Extra And MC-Chapter 153 - 149 - Man On A Mission
(Moments earlier…)
~ ~ ~
"Magnus. I have a task for you."
"A year from now, I need you to head back over to Flenor Islands."
"There, you’ll need to make contact with an old professor of yours. Edgar Wright."
"I need you to kill him but…"
"But first, ensure that the machine he wants to build is completed."
"Learn how its built from him and ensure its efficiency."
"When that’s done, feel free to eliminate him as you wish."
"But if it can be avoided, do not destroy the machine itself unless the civilian casualties can no longer be overlooked."
"These generation of rankers need to face as much adversities as possible."
"They need to be stronger."
"And I’m going to be the necessary evil for that."
"So, with all that being said, will you be able do it?" Morrigan apathetically asked her subordinate.
Magnus contemplated over his leader’s words, a complex emotion forming on his face.
Edgar Wright was one of the very few people who actually saw the untapped potential that Magnus had back when he was a poor, bullied child at Skylar Academy, Flenor Island’s most popular schooling institute for young and upcoming rankers.
After a few more seconds of thinking, Magnus then asked with a calm expression.
"Is this for the greater good?"
"Yes. It is." Morrigan replied calmly, her indifferent expression unchanging.
"Then I shall see to it that it’s done" Magnus respectfully bowed in response.

Opening his eyes slowly, Magnus got up while removing the open book obstructing his field of vision.
He had previously placed it on his face as a way to relax before he brewed up a storm in the entire Monolith main base, all while remembering the conversation he and his leader had two years ago.
"For the greater good…" he quietly muttered to himself while slowly exiting Edgar’s office with a darkened expression.
Stepping out of the office, Magnus slowly but purposefully took long strides.
A few monolith members gave their greetings as he passed by but the man who was on a mission didn’t reply.
Finally reaching the control room where The Railgun was being operated from, Magnus retrieved a revolver and a tomahawk into each of his hand while stepping in.
The moment he stepped in, what he was immediately met with was the vile laughter of Edgar who had such a malicious expression on his face as he stared at the wide expansive, holographic screen in front of him.
The holographic screen covered the entirety of one end of the wall, providing a panoramic, first-hand view of the disastrous effects of The Railgun’s annihilative rays.
Currently, The Railgun had just obliterated the entire Allied Islands Central Government Headquarters along with a few other places and Edgar was now once again selecting a new set of areas to destroy whilst using the tablet in his hands.
Along with Edgar were a fairly large number of monolith members, all of whom had expressions ranging from wary amazement and disbelief to fear and terror of the railgun’s destructive capabilities.
Noticing Magnus coming him, they all slowly began to part ways for the young man, a bit disturbed as to why he was holding such weapons in his hands.
But, considering he had helped them build most of the railgun and he had also been a loyal member of The Monolith for a year now, they didn’t really mind the odd occurrence.
Also noticing from his periphery as Magnus walked over, Edgar turned over to the man while planning to speak but before he could even utter a single word, a bullet was lodged straight into his chest.
-Pow!
Silence.
Instant silence.
Pervading the room, a chillingly-cold and unexpected silence descended over everyone who had just witnessed what had happened.
Unable to understand what had just happened for a few seconds, the members of the Monolith after recovering from their shock, instantly deemed Magnus an enemy and lunged at him without mercy.
But unfortunately for them, the few seconds they had afforded to the brown-haired man was all he needed as a singular bright-red line, akin to a silk-thread, cleaved through the heads of multiple members like a guillotine.
That was {Bloodmoon Art}, Magnus’s weapon art.
Heads rolled in the air as they spewed out scarlet-red blood, all in addition to the instantaneous chilling screams, shouts and cries of terror that completely filled the control room.
Without further ado, an immediate bloodbath ensued and followed suit.
The few members that were yet to be disposed of present in the room, instantly requested for reinforcements and the main base of The Monolith was thrown into a complete state of utter chaos and pandemonium in an instant.
Finally killing off everyone present in the room effortlessly, Magnus moved over to Edgar and crouched down to gaze at the dying man with a bittersweet expression on his features.
"I’m sorry I had to do this Edgar…" Magnus softly spoke.
"Haha… What’s there to be sorry for Magnus?" Edgar weakly laughed in reply while spurting out blood.
"Truth be told; I already knew you had other motives for approaching me a year ago asides just wanting to join The Monolith" Edgar kept speaking as the light in his eyes dulled considerably.
"I just didn’t expect it to be this…" he spurted out another mouthful of blood.
"That weapon Edgar. It’s too dangerous for one man to have all that power. Even more dangerous when you aren’t an awakened powerhouse" Magnus quietly spoke again.
"Your words remind me of those Central Government bastards. Well –Kah! … It doesn’t matter now does it?" Edgar replied while coughing out more blood as he added a few more words.
"I’ve gotten my revenge to a certain extent…"
"I was going to be eventually hunted down and probably tortured to death once they found out so, I suppose this is very tame compared to what I’d have been subjected too"
"Maybe it’s not so bad been killed by an old student of mine…"
In reply to those words from the dying elderly man, Magnus could only help but somberly keep quiet.
