Extra And MC-Chapter 177 - 173 - Flash Freeze

Frank’s eyes jolted open in an instant… only to witness a boundless, infinite darkness before him again.

The only source of light in the current place he had been in for the past month now, were the five golden chains that were tying him down to what seemed to be the black void itself.

And unfortunately, he was not the only individual here.

Just beside him, similarly chained down like he was, was a young maid of the Belmont Family whom was out cold.

’I hope she’s still alive…’ the Butler silently prayed, a worried expression on his aged features.

’Where exactly, am I?’

’And what is this place?’

These were the same questions Frank had been asking himself every time he woke up to the void, all whilst trying to adjust his gaze to the surroundings in an effort to see clearly.

Not that it helped as everywhere was still pitch-black.

Putting all of those thoughts asides though, Frank decided he at least needed to break out of the chains holding him down, despite how hopeless it seemed.

Having being struggling for an entire month, Frank soon deduced one simple thing.

’The chains aren’t made out of mana’ he thought to himself, knowing fully well that struggling was pointless.

’But I must get out o-’

"Don’t waste your strength" the Butler suddenly heard a voice call out to him from the void.

"I just need you here for one more hour"

"After that, I’ll release you"

Unnerved by how emotionless the voice was, Frank gulped, his aged eyes darting around warily.

Despite having a lot of questions for said voice, one that had at least being keeping him sane in this dastardly place for a long while now, he knew better than to talk.

He was, frankly, still frightened by this whole ordeal and was also scared of offending whomever it was that had trapped him here if he voiced out his questions.

However, he also just couldn’t stand knowing that he was in a situation where he would be liability to The Belmont family, all whom may have been wondering why he and the young maid just beside him suddenly disappeared.

"I know you keep wondering why I’m keeping you chained here" the voice spoke again, seemingly reading his mind, an action that only served to frighten Frank even more over this past month.

"Well…"

"As I’ve said before…"

"It’s for the greater good…"

"Now, go back to sleep…"

No sooner had Frank heard those magic words, his eyelids instantly felt heavy.

Despite trying to fight the forced slumber he was being subjected to again, the butler failed, his eyes closing shut in the next few seconds.

’Two…’

’One…’

No sooner had that mental timer in his head run out, Flynn, whom was the first to feel his mana core active again, dashed at a terrifying speed, his focus purely on Rigurd as the earth cracked beneath his feet!

-Boom-!!

The Obelisk Arm too, breathing the mana in the air once again, delivered a crushingly powerful hook to Aiden’s torso before the youth could react!

-Bam-!!!

"Kah!" Aiden let out a pained cry, the winds knocked out of him as he felt more than half of his ribs shatter.

Sending him flying centimeters into the air, Aiden gracelessly collided with the dirt, careening a few meters backwards without control.

All of this happened in the fraction of a second!

Watching as he took care of the youth for now, Rigurd prepped himself for Flynn whom he had already sensed coming the moment his barrier deactivated!

Before he could effectively react though, Flynn was already in his field of vision, his punch, brutally colliding with his face.

-Bang-!!!

And yet, despite the rippling shockwaves the punch created as it connected, Rigurd stood there unflinching, his stance unshaken.

Giving the youth a murderous glare, Rigurd grabbed onto Flynn’s arm and like flaky paper, slammed him straight into the ground!

-Bang-!

"Argh!" letting out a painful groan, Flynn watched as Rigurd performed the action again, this time with even more force!

-Bang-!!

And again!

-Bang-!!!

And again!

-Bang-!!!

And again!

-Bang-!!!

Seemingly knocking the youth unconscious with sheer brutality, Rigurd raised him up by the neck, watching as his face was painted red from all the blood leaking down his visage.

Despite the fact that his barrier spell was no longer active, Rigurd found it extremely frustrating just how exhausted he felt.

He was currently, unable to cast even the most basic spells, much less use a weapon art, further adding to his frustration.

Or maybe it was safe to say, Rigurd knew better than not to cast any more spells, unless, he would most probably, reach mana exhaustion.

’He’s too dangerous!’ the man inwardly declared as he glared at the messy, beaten-up state Flynn was in.

It wasn’t just him siphoning all the mana outside his barrier that had been the problem, but the fact that he effectively siphoned even the mana present in their bodies through the pores of their skin that was terrifying.

Having realized this, Rigurd considered Flynn even more of a threat than possibly, even Aiden.

This was why, the man was sparing no effort to finish him off at this exact moment with a staunch grip on his neck.

-Grip-!!

