-Trinnnggg… !!!

The loud bell rang through the entire expanse of the Arcana Academy’s campus, signifying the end of another hectic school day of for all cadets, instructors and staffs alike.

Immediately this happened, all the cadets rushed out of their classes like an uncontrolled swarm of bees, each and every single one of them divided into three groups.

Those that wanted to head straight to their dorms and get a much needed rest, those that wanted to head to Section Three and explore the various districts in accordance to the things they needed to do and finally, the study bees who decided to head to the academy’s library, intent on furthering their knowledge even after the many classes they had in one day.

The instructors and staffs on the other hand, were more relaxed and coordinated about the whole thing and often times, would wait for the initial surge of cadets to leave before casually taking their own leave.

Some instructors and staffs, despite the campus closing at 2:00pm prompt, usually ended up staying late into the evenings at the academy, each of them sorting out a few official and sometimes even personal tasks here and there.

And then there was one exception even among the few, who worked very, very late into the night on a constant basis, always managing official duties with little time to spare for her own personal needs.

Senya Brunhildr was her name, and she was and still is Vice Dean of Arcana Academy, second only in command to Xavier Chrono who was always unavailable most of the time.

-Screech…

-Screech…

Working tirelessly into the night, Senya’s office room was illuminated dimly by a white fluorescent glow from the modern ceiling’s lightbulbs as she kept signing documents here and there and reading through them, the tiny scratches of the quill pen she was using only keeping her company.

Although a normal ink pen would have better sufficed to sign documents and work with, Senya felt really comfortable while using the quill pen instead, as it was one of the few things that reminded her of the lesser developed aspects of her destroyed home planet.

A bunch of towering bookshelves that were placed behind her was completely filled to the brim with various types of books, along with arcane tomes and scrolls while the wooden mahogany desk she was presently working on had stacks upon stacks of various proposals and documents along with meticulously aligned inkpots.

The soft white glow dimly outlining her lithe figure despite her seemingly being in her late fifties, it soon became noticeable that Senya’s meticulously coiffed shoulder length black hair had been loosened and let down, revealing that her hair was actually far longer as it reached all the way to the mid-section of her back.

Continuously filtering through important documents and proposals that she needed to respond to, her eyes soon landed on a proposal left by the Student Council.

Ensuring to approve the document she was previously reading through before now picking up the one that had caught her interest, Senya began to peruse through its contents.

After reading through it for a few more seconds, the middle-aged woman let out a tired sigh.

"Another unexpected occurrence again…" she mumbled to herself.

Following this, she approved the document with a red ink instead as opposed to the black ink she had mostly been using, indicating that it was of utmost importance that it was taken up as soon as possible.

Setting it aside atop a few more major documents that she had also assigned utmost importance to, the beautiful middle-aged woman kept toiling tirelessly into the night and eventually, at around 11:30pm, she was done with all that she needed to do for the day.

Removing the glasses framing her brown eyes that exuded timeless wisdom and placing it atop her now sorted out desk, Senya reclined into the comfort of her brown leather chair while heaving a sigh of utter relief.

It was very rare for her to be done with all her work for the day because usually, the things she needed to work on would spill into the next day, adding even more to her workload and tasks to perform.

That was why her current respite was one she was absolutely going to relish in.

As she kept relaxing on the chair, a transformation slowly began to occur in Senya’s appearance.

Starting with the fine lines and freckles on her face that slowly began to recede and disappear as if it never existed to reveal ornately and beautifully designed rune marks on her face, her brown eyes slowly also changed into a dull grey color and her black hair with strands of grey, began to transform into a beautiful burgundy with streaks of bright orange mixed in.

Right now, Senya Brunhildr legitimately looked more stunning than most women did in their early twenties and her currently otherworldly appearance due to the valkyrian runes on her face only seemed to emphasize her beauty even further.

Raising her hands up, the now seemingly twenty-year old lady snapped two of her fingers and immediately, the lights of the room suddenly became a bit brighter as her eyes landed upon a young man who seemed to be in his late twenties sitting on the couch a few meters away from her desk.

Looking at the man with snow-white hair and a very light shade of ocean-blue melded to it, Senya shook her head in resignation without even shifting from her reclined position, her dull grey eyes seemingly unsurprised by the way he suddenly showed up in her office.

With an unreadable smile on his face, Xavier casually summoned a peculiar bottle of wine out of thin air, along with two golden cups which had beautiful crystals adorned into its very framework and some valkyrian runes on it.

"Is that what I think it is?!" Senya suddenly sat up straight from her chair as she asked Xavier with twinkling eyes, a bit of disbelief present in her tone.

"You bet it is" Xavier answered calmly as he placed the two cups on the small glass table while beginning to fill them up with the wine whose color had a deep rich hue, reminiscent of a velvety sunset.

Without even waiting a moment more, Senya blinked out of existence and reappeared almost immediately on the couch opposite Xavier with a gleeful expression on her face.

Lifting one of the cups to her lips instantly and taking a sip out of the rich liquor, the Valkyrie’s palate was treated to a harmonious symphony of flavors, from dark cherries and blackcurrants to hints of smoky vanilla, culminating in a finish as smooth and exhilarating as the times her and her kin would glide through the skies of their home planet.

