-Swoosh…

Widening his eyes in mild shock, Aiden was about to question his younger brother’s sudden actions when the notebook, just mere inches away from hitting the lake’s tranquil waters, froze.

Staying suspended in time, the brothers then heard a familiar voice cascade into their ears.

"Now that’s not very nice" Xavier casually stated as he appeared before them, simultaneously retrieving the notebook that had magically reappeared in his hands.

"Yeah well, you’ve been stalking us for months now so I’d say we’re pretty even" Flynn replied, his tone nonchalant.

Understanding why his younger brother had done that now, Aiden simply sighed and returned his own book back into his spatial ring.

At times, the way Flynn’s thoughts functioned, was something that still caught him off guard every once in a while.

Staring at Xavier who had just returned the notebook to Flynn, Aiden got right down to business.

"There’s a lot that we still don’t know yet but fundamentally, they’re quite irrelevant at the moment"

"So, the real question is this; How do we stop The Demon King once and for all?" Aiden inquired with a burning gaze of determination.

Gazing at both of them with a nostalgic smile, his blue eyes seemingly viewing a projection of Zack and Alyssa standing behind their children, Xavier opened his mouth to respond.

"Yes. There is"

Massaging his temples with a deep frown, Aiden glanced over at Xavier.

Flynn on the other hand, groaned in genuine annoyance.

"I know that was a lot to take in. But, it is a quest that you must embark upon if you’re planning to save this world. Our world" Xavier had a gentle smile on his lips as he said that.

"It’s not like we have a choice. You can’t do anything about due to ((World Reversal EX’s)) restrictions and the Valkyries aren’t permitted to just interfere with a world that’s not their own." Flynn ran his hand through his hair, a small frown settling on his features.

"But all that, can and will change once you find him. It’s our best chance to ensure the safety of this world forever" Xavier explained.

"So then, the indecipherable siren call in our heads. It’s a product of that isn’t it? A sort of guide towards where we’re supposed to go once we cross over?" Aiden questioned.

"Yes. That is true" Xavier replied.

’I can’t believe we have to go dimension-hopping like our parents’ Flynn sighed as he listened to their Head Dean speak, his thoughts going through everything the man had just told for the past few minutes.

Simply put, to summarize all that Xavier had said, they would need to journey through various fissures to get to the Astral Plane where Amael was trapped.

Apparently, he had a way to kill off Beelzebub for good.

The issue however, was that they had to do it around the exact same time the Demon King and his army finally arrived.

Along with that, based off of the other things he had told them pertaining to it, both brothers were in for a truly hellish experience.

"Alright. Alright…" Flynn pinched the ridge of his nose with a tired sigh.

"It’s settled that we have to go since we don’t have a choice either way but, opening fissures ourselves? That’s something I believe was strictly Dad’s Authority?" the youth’s tone was inquisitive as he continued.

"And if I remember correctly, which I’m sure I do, Aether and Prana fused together is what grants the ability to use an Authority?"

"So if that’s the case, then how are we supposed to even begin the journey. We might’ve gotten some honestly insane boosts in our core rankings but Aether is something only EX-rankers like you can use. A core ranking we’re still very far off from" Aiden continued his brother’s train of thought.

"Prana on the other hand, is something we genuinely have no idea how it works in practicality. So, how do we even create an Authority to open fissures like our Dad did when those two things just aren’t within our reach?" he added, laying down another question for their Head Dean.

Gently walking around the tail edges of the lake, a thin smile on his face, Xavier gave an answer.

"Well, technically, it should be impossible for both of you to create an authority at your current stage. It actually still is but, you can easily bypass those rules now… maybe…"

Those words from him, caused Aiden and Flynn to stare at the man with a strong gaze of perplexity.

’Bypass?’ Aiden tilted his head in confusion.

’Maybe?’ a disturbed Flynn blinked his eyes, a bit uncomfortable at the thought of a probability of failing.

"The reason for that, is the celestial orbs you ingested. It’s like a compressed ball of unlimited energy…" Xavier casually continued.