Aiden, whom had finally recovered from his own beaten state, had his eyes widen in terror as he dashed right back towards his brother with a panic-stricken expression!

-Fwoosh-!!

"Flynn!!!" he screamed with a terrified gaze!

But Flynn, biding that exact moment, despite every muscle and bone in his body screaming in pain, controlled his [WillBend] spell and dropped a freeze potion he had previously thrown into the sky onto the ground!

Before Rigurd could even react to the action, much less understand where it came from, the conical flask had already hit the ground, shattering in an instant.

-Crack-!

What followed next, was temporal stasis, with both Rigurd, Flynn and even Aiden, whom had reached the vicinity, frozen in suspended animation.

-Fssshhh…

A wintry chill, permeated their surroundings, its stillness, adding even more to the ice-sculpture-like state they were in.

And yet, as all these happened, Rigurd’s cold glare, frozen in time, was directed solely at Flynn’s whose expression was even colder.

His aquamarine eyes, gazing at him from above, clearly stated, once again, the exact same thing he had said from the very moment their fight began.

’That confidence of yours, we’ll burn it to the ground’ it seemingly declared.

The chilly stillness however did not last long as Aiden, inwardly casting his [Reversal] to control the gravity around him, vibrated the icy encasing and broke free.

-Fssshhh… Krk…Krrkk… Krack-!!

"Fuuuu…" the youth exhaled as he felt the remaining icicles on the tip of his hair and cloth, fall to the ground.

At the exact same time, Rigurd, despite not wanting to, was forced to cast a spell, his onyx-flames, rapidly melting the ice encasing he and Flynn.

-Fsshhh…

Quickly, Aiden ran up to their still suspended figure and tore Flynn away from the man’s grasp!

Having done that, the youth, now with his brother safe, dashed far backwards from the entrapped Rigurd.

-Swoosh…

Letting out a deep breath of chilly air the moment he was home free, Flynn collapsed to the ground on one knee whilst muttering;

"I could’ve… died. That… was close… way too close…"

"Thanks bro…" he added a bit louder after a few more seconds.

Aiden on the other hand, glared at him with a gaze that translated to; ’I’m scolding your ass for pulling something so reckless later.’

In response to that, Flynn simply waved him off with a tired and exhausted gaze.

Groaning as he struggled to stand up, the youth then watched as Rigurd whom had already melted the ice around him, similarly let out a deep breath of air whilst staring at them from afar.

His gaze was still as murderous as ever.

And the same could be said for the two brothers, both of them returning a similarly murderous gaze.

However, nothing happened as both parties stood still.

This persisted for a few more seconds and then, a simple realization soon set in for both parties.

They were all extremely exhausted.

Flynn’s spell had effectively, evened the odds to a certain degree, one that had somewhat leveled the playing field.

In fact, maybe it was even safer to say now, that Rigurd was at a big disadvantage.

That being said, the man’s expression darkened even further when he noticed Flynn, shakily raising one of his arms to the sky, and instantly, bringing it down in a perfect downward arc.

At this point, Rigurd knew better than to stay in the exact same position.

Instantly, he dashed backwards with a terrifying speed!

And that had been the right call because just a second after, another conical flask hit the ground from the sky, an explosion enough to take out an entire district block, arising from it!

-BOOOOOMMM-!!

Shielding his gaze with his hands, dust, debris and shattered stones assaulting him even from afar, Rigurd suddenly staggered, extreme exhaustion overwhelming his entire being…

And that was when it hit him…

He wasn’t just exhausted because of Flynn’s spell…

’No… far from that…’ Rigurd gazed at the very spot that Aiden had stabbed him a few minutes ago with the small dagger, noticing the somewhat greenish-color that had surrounded a portion of the skin around it.

’I was also poisoned…’

As Rigurd came to this uncomfortable realization, Aiden whom had already taken the perfect form of a pitcher, hell-bent on ensuring that the batter would never stop his throw, hurled two simultaneous potions with a powerful throw whilst casting a spell;

"[Gravity Series: Grav Boost]-!"

-Twoosh-!!

In the blink of an eye, moving at an impossible speed untraceable with the naked eye, Rigurd, watched as two small conical flasks with different-colored contents in it, pierced through the billowing smokes before him and appeared right in his field of view.

Seeing this, realizing that he couldn’t dodge it to save his life, the Obelisk Arm, spread his mana around himself as a last resort and braced for impact.

What followed next, was a flash-freeze… followed by a battle for dominance between the two destructive potions, eventually resulting in a chaotic fusion that unleashed a terrifying blast that shook the earth!
