant.

Ileana tried to stay strong, believing in his promise of returning safely to her.

...

Neil appeared a few kilometres away from the domain within seconds. He looked back and saw the domain.

Sighing, he continued to run. Instead of entering the Phantom form he chose to stay in his normal state.

His destination was the citadel.

It still seemed very far, but he was sure he could reach it if he continued to run at full speed.

Just to be sure, he took out the Primordial blades of calamity.

While running, his right side was full of lava while his left side was frozen completely.

Even without doing anything they were affecting the environment around him.

Without resting, Neil continued to run at full speed for hours. When he got too tired he would just slow down and then sprint again.

Glancing back, Neil could no longer see his domain, and the citadel still seemed so far away.

He had some food packed in his storage in advance.

As the night approached, he sat on a stone and ate. The silence of the surroundings was disturbing but Neil wasn’t much affected.

"Nemo, everything is fine there, right?" he asked upon finishing the food.

"Yes, master, there are no problems." Nemo replied.

Neil nodded. After putting away the utensils he started to walk, his feet sinking into the snow.

Many thoughts flashed through his mind. The sky looked the same as always, the surroundings were lit.

After walking for ten or so minutes, Neil was startled as he suddenly saw a shadow in the distance.

The blades materialised as he got ready to attack, seeing the figure in the distance.

But as he focused and approached, his steps paused upon seeing what that big shadow actually was.

"Magma Bima?" his eyes widened, the large magma bima just stood there, looking at Neil.

There were more shadows.

Neil continued to walk. After the magma bima he saw several other beasts, the lizard men, the humans.

All of them were killed by him.

As Neil continued to walk, his heart pumping madly, at the end he also saw the humans that were recently killed in the settlement.

Taking a deep breath he calmed his mind, he wouldn’t let this thing mess with his mind again.

Creating a bullet of fluid, he shot it towards one of the shadows and it just passed through it.

So this was probably just an illusion, someone was definitely trying to mess with his mind.

He sprinted forward, the weapons turning back into tattoos.

The citadel now actually looked close, just a few more kilometres.

But as he got closer, the same figures appeared before him again, and at the front stood the humans who had died recently.

"Why have... you killed us?" their voices sounded twisted, as the surroundings grew darker.

Neil’s heart was beating rapidly, it really looked like a horror scene.

He created another liquid bullet and shot it towards one of the beasts and...

TUK!

Instead of passing through, the bullet actually pierced through its chest, blood splashing around.

’What... the hell?’ Neil was shocked as he pulled out his weapons, the figures quickly surrounded him.

Their strength was way higher than when they were alive. There were even frost bears, centipedes and everything he had killed.

Even the two beast kings.

And at once all of them attacked Neil, launching from all sides.

Swinging the blades, Neil cut the opponents at the front, the blades tearing their flesh.

Several opponents attacked him, but none were able to break through the shield of chains.

THUD

The blades struck into the frost bear king and centipede king, one’s body was filled with lava while the other was being frozen.

While at the same time, bullet drops rained down on the other figures.

Neil felt his mind filled with confusion, all he thought was to kill them.

But as the scene before him changed, Neil froze, his heart almost stopping.