That was until before Beelzebub appeared, consuming, destroying and razing all of it to the ground, leaving only a minute few survivors, her included.

Savoring the taste of the Swordmaiden’s Serenade which she had genuinely thought she would never get to taste ever again with a bittersweet expression on her face, Senya opened her eyes to watch as Xavier also took a sip of his, an amiable smile on his lips.

"You know I won’t completely forgive you for dumping all of your work on me though even with this" Senya calmly spoke with a gentle smile.

"I know" Xavier replied with a warm smile of his own.

"But at least it should be enough to appease you for now…" the enigmatic man added, simultaneously retrieving a few more bottles of the enchanting wine out of thin air and placing it on the glass table.

"Fair enough" Senya replied while slowly waving her hand over the bottles, causing them to also vanish into thin air, keeping it in her pocket dimension.

"So, to what pleasurable reason do I owe this unexpected visit of yours Time Lord?" she now formally asked Xavier while crossing her legs and relaxing into the comfort of the couch.

"Well, for the most part, you already know about them, so I don’t see any reason as to why I need to explain that…" Xavier replied to the Valkyrie with a knowing smile.

"True" Senya responded, her thoughts running back to the day of the Entrance Exams when she had sensed a familiar energy from both Aiden and Flynn Belmont.

It was something she had also been feeling on a frequent basis due to them being in the academy too but if before it had been faint, now it had become far more pronounced and noticeable.

"Did you by chance infuse them with more Celestial Prana?" Senya asked with one of her eyebrows arched up in complete surprise.

"That I did…" Xavier replied calmly.

"That’s very unlike you Xavier. What brought a change of heart?" she asked again, intrigued that their supposed Time Lord would actually bestow that power upon them, something he hadn’t even done once in the previous iterations.

"They passed my test…" the Time Lord replied, a mysterious smile on his face.

"What?!" Senya recoiled, utter disbelief on her face.

"Everything?! Every quality was met?!" the Valkyrie asked again, unable to fathom the fact that someone actually met all of Chrono’s wants.

"Yes Senya. They did" he answered again, his expression calm as he took another sip of the rich wine.

"That’s great news! Doesn’t that mean this iteration might be it?! We’ll finally be able to take down that bastard for good?!" Senya spoke with a genuinely happy expression on her valkyrian features.

"Yes. It might…" Xavier responded.

"But there’s another major reason why I bestowed it upon them…" the enigmatic man continued, causing Senya to sport a curious look on her face as he placed the golden cup back on the glass table.

"And what’s that?" she asked, an inquisitive expression on her face.

"I’m…" Xavier began once again, pausing almost immediately with a somber expression on his face as he interlocked his hands together.

"I’m unable to cast my authority this time Senya…" he completed after the initial pause, his voice silent and barely above a whisper.

"What?!" Senya replied in a similar fashion, a wave of despair gripping her entire being.

"⸨World Reversal EX⸩ is no more…" Xavier uttered once again, the somber expression still on his features.

A wave of pensiveness washed over both individuals as Senya’s expression still had the immense look of despair on it.

After what seemed to be a very long while, Senya asked again after recomposing herself.

"So what do you plan to do now?" she asked him, her tone of voice lowered, grave and utterly serious.

Xavier didn’t immediately answer at first but after a few seconds, he spoke up.

"I can only hope that Amael can keep them at bay for now while I continuously keep regulating the intrusion of those traitor vampires, elves and ogres along with Morrigan…"

"We need to give both of them, enough time to grow…" he continued.

"That’s the only way to ensure that this last stand of ours ends up in our victory…" Xavier concluded.

Listening to his words, Senya couldn’t help but also believe that this was the only course of action they could all take.

No matter how strong their Time Lord was, there were some rules that prevented him from completely protecting everyone and if the valkyries so much as interfered too much, things would ultimately end up going south for them.

Those were the laws set by mana against people like them who were never originally of this world.

They might be immensely powerful, but with their power came a lot of restrictions due to their status as otherworlders.

After taking in a deep breath and exhaling it out, Senya replied to Xavier’s words with a burning determination in her eyes.

"If that’s what we must do, then we will!"

Looking at Senya’s eyes which housed a strong sense of unwavering bravery, courage and determination, all of which were qualities Valkyries usually possessed, Xavier spoke up once more.

"Thank you Senya" he said with a warm smile as he slowly got up from the couch.

"It’s the least I can do for making sure our kind wasn’t completely wiped out of existence" she replied with a gentle smile of her own.

With an understanding nod, Xavier was about to take his leave but just before he did, he let out a few more words.

"You should contact your sisters Senya"

"They might be emotionless and reserved most of the time but you know them, they get lonely quite easily. They only put up a strong front just for the sake of it"

"I’ll make sure to find a time to free up my schedule" Senya replied with an appreciative smile.

"Oh and one more thing" Xavier suddenly added.

"Novier keeps complaining that he hasn’t seen you in the longest time so do pay him a visit whenever you can…" the Time Lord said and immediately, blinked out of existence, leaving Senya alone in the illuminated modern office who just smiled in response to Xavier’s last words.