"Like an electric power grid if I were to put it in simpler terms, but one that houses the mana, prana and aether of several people and places over the years instead…"

"Usually, it’s never supposed to be able to settle down in a human’s body or soul for that matter. In actuality, it’s supposed to suck them dry of all the mana and prana they have because well, a human can’t house a power grid after all…"

"But what happens when that body and soul isn’t like the others. What if it’s fundamentally different from everyone else’s" Xavier turned to face Aiden and Flynn, but of whom had now widened their eyes in understanding.

"It won’t treat us like one. Like a human. Especially since its confused about the existences of a soul that should’ve already died once…" Aiden was the first to mutter as he continued;

"Instead, it’d see us as an extension of the power grid, something that it needs to supply with energy when necessary…"

"And when it realizes that a part of the grid requires more energy than is necessary, it rebalances and moves the energy around to supply that which needs it more" Flynn picked up from where his brother stopped, a huge wave of realization washing over both of them.

"That’s what happened when we were pushing the railgun from underground. That’s why the changes to our core ranks stuck around even after the event was over…" Flynn concluded.

"That is correct" Xavier smiled at them.

Their deduction was completely on point.

"But how did you know that it’d be compatible with our bodies. For all you know, it may have done the exact opposite if you had been wrong" Flynn quickly asked, his expression darkening a bit.

"Yeah. If that had gone south, we may have been struggling to even use our Series…" Aiden also squinted at the man in distrust, his eyes prodding the man for an answer.

"No. I was definitely sure you’d be fine. I’d already performed a test drive on you to simulate how it’d affect you" Xavier casually stated.

"What do you mean ’test drive’?" Flynn used air quotes, his aquamarine eyes demanding for an answer.

This time though, a genuinely mischievous smile, one that completely caught the youths off guard, tugged on Xavier’s lips as he opened his mouth to respond;

"The hidden sixth floor of the Crystal Caverns…"

Hearing that, a chill ran down the spines of both brothers.

"Still not getting it?" Xavier on the other hand found their sudden silence curious.

"Amael’s Prana-infused sword killing you and him returning your souls back. Your core ranks increasing by a tier. Both of you dozing for an entire day and recovering just the day after with so much energy" the Head Dean casually stated with gestured, open palms.

"It was all calculated really" Xavier added nonchalantly and continued;

"The only difference though, was that the celestial orbs were going to have a much more delayed yet bigger effect…"

"Case-in-point; your jumps in core ranks, you going through all the memories stored in the orbs. The energy in the orb boosting your core ranks to new heights. Both of you sleeping for an estimated month"

"So, basically, readjustments." the man concluded with a light smile devoid of any ill will.

At this point, Aiden and Flynn were dumbfounded but after a brief moment, they both blurted out;

"That was you!"

"We almost died down there! What gives?!" Aiden exclaimed, his expression pissed.

"And where the hell did that Giant Kraugr come from?!" Flynn on the other hand, furrowed his eyebrows in annoyance as he clenched his fists.

Honestly, he wanted to give the man a solid punch to the face.

Stalking them, hiding crucial secrets from them, putting them in a life or death scenario – Flynn believed he had every right to serve Xavier a hot knuckle sandwich.

But he knew better than to actually do that.

Xavier on the other hand, not really minding their complaints, just kept speaking.

"Well now that you know, you can understand that the quest to find Amael certainly won’t be impossible for you."

’Hmm? Well, that’s unexpected…’ Xavier sensed something unsettling in the air but continued speaking;

"It might take you weeks, months or years to reach it but with the orbs inhabiting you, it definitely won’t be impossible" the enigmatic man slowly levitated up from the ground with a gentle pulse of energy.

"But as for learning Prana. You shouldn’t worry about that because, well, you’ve already met your teachers a few times here and there. You’ll be meeting them again very soon too" he casually added.

"Now focus you two. That bastard is up to no good again"

No sooner had Xavier said that, Aiden and Flynn watched his gaze suddenly turn deathly cold as he turned around to face the sky.

Before they could even inquire about the sudden shift in his demeanor, the brothers watched as a gigantic, ominous red slit appeared above the entirety of their mansion’s expanse.

And from it, truly terrifying creatures, burst out with deafening roars of fury.
