Extra And MC-Chapter 158 - 154 - An Earthquake?
(About thirty minutes ago…)
"They’ll be alright! The Tower and Instructor Darius will make sure of it!" Beatrice said to her two close friends while tightly holding onto their hands.
In response, both Ivelia and Caroline nodded their heads, trying their best to maintain their composure and calm their beating hearts.
’They’ll come back to us! I know they will!’ Caroline kept telling herself while Ivelia kept praying for both their partner’s safety.
’Stay safe! Stay safe! Please stay safe!!’
Standing at the Aquamaris’s terrace, same as the one Aiden and Flynn usually had their conversations at, all three ladies along with the Adrian, Ivar, Maya, Lucas, Amelia and Bryan, all kept staring at the golden sand of the beach and the cerulean sea, all while Instructor Cordelia kept watching over them.
Normally all the cadets should’ve stayed indoors but Cordelia had made a special exception for the two brother’s group of friends, understanding that they would be immensely restless if they couldn’t at least watch the proceedings of all that was happening.
The other cadets situated in the hotel too were just as curious about what was going on though and soon enough, it didn’t take long for them to also figure out what had happened.
In their opinions, more than 99% of these other cadets genuinely believed that both brothers were either too reckless, foolhardy or just batshit insane.
Some of the other instructors who had also been informed about the entire situation by Darius and Cordelia also felt the same too but, some of them, surprisingly, acknowledged Aiden and Flynn’s bravery when everyone else was running for their lives.
That being said though, they all had a singular wish on their minds at the very moment… and that was for the two brothers to come back safe and sound.
Also, despite the multiple dome-like barriers surrounding their beachfront resort and a portion of the beach, just outside of those barriers were many of The Tower’s rankers.
A good portion of them were busy with erecting more and more barriers while some stood on standby with a resolute expression on their faces in case the ’Rays of Doom’ descended.
The remaining rankers however, along with Darius, were swiftly climbing onto the multiple large speedboats the that had been shattered by the Tower to make their way to the middle of the cerulean sea.
Earlier, after having made contact with the instructors just as the text had implied, both sides soon began an immediate rescue mission.
But even before doing that, they had first honored the wishes they had received from the anonymous text.
And that was to completely ensure the safety of everyone at the Aquamaris no matter what!
After ensuring that though, they had then decided to finally take the first steps towards stopping The Railgun.
Raiding the Main Base of The Monolith!
With all of the crucial information provided to them by the two brothers, they could not afford to waste any more time and doing the necessary to stop The Railgun was of utmost priority to them.
Analyzing the map Aiden and Flynn had sent to them though, along with both of their current locations through the GPS on their smartwatches, the rankers soon realized, that oddly enough, The Monolith’s Main Base was situated far, far and right bang in the middle of the cerulean sea.
At first they had been quite confused when they thought through it well that there was no way, such a detailed map could’ve been present in the middle of nowhere, surrounded on all sides by raging waves of water.
That was unless, the map being shown to them was of an underground location beneath the sea!
Understanding that this must have been the case, The Tower instantly shattered multiple speedboats as fast as they could and instantly, took to the middle of the sea.
-Sigh…
’I really hope everything turns out fine…’ Cordelia inwardly sighed to herself while maintaining a composed gaze, even as she watched Darius and The Tower’s rankers heading out to sea.

’But really, why would someone who had originally been so good, build something so diabolical…’ Cordelia thought to herself while remembering the conversation she and Darius had had over Edgar Wright whilst speaking to each other’s mind with mana sense.
’And then there’s the issue with that old friend of his…’ the purple-haired instructor kept musing to herself with another inward sigh.
One of the crucial information that was actually shared with them by the text from Aiden and Flynn, were the creators of the Railgun.
Having read the names back then, a slightly deep frown had surfaced on Darius’s usually stoic expression for a split moment, something Cordelia had quickly picked up on.
Asking about what had solicited such an expression, Darius had calmly explained through the use of mana sense to directly speak to Cordelia about how Edgar was a lovable professor of his when he was a cadet.
Considering Darius had studied at Skylar Academy too in his younger years, and even spent a good chunk of his early to late twenties at Flenor Islands before moving over to Arcadia, it was not a surprise he knew quite a lot about Edgar… or at least the man he previously was.
