Extra And MC-Chapter 178 - 174 - Curveball
-BOOOOOOOOMMMM-!!!
Feeling the violent pressurized bursts of winds pushing back every blessed thing within vicinity, Flynn and Aiden stood strong, unwilling to get pushed by it.
"Krrkh!" they both let out similar grunts, their stance unyielding!
Shielding their gazes, rubble, dust and debris beating them in an unforgiving manner even as the heat licked their skin from afar, the brothers still kept their guard up nonetheless.
Rigurd, according to the knowledge they had, was a resilient bastard who would spare no effort to hunt down those he deemed enemies.
Added to that, he was quite possibly the most prideful of the Obelisk Arms, one that only served to add to his tenacity and arrogance of never losing in a fight.
Honestly, the more they thought about it, the more Flynn and Aiden realized that it was probably because of that same arrogance and pride that he must’ve been certain he could’ve easily taken care of them.
That was why, even though they were dead sure they’d cornered him with no way of escape from the explosion, the two youths never lowered their guard even for a single moment.
Eventually, after a few more seconds, the chaotic combination of heat, frost and wind died down, leaving a hazy, messy mixture of thick swirling mist and dark, billowing clouds of smoke.
Gradually, as the dust died down and settled, Aiden and Flynn’s attention was first drawn to the landscape before them.
Scarred and transformed, the landscape was marred in several places, the earth scorched by the gargantuan explosion and the ground blackened like coal, leaving cooling magma and smoldering embers of stones and ashes in its wake.
And in the middle of it all, his form barely recognizable due to how pitch-black he was, was Rigurd.
Motionlessly standing still, his body charred and battered, his head was slightly lowered.
Even though he had known there was no escape for him, the man had refused to go down on his back, almost as if his pride would never allow it.
At the same time, it served to haunt Aiden and Flynn whom were already at their limits even more.
"He can’t still be alive… right?" Flynn warily voiced his concern while Aiden gulped, his hands tightly gripping onto his greatsword as a bead of cold sweat trickled down his face.
Considering they had literally just fought against the Inferno Dragons about an hour ago, they were currently, and not even putting it mildly, extremely over-fatigued and overtaxed.
The fact that they were standing right now, was just both of them trying to put up a brave front.
Their muscles spasmed and ached like hell and Flynn especially, genuinely wished he could just slump back to the ground and doze off like a hibernating bear.
So, if truly, Rigurd wasn’t dead and still had some fight left in him, they both knew they were in for a rude awakening because truth be told, they wouldn’t put it past the Obelisk Arm.
And as if to prove those words right, Rigurd slowly raised his head at that exact moment, his obsidian irises, boring deep into the soul of the two youths.
It was such a freaky sight and the two brothers, upon realizing the fight wasn’t over, willed every last ounce of strength in their entire being as unnerving chills ran down their spine.
However, as if it was all a ruse, Rigurd, slowly, fell backwards and crashed into the scorched earth, knocked out stone-cold.
-Thud…
Silence descended upon the area when that happened and the two brothers, stood still for a few seconds, trying to come to terms with the sight before them.
The sight of a beaten SS-ranker.
The sight of a beaten Obelisk Arm.
And in fact, quite possibly, the strongest among their three members…
-Thud-!
-Thud-!
Dropping onto their knees, their exhaustion finally taking over, the realization soon dawned upon Flynn and Aiden.
They had, effectively, beaten someone who would’ve been a major threat in the story.
That too with not a single casualty.
"We did it…" Aiden muttered, still coming to terms with it.
"We actually did it…" he muttered again, this time his tone full of relief.
Things may have gone completely south in the way it was supposed to play out according to the novel but this was, undeniably, a fantastic outcome.
One that would’ve never happened if the novel events had followed its course and Rigurd had attacked their Academy about six months from now… one which would’ve resulted in the death of Senya and multiple innocent students…
Glancing over to Flynn who was in a similar state, Aiden watched as his younger brother, covered his face with both palms whilst letting out a deep sigh, an extreme wave of relief overwhelming him.
Silence persisted between them for a brief while until Flynn finally decided to properly respond to his brother.
Before he could actually do it though, he suddenly heard the rhythmic footsteps of someone walking from behind them whilst clapping slowly.
-Clap…
-Clap…
-Clap…
Turning their heads over, their wariness reaching a whole new level, Aiden and Flynn were shaken to their very core.
There Butler Frank was, casually walking over with light, graceful steps, Briar, nowhere to be found.
