Enormous jagged wings flapping with radiating bursts of heat waves.

Scales black like obsidian, yet burnt, like smoldering flames beneath the ashes.

Eyes blazing with a red, infernal light of primal ferociousness.

Those were the massive creatures Anna, Frank, Ivelia, Caroline and Ivar rushed out of the mansion to witness.

"What in the name of mana is that…" Anna couldn’t help but mutter in trepidation, a chill running through her spine, same as it did through Frank’s and the youngsters.

And yet, they were not the only ones to witness it as the workers around the mansion, watched the few dozen dragons littering the sky with terrified expressions painting their faces.

"What are those…"

"That’s not a fissure monster, is it?"

"Why’s the sky suddenly red?!"

The scorching heat waves from the dragons unfortunately, only served to horrify them even more as it felt like they were being barbecued alive.

Some even collapsed on the spot whilst other’s screamed in pain;

"The heat! It’s too much!"

"Someone help!!!"

Considering most were normal humans after all, their state of immense fear and pain was understandable.

One of the dragons, almost as if noticing the vermin gazing at it and screaming from below, angled its gaze downwards.

With a malicious glint in its eye, the creature proceeded to douse the entire area in flames with a deafening roar as it inhaled!

-FWOOOSH-!!!

Anna, Frank and Caroline, both proficient in the use of mana sense, instantly took battle positions whilst the Duchess herself, ordered everyone else.

"Take cover!!"

No sooner had she said that, not a single moment wasted, the trio proceeded to cast defense spells…

Only to watch in horror as their spells fizzled out!

"What the?!" Caroline muttered in shock, a similarly confused gaze present on the Duchess and the Butler’s face.

Ivelia and Ivar, both of whom were still standing by them and noticed the sudden phenomenon happen, shook off their shock and instantly retrieved their strongest freeze potions.

"Brace yourselves!" the twins were almost about to hurl the potions while ordering when suddenly, they watched as the dragon who had almost exhaled to release a searing breath of scalding hot flames, had its jaw shut close with a brutal punch to its chin.

-BAM-!!

"Don’t you dare!" Aiden’s punch sent the dragon hurling straight into the stratosphere, its breath backfiring on it as it collided with a few other dragons, all of them caught in the explosion of the breath.

Landing on the ground, just a few meters away from all four, he quickly explained;

"Their heat waves are disrupting the mana in the air, hence making it hard for spells to be casted!"

"Butler Frank! Contact Father, Uncle Baz, and a few higher-ranked Tower Officials! The old fashioned way!"

"As you wish young master!" Frank took to the skies with a superhuman jump, making his way in the direction of the Tower.

"Caroline, Ivelia, Ivar, get everyone to safety first! Mum, Flynn and I will deal with the rest pending the evacuation and back-up!" Aiden ordered immediately after.

"Got it!" Ivar and Caroline responded.

Ivelia on the other hand, bolted into the mansion whilst explaining;

"I’ve got Briar!"

Quickly, all three sprang into action, using their superhuman speeds and strengths to evacuate everyone as quickly as they possibly could.

Although they still had a lot of questions, that wasn’t a priority now.

Action first, questions later.

Innocent people’s lives were at stake here!

-Shuuaamm!

"Do you know what these are Aiden?!" Anna asked, donning her battle suit with extreme concentration.

Sweat was pulling at her chin as she swiftly tied her long, silvery, light-green hair into a messy bun.

"Inferno Dragons. I have no idea why they’re appearing now but its bad news!" Aiden briefly explained, retrieving his greatsword.

"And unfortunately, there seem to be no end to them!" he added whilst angling his gaze in the direction of the ominous red slit in the sky.

"So we have to hold them back till the backup arrives! Shit!" Anna cursed, picking up on her son’s thought process, one to which the youth nodded affirmatively.

At that exact moment, Anna watched as Flynn, suddenly appeared at mid-air like a flowing pale-blue hue of water, another pale-blue hue of blinding light following with a downward swing of his Katana.

-SHWING-!!!

Splitting the clouds in half with {Severance}, alongside killing off a few dragons that were about to release another searing breath with its deadly arc of energy, Flynn reappeared just beside the two.

"Series and weapon arts can be casted but it’ll require extreme concentration!" he explained to his mum, believing that Aiden would’ve brought her up to speed.

The Duchess was about to respond when suddenly, two Inferno Dragons, released a terrifying blast of searing flames.

-FWOOSH… BOOM-!!!

These torrential flames, reduced the entirety of her newly constructed art museum in the distance to a mixture of rubble and molten magma.

It was built just recently so Anna could showcase her latest paintings without having to leave the comfort of their home.

It had been a sort of passion project of hers for a long time now and finally, after securing all the necessary funds, she had proceeded to build and furnish it just last week.

"That’s good Flynn. That’s really good" Anna eventually replied, her entire demeanor turning deathly cold and her voice emotionless, leaving her two sons with a single thought in their minds;

’Those two are so fucked…’

And truly they were because in the blink of an eye, their mother had blitzed into the air at breakneck speed.

’[Luminescence Series: Hail of Destruction]-!!’