After having said that, Darius had contemplated on whether or not to talk about Magnus but after a short few seconds, he had also decided to tell Cordelia about it, an information the beautiful woman had been genuinely shocked by.
But now, as she kept staring at the many speedboats which looked like black dots from afar on the sea, Cordelia just hoped once again that everything would work out fine.
The cavalry on the other hand, upon actually reaching the middle of the sea, right where the location given to them had indicated, had immediately dove straight in without a moment wasted.
-Splooosh!
-Splosh!
-Splash!
However, after diving deep into the sea for a few minutes, they were once again put into a puzzling scenario upon realizing that there was no base of any sorts in their fields of view.
Darius on the other hand just sat still on the speedboat he was, concentrating with unwavering attention.
What the instructor was currently trying to do, was to use the lingering remains of the protection spell he had placed on the youths to effectively track them.
Although he had removed it after the auction events, since the spell was akin to a sort of mark when he had used it, tiny bit of its traces usually remained on a person’s being long after its removal.
After sitting still for about a minute though, Darius soon got a faint feel for where both of them were and in an instant, created a new spell on the fly to get to their location as fast as he could.
Yes. Darius Forge created a new spell in literal seconds.
Motioning one of his fingers upwards and in a pointed manner, Darius slowly began to write an almost incoherent and indecipherable language of symbols in the air while muttering to himself.
"[Rune Series: Swirling Haze]"
That Tower’s rankers whom were previously underwater though and were still quite stumped on where the base actually was, soon watched as Darius whom had previously not jumped in, suddenly appeared underwater like a golden haze of rune symbols.
Following the trace of golden rune symbols with their eyes as he suddenly joined them underwater, the rankers soon watched as the intangible golden rune symbols went far below the deeper sea levels that were akin to an endless abyss of darkness they themselves were avoiding due to literally no visibility.
However, as Darius intangible form dove deeper at a rapid pace, he did ensure to send back a few hazes which transformed into arrows pointing towards the path they needed to follow, functioning to illuminate the other rankers’ way.
The Tower’s rankers, having the assurance they needed, kept swimming downwards despite the increasing pressure and the inevitable nitrogen narcosis as they would have to deal with
Finally, after a few minutes of constant swimming that felt like eternity, they all soon encountered another unbelievable phenomenon.
-Plop!
-Plap!
-Sploosh!
-Thud!
Suddenly dropping out of the dark watery abyss onto solid ground out of the almost endlessly deep sea water, the rankers of the Tower watched in perplexity as the water above them stayed suspended in the small alcove they had just plopped right out from.
Something akin to multiple small rods were attached just at the edges of the alcoves entrance, spreading an almost thin-like film to prevent the water from entering the alcove.
But more than that though, was the large, swirling white portal that was softly humming and presently before them with Darius nowhere to be found.
Without even having to be told, they had all known that the instructor must’ve already passed through it.
Darius on the other hand, after having passed through the portal about ten minutes before the Tower’s rankers even reached the alcove, whilst still in his intangible rune form, found himself in the corridors of the Main Base of The Monolith.
Spreading mana sense around him, even without reverting back to his human form, he soon noticed just where exactly his two cadets where.
With immediate alacrity, Darius surged forward like a hazestorm while blending into the atmosphere, not particularly minding the ugly massacre around him and soon enough, reached his cadets just as Magnus was finishing his speech.
On the other hand, the rankers of The Tower whom had now also finally made their way over, just exactly ten minutes later, heard a loud countdown of | T-minus 7 minutes and 58 seconds… |, resounding through the entire Main Base.
At the exact same time at the Aquamaris, Ivar along with Adrian, soon noticed something exceedingly odd.
Having occasionally been alternating their gaze between the cerulean sea and the GPS location of Flynn and Aiden through their smartwatches at intervals, they soon noticed that the red dots on the map had rapidly moved over to their location, stopping just about hundred meters before them.
"What the? Are they already back?! What’s going on?!" Ivar voiced out loud, grabbing everyone’s attention including their Instructor.
But even then, a deeper confusion grew on everyone’s face as they gazed also alternated their gaze between the GPS location and then far out into the sea, still unable to spot a single boat in sight.
"Unless… they’re undergr-" Adrian was almost about to declare when a strong rumbling sound, similar to an earthquake, suddenly shook the entirety of the beach along with the Aquamaris and every other surrounding building in sight with a powerful muffled booms!