He could sense the multiple hordes of incoming monolith members rushing over to his current place using mana sense.
But even then, Magnus kept staring at the dying Edgar, waiting to hear his last words.
"Haa… Finally, at the very end of my life, I’m relieved of this festering hatred of mine for those bastards…" Edgar soon spoke again as his eyes slowly began to close, the entirety of his chest covered in a spreading loss of blood as evidenced by the white lab coat he was wearing.
"Rosie. Denise. I hope I’m granted the chance to see you one more time…" the elderly man finally shut his eyes close for eternity with a weak smile on his features, his head lifelessly slumping down.
Watching as the man before him uttered his last words, Magnus slowly got up, stood over Edgar’s dying corpse for a few more seconds and then, uttered a few words as he began to head out.
"Rest in peace Professor…"
And then, the moment he stepped out of the bloodied room, the bloodbath continued.
There was no reason for Magnus to kill off so many members of the Monolith but knowing fully well how dangerous it was to leave people who could possibly rebuild The Railgun again alive, the man spared no chances to annihilate as much as he possibly could.
Unknown to Magnus though, the moment he had shot Edgar, the man’s hands had instantly added a few more target locations by mistake.
And among these mistaken places that were targeted were Flenor’s Main Tower Branch, Bright-Fair Park and The Beach, all in a random order.
And of course, by virtue of the beach being targeted, all the surrounding houses in the vicinity would also be destroyed.
That very much also included The AquaMaris’s Beachfront Resort.
But Magnus didn’t know that, and neither did he have to care about it.
He was just following orders and although he’d have been very ecstatic if he found out that the brats he had vowed to eliminate would soon have their hotel disintegrated into nothingness, those weren’t the thoughts circulating in his mind now.
Slowly but surely whittling down the numbers of the Monolith’s members to a few fairly strong ones, the bloodbath continued for a few more minutes in the brightly-lit hallways of the Monolith’s main base.
Eventually, after a few more minutes of fighting, Magnus inevitably came out on top while standing amidst the dead corpses of the many members he had put to rest.
A wave of silence soon travelled across the entirety of the bloodied hallways of the main base and Magnus just stood still there, covered from head to toe in dripping red blood.
"Haaa…" he tiredly let out a stressed sigh as turbid air left his mouth.
He had considerably exhausted himself and Magnus was very sure he couldn’t even release any more powerful spells for a while, and neither could he us his weapon art too for a while.
’I hope that’s the very last of them’ he inwardly prayed.
Despite being a low-tiered SS-ranker, it wouldn’t have made sense if he fought for so long without feeling stressed or tired.
The only advantage however was that, given a few twenty minutes or so, he would completely recover all of his mana.
But then, all of a sudden, the alarms of the main base suddenly began blaring while informing the currently dead members of the Monolith about two intruders.
Slightly frowning to himself, wondering how someone had managed to sneak into a base that had been perfectly secure for over the past one year that even he had been around, Magnus decided to make his way over to see what the fuss was all about.
Upon getting into the empty security room though and checking the footage of the room the trapped room the intruders were in, the brown-haired man was unable to spot anything due to the pitch black darkness of the feed.
However, as he kept squinting his eyes at the feed, he soon watched as light returned to the room, the shadowmaws shifting phases into their second form.
Much to his utter shock and disbelief, Magnus soon recognized without too much deliberation the two individuals whom had infiltrated the base.
’These damn brats! Can they even kill an Abyssal Shadowmaw?’ he internally questioned.
’Well no matter. They’re dead either way but… I’d much rather prefer they die by my hands’ he added with a devious smile.
With a wicked smile now adorning his lips, Magnus slowly made his way over to the trap room while muttering to himself.
"Time to pay back a debt"
Upon reaching said room though, Magnus had been genuinely surprised to see that both youths had actually won against the humungous dark creature.
However, without paying too much mind to that, he spoke out loud in a malicious tone.
"Well, well, well…"

"We meet again brats!"
Glancing over to him with deep frowns on their features, Magnus soon heard Aiden ask his brother an odd question.
"How long do we need to hold on for?"
"Ten minutes at the very least" Flynn swiftly replied while reappearing beside his brother and casting his [Force Field] spell to surround he and Aiden, his {Twilight Waltz} still in effect.
"Shit! That’s impossible!" Aiden cursed while feeling the sensation of mana surging through his entire being.
"So you both realize you’re screwed huh…" Magnus wickedly grinned at the youths.
"Pity! It won’t make your deaths any less inevitable!" he added with a rather ominous declaration.
In response, Aiden and Flynn didn’t even reply but instead, had their attention laser-focused, understanding fully well that this was an SS-ranker and they weren’t permitted to slip up even once against him.
"You won’t come to me eh?" Magnus sarcastically asked the two youths while staking a step forward.
And then he dashed forward at a blur, both of his tomahawks cleaving downwards as he instantly appeared before them while declaring.
"Then I’ll bring the fight to you!"