No sooner had she thought of that, something akin to multiple shining javelins of luminescent golden energy, struck down every single Inferno Dragon in her path.

-Twoosh-! Twoosh-!! Twoosh-!!!

The two Inferno Dragons especially, were mercilessly reduced to bits, their mother ensuring not even a single atom of them was left.

As each of the golden javelins struck the Dragons on impact, they would further explode like a miniature bomb, chaining their reactions together for an added area of destruction effect.

-BOOM-! BOOM-!! BOOM-!!!

Flynn and Aiden whom had already readjusted to the disruptive effects of the dragon’s heat waves affecting the mana in the air, also went full-on massacre, a mixture of their series and weapon art turning them into grim reapers.

Considering they hadn’t fought or trained since the last boost to their core ranks, this was perfect for them to readjust to their new strength.

Twenty minutes later, Ivelia, Ivar and Caroline rushed back to the battlefield after evacuating everyone.

Hoping that all three weren’t struggling, the sight they were met with seemed like something out of a hellish nightmare.

The Duchess was ashen-colored from head to toe and so were her sons, indicating that they had gone a bit too wild in the span of minutes they were gone.

And yet, the Inferno Dragons, continued to swarm the skies, with seemingly no end to their numbers.

The cause was obviously, the red and unsettling ominous slit that they kept appearing from like an army of ants.

The trio whom had just arrived, also joined in on the battle, though it took a while for them to readjust to the disrupted wave of mana in the air.

In about three to five minutes, all three got their groove and began to fight properly, hoping that they hold back the creatures the best they could alongside the others.

However, since they had no idea of how to close it, they all just kept up the battle of attrition.

All except Aiden and Flynn whom had watched Xavier fly right into it when it had first appeared.

They figured whatever it was he was doing inside, was probably going to close it off very soon.

Caroline, Ivar and Ivelia on the other hand, had to work together to take down one Inferno Dragon at a time as they were nowhere near the individual power levels of the other three.

This battle, continued on for more than an hour and yet, there was no sign of the Inferno Dragon’s assault stopping.

And neither was there any sign of backup in sight.

It was also obvious that The Belmonts were getting very tired.

Anna’s reactions especially, were much slower compared to when the battle had just started. It had been a long while since she had been on a battlefield so her skills were still, fairly rusty.

Coupled with that was the mana in the air which was currently been disrupted so, any lack of focus, ensured that their spells would fizzle out in an instant.

That extreme focus they were exercising was really draining them too but even so, they persevered.

However, in a moment of slight miscalculation, one of the Inferno Dragon’s tail, slammed Anna right back to the ground.

-THWAM-!!

-BAM-!!!

This immediately alerted the other five on the battle field as they watched the Duchess, struggle to get off the ground with a pained groan.

Blood was leaking from her forehead and yet, she had a legitimately pissed expression on her visage.

Swiftly, Aiden and Flynn covered for their mother by taking out said dragon with a deadly combination of [Singularity] and [Willbend] whilst the trio, rushed over to help her up while covering their backs.

Just as this was happening, three other dragons, inhaled from afar, ready to burn all four alive.

-FWOOOSSSHHH-!!!

Unfortunately, the Duchess wasn’t in the best shape so her reaction time, similarly, wasn’t at its best.

The twins along with Caroline on the other hand, could barely even protect themselves from one searing breath of flame, much less three.

Aiden and Flynn too, couldn’t use mana sense the way they effortlessly used to, due to the disruption of mana in the air.

So, even they, with their boosts in core ranks, reacted just a tad bit slower than necessary.

-THWOOOM-!!!

There was a gaze of extreme panic in their eyes as they dashed forward but there was no helping it.

If they were going to protect all four of them, they would need to bear the full brunt of the scorching hot flames whilst hopefully being able to misdirect it with a spell.

However, just as they positioned themselves directly in front of the flames, time froze and everything around them came to an instant halt.

Fearful of the sudden phenomenon, The Duchess alongside Ivelia, Ivar and Caroline, had their breathing become heavier.

There was a look of dread on their faces, the thought of something even more sinister showing up, making them frightful.

But, upon noticing the immense wave of relief that washed over both Aiden and Flynn’s features as they collapsed to the ground on their knees, their fear changed into one of confusion.

And that confusion cleared up almost immediately because just after, the disquieting, ominous dark-red slit, slowly closed, Xavier casually levitating in the air as he hovered on out of it.

"Good job" he said with a thin smile, directing his acknowledging gaze towards Flynn and Aiden.

Snapping his fingers, all six watched as the Inferno Dragons, seemingly disappeared into nothingness, ashes left in the trail of their disintegration.

The originally dark sky, turned bright clear and the mana in the atmosphere, returned to its original, unadulterated state.

Alongside that, their entire mansion, in addition to the other structures which had been destroyed in the battle, rewound back to its originally pristine state.

The terrifying incident which had just occurred, seemed to have been an illusion and yet, all six whom still had battle injuries from it, understood clearly well that it was not.

That being said, sporting a relaxed expression on his features, Xavier, having returned everything to its original state, casually descended towards the ground with a gentle pulse of energy.