Feeling as all the alarm bells were constantly set off in their heads, the two struggled to make heads or tails about what the hell was going on!
’No no no…’ Flynn’s thoughts were in disarray, a terrified expression instantly painting his features.
’This… this can’t be happening…’ Aiden on the other hand, frightened to his very core, struggled to think of anything past that.
However, as if seemingly reading their thoughts, Frank, whom had now reached them, stared at them for an unnervingly long second before he then spoke;
"Good job!" he said…
Or was it she said?
Because clearly, both youths knew they weren’t hallucinating when they heard the familiar feminine voice they couldn’t quite place their finger on.
Instantly taken aback once again, their thoughts turning upside down, the two struggled to come up with a reasonable explanation for what was going on.
"I’d have expected that I’d need to step in at some point or the other during your fight but you two are a serious force to be reckoned with! Right Morg?"
As if in line with those exact words, the space right before Rigurd, twisted and churned in a strange manner.
-Fwooossshhh…
In a few seconds, multiple swirling particles, coalesced into a mini-portal of golden haze to reveal an otherworldly-looking lady with raven-dark hair and golden irises walking out of it.
Despite haven’t ever set eyes on her even once since they had been in this world, Aiden and Flynn immediately knew who this lady was from their memories.
"Hello Aiden and Flynn Belmont" Morrigan coolly said, carrying a passed-out Briar in her arms whilst drawing out two familiar figures from the swirling golden particles behind her.
Although the brothers were tempted to respond, it was the people behind her that got their attention.
’Maid Rebecca and… Butler Frank?’ the youths alternated their gaze between the person before them and the two individuals Morrigan was dragging behind her with what seemed to be a telekinesis of sorts.

"Oh yes. Time to get rid of this illusion" Frank the Impostor, casually snapped his fingers to reveal a similarly mystifying lady with beautiful burgundy hair and orange streaks, along with dull-gray irises.
Serving to add to that mystifying allure, was the ornately-designed, silvery Valkyrian runes that was etched onto her face.
"Ah~. Much better" she smiled, angling her gaze downwards to stare at the youths.
"Hmmm? Oh. You’ve never seen me like this have you?" she bent down to stroke their heads in a familiar manner.
"Senya Brunhildr? Your Vice Dean? Ring a ding-ding-ding?" she casually added and that was when Aiden and Flynn finally got a handle on why the voice felt so familiar!
’What the fuck is going on here?!’ they both internally screamed!
"Thank you for taking care of our little sister all this while" Senya, despite reading their internal thoughts, casually stated instead.
This only served to confuse Flynn and Aiden even more.
"He’s still alive. Good. That means he’ll still be useful" Morrigan on the other hand, whom was still carrying a sleeping Briar in her arms, stated as she examined Rigurd’s charred body.
"This has been the best outcome in all of the reiterations right?" Senya, seemingly having had her fill of stroking Flynn and Aiden’s hair, questioned her sister, one to which Morrigan simply nodded.
"That’s good. One less trouble maker off our hands" Senya had a sigh of relief escape her mouth.
Casually retrieving a low-tier healing potion though, Morrigan poured the contents into Rigurd’s mouth, leaving Flynn and Aiden equal parts further confused and quite wary.
Slowly, akin to a snail’s pace, Rigurd’s wounds began to heal while Senya explained, trying to alleviate their worries;
"Don’t worry. He won’t be waking up for another four to five hours judging by the injuries you inflicted on him. By then, The Tower should’ve arri-"
At that exact same time, like an unbelievable phenomenon, something akin to a small, quaint cottage, suddenly began to flicker in and out of existence a few meters from all of them.
-Bzzz… zzz… zzz…
Eventually, the corporeal cottage, familiar to both Aiden and Flynn, assumed a fully physical state.
And no sooner had that happened, a clone of Maid Rebecca, burst out of the doors whilst asking;
"Is their battle over?!"
"Ah~. There she is. The resident battle maniac" Senya chuckled as she watched her sister whom was painted from head to toe in the ashes of a few Inferno Dragons she had probably gone to deal with.
"Hello Sigrun" Morrigan on the other hand, casually greeted her sister, her tone of choice chill as ever.
At this point, Aiden and Flynn, despite already piecing together what this sudden crazy scenario was, said nothing, all of their emotions bubbling from within.
Slowly standing up, a vein popping on both of their foreheads, they drew in a few calm breaths.
And then, as all three Valkyries stared in mild amusement, they watched as the two youths exhaled and then, with a strong hint of fierceness to their tone, demanded for an answer!
"What the fuck is going on here?!"
