(A few minutes before Flynn met up with Ivelia, Aiden and Caroline…)

"What do you want Lucas?" Flynn calmly asked the blondie while checking the time on his wristwatch as they trailed far behind the others.

"I…" the youth began and then paused almost immediately, a slight frown gracing his features.

Thinking to himself a few times, Lucas pondered upon what would be the best approach to what he needed to say.

He knew for a fact, especially now, after he had found out the reasoning behind the fact that Flynn always looked at him with confusion every time he and him had a scuffle, that the youth clearly was not interested in apologies.

’Looking back on it, I should have realized that something was off since he always seemed to find my antics a bit childish, even way before he started to return to his old self…’ Lucas pondered to himself as Flynn properly turned around to face him.

’But those childish antics of mine drove an innocent soul to the brink of suicide!’ Lucas reprimanded himself while clenching his fists, completely disappointed in himself.

When his mum had told him to be nice and cheerful to people, she hadn’t meant it as a way for him to change his mannerisms, especially when his mum knew the exact kind of person he was.

Someone who genuinely wasn’t a fan of being all buddy buddy with most people.

Far from that, she had wanted for him to be better than most people mentally, because then, he wouldn’t be so easily offended by the untoward things that could and would happen to him in the long run.

’If I had just reasoned properly, even by just a tiny bit, I would’ve understood what my mum meant…’ Lucas inwardly said to himself but Flynn soon snapped the youth out of his thoughts.

"Look, if you don’t have anything particularly worthwhile to say to me, then can I leave" Flynn calmly spoke again, after which he then casually added.

"My wife’s waiting for me you know?"

"Your wife?!" Lucas blurted out due to the sudden curiosity that took over him.

"Yes my wife! You’ve got a problem with that?" Flynn sighed in resignation while rolling his eyes, almost as if he had said something so obvious.

Following this, the youth casually turned around and with relaxed steps, began to catch up to the others who had now probably reached the Hall and Events District.

Watching Flynn leave, along with others who were elegantly well-dressed and briskly walking past him in the Entertainment District, Lucas suddenly spoke out loud, enough for both Flynn and every other person around him to hear.

"I know me apologizing actually won’t fix anything Flynn!"

"But at the very least, this is something I feel like I should do!"

"I might sound like a hypocrite, but I have to do this! For my sake, and mostly, for your sake!"

"So Flynn Belmont, I genuinely apologize for all the shit I put you through over the years!"

"It’s fine if you don’t respond but still, I genuinely apologize!" Lucas concluded with a final shout, his eyes locked onto Flynn’s back who kept walking despite being the one he was talking to.

The silvery-green haired youth however, after a few seconds, raised his hands up and waved slightly even as he kept casually walking, all while speaking too, with his voice slightly elevated.

"I didn’t take you for an eavesdropper Lucas!"

Hearing Flynn’s reply which was laced with a slight bit of amusement despite his heartfelt apology, Lucas watched on utter disbelief as he kept watching the youth walk off into the distance.

"Seriously… I really expected him to sock me a good punch for all I did but what’s with that casual response of his…" Lucas muttered to himself, the look of disbelief still present on his face.

After a few more minutes of being unable to understand the reasoning behind Flynn’s forgiving personality, Lucas clicked his tongue in dissatisfaction.

"Tch! This definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth…" he muttered to himself with a deprecating smile, simultaneously watching as Amelia was walking towards him, seemingly separating from their group to come back to check up on him.

***

(On the outskirts of the hall where the banquet was now currently taking place, close to the Whispering Grove…)

"Kuahh!!!"

-Splurt!

Watching with an emotionless gaze as his double-headed spear pierced through two individuals clad in black from head to toe, Luke stepped aside as the dead bodies slid off from his spear and landed on the ground with a heavy thud.

This slight action from him was done in an effort to prevent the spewing blood from the dead monolith spies to spray on his pristine and well-tailored navy blue suit.

Although they had been in the banquet hall when the event had started, along with partaking in all the formalities of conversing and socializing with multiple families, now that it had been going on for a while and it was slowly reaching its crux, the award ceremony itself, all members of their council had stealthily made their way out of the hall to deal with the multiple spies.

Even before the banquet itself had begun, Darius Forge and Cordelia Violet, along with multiple other instructors, had been on the lookout for the spies, taking down a fair few of them whenever they caught them suspiciously loitering around the Hall and Event’s District.

This had put both them and every other person they had informed regarding the intrusion from the spies, on an even higher alert but surprisingly enough, nothing crazy had happened so far.

If all the members of the student council and even the big noble families that they had informed were being honest with themselves, things were going a bit too smoothly.

Glancing over to his side, Luke watched as Derek brutally killed another monolith spy with a apathetically cold gaze, the mana bullet from his desert eagle making next to no sound due to him using a spell to forcefully suppress it’s noise.

The gun was almost akin to a silencer right now.

"And that’s the last of them on this side" the brown-haired youth muttered to himself.

"Hmm? What’s up Luke?" Derek soon asked his dark-grey haired friend, a curious look replacing the apathetic expression on his face after he had noticed the latter staring at him.

"Nothing..." Luke calmly replied, after which he then added with a serious expression.

"I do find it really weird how smoothly all this is going though"

"I get what you mean man…" Derek replied, his serious expression currently mirroring that of Luke’s as he continued.

"Adding to that is also the fact that we haven’t even caught a single Obelisk spy…"

Having spoken his mind, a tense atmosphere descended over both youths but almost immediately, both of their smartwatches rang.

Simultaneously picking it up, Blaze immediately gave an order to both youths, his tone in its usual cold and apathetic state.

"Leave the northwest side you’re presently at and head on over to the southeast side. Apparently, they’ve spotted a good chunk of Obelisk spies there and they’re requesting for assistance"

"Got it!" Derek and Luke swiftly responded, immediately dashing towards their next assigned post.

As all this was happening, the atmosphere in the banquet hall was absolutely lively, most of the cadets and even a lot of parents and guardians, completely oblivious to the massacre that was happening in the background.

"Alright, time to fulfill my promise" Aiden nervously said to Caroline with a slight nod.

"We’ve practiced well enough. You’ll be fine" the ruby-eyed lady replied to him with a genuine smile, all while slowly tapping his chest and urging him to get onto the dance floor.

Keeping her motivating gesture in mind, Aiden let out a slow deep breath, turned around, and then, went out to ask for Maya Arendelle’s hand to the dance floor.

This was the second waltz of the day and considering he didn’t join up with the first due to the fact that he was responding to the multitude of people that had crowded him, this second waltz came as an opportune moment for him to fulfill his promise.

As Caroline watched her partner walk off, a warm smile graced her features when she saw how well he was doing with the dance after he had asked for Maya’s hand to the dance floor.

"Dear, you’ve completely reverted back to the times you innocently just wanted to enjoy an event…" Selena walked up to her daughter, her hands twirling the fine wine which was present in the glass cup, all while directly speaking into her mind.

"I’m just glad you’re able to properly enjoy a banquet again" she gently added with a warm smile of her own.

Caroline in return, gave her mum a similarly warm smile while responding.

"It’s been a lot of fun"

"I know it has" the Duchess of the Roseblade family tenderly replied to her daughter.

Following this, both mother and daughter then shared a blissful atmosphere between themselves.

"Oh and also dear, congratulations on having your very first, and I’m definitely sure, only boyfriend, and quite possibly also, your future husband, for the foreseeable future!" Selena suddenly added with a teasing smile.

Caroline just let out a hearty laughter this time in response to her statement.
