The streets in the Nations of Arcanora were deserted.

Not a single civilian could be seen in sight across all five nations, essentially turning the entire world into a desolate, unsettling ghost town.

Yet, in the absence of the already evacuated citizens, all of whom were secured in the deep underground bunkers across their respective nations, Rankers were strategically assigned and situated to various places.

The atmosphere in the air, despite everywhere been mostly empty, was very uneasy, an omen of dire things to come.

That said, Qilos Republic, the smallest of the Five Nations, was the only outlier this time in regards to the desolate feel other nations had.

Rather, the atmosphere here was more tense than uneasy and the city streets were populated with rankers, everywhere.

Due to the Frontlines being where invasion would start from, the highest number of rankers were assigned to the small nation for obvious reasons.

As most of the powerhouses of the world (most of whom were now currently SS-tiered and above), banded themselves over to the frosty sea shores of Qilos Republic though, their number in tens of thousands, they watched the crimson horizon from afar, waiting in tense anticipation for the inevitable to start.

And yet, at the forefront of them all, wasn’t the leaders of the respective nations, and neither was it the Tower’s Executives.

Rather, it was Magnus, along with the other Arms of Obelisk, waiting, to lead the charge.

The reason for this was very important, one Aiden and Flynn, along with the Valkyries had informed them all of a few days back at the conference in preparation for the invasion.

Due to that, no one was questioning their current positions.

As for the brothers’ friends and families, most, with the exception of their Father and Mother, along with the King, Queen, Dukes and Duchesses from the Monarchy, were assigned to stay back in Qilos Republic to repel the demons from breaking through to other nations.

As a result, Aiden and Flynn’s friend group, watched on from a bit further, all of them standing atop a small building.

Similarly, a bunch of other S-tiered rankers like them, dotted the roofs of multiple buildings while others stayed on the ground, each and every one of them, waiting for the signal.

"Never would I have thought that we would be doing something like this, two years back…" Adrian let out a dry chuckle, squatting as they all waited for the signal.

"This could be the end… truly…" Lucas who was standing, stated warily in response, his usual blunt tone and his confidence, nowhere to be found.

To this, Bryan and Ivar, both of whom were also standing beside him, simply nodded in agreement, a solemn gaze in their eyes as they both kept staring at the crimson horizon, just like everyone else.

"Usually I’d want to say we should be optimistic, but having experienced those brief memories of our previous losses to them, I can’t be, unfortunately." Beatrice soon joined in on their conversation, causing Amelia who was just beside her, to gently suck in her breath with tense nerves.

As for Ivelia and Caroline though, their worried gazes were locked onto the sky, their fixated eyes lingering on, almost as if they could spot something, far, far in the distance.

Even Anna, who wasn’t currently here but also amongst the rankers on Qilos Republic’s shores whilst waiting for the signal, did the same, worry in her eyes as Leopold firmly held her hands to placate as much of her unease as he could, a gesture she was honestly so grateful for despite it not being obvious on her features.

That said, Derek who sat on the edge of the building the ladies were standing atop, casually said to them.

"They’ll be alright. That I’m sure of."

Sophia, along with Blaze, Aerith, Luke and Tanya, all of whom were now full-fledged rankers and not interning rankers like the other youths, also sat on his other end, doing their own thing as they looked to the Frontlines in the distance instead.

"This won’t be the end of them. They’re far too stubborn and far too resilient to kick the bucket anytime soon." Derek on the other hand kept speaking, his demeanor calm and composed as he made slight checks to his desert eagle.

Nodding in agreement to his words, understanding fully well why he had such a strong belief about their partners, the ladies returned their gaze to the crimson horizon, waiting for the signal.

* * *

The air should’ve been chilly.

Even if Xavier had completely altered the terrain and landscape of the Frontlines, the weather should’ve remained the same, especially with the constantly falling snow.

But unfortunately, as the fractured glass-like phenomenon, completely occupied the skylines, its ominousness pervading the entire atmosphere, a loud, noisy, unsettling, cracking sound, filled up the entire atmosphere.

With a resounding echo, one that rippled through the entirety of Arcanora in an instant, all of the snow in the Frontlines, evaporated.

The previously eerie crimson horizon, one which had been looming with an unsettling feel over the Frontlines for the past week, gradually began to spread through the skies, darkening the entire expanse of Arcanora’s skies in a matter of minutes.

In addition, multiple irregular fissures, soon populated the expanse of the Frontlines’ terrain, the demons along with other races of creatures, filing out of it like an army of soldier ants.

Soon, the entire area was akin to a sea of black with interspersed colors of mostly grey and red among many others, the sight, disquieting and terrifying.

Just like that, The Demon King, along with his army, had descended upon Arcanora, their goal; complete extermination of the humans.

Considering most of the demon race didn’t have wings like the upper-tiered demons, the highest of their population being their battalions, only their King, along with his Generals and a few other upper-tiered demons, stood out in the sky as they led their army.

And yet, welcoming them as they arrived, was a singular figure, levitating on the opposite end of them.

Noticing the white-haired figure, Beelzebub, recalling memories from millenniums past, had a wicked grin surface on his features.

Gently levitating above the air, the Demon King, simply halted his troops with a simple raise of his hand, his authority, absolute.

Staring at Xavier who had the coldest expression on his features, standing alone before them, a huge chunk of the demons, along with the other races, gulped in fear.

Despite knowing fully well that he could never win against their numbers, they understood, clearly well, just how dangerous he still was.

At the very least, they were sure that he alone could massacre a quarter of them before they finally got to kill him off.

Beelzebub also knew that.

After all, said human, was the brother of Amael, his bane of existence.

Considering he had battled with Amael for years on end in the past, he had of course clashed with Xavier and the Valkyries before.

However, considering in his last battle with Amael, they had been nowhere to be found, back then, he had presumed they had died of old age since humans and Valkyries, usually never lived past a few hundred centuries.

What he could never have expected though, was to meet them again after all this while, thwarting his plans to destroy Arcanora alongside Amael when he sent scouts through naturally-opened fissures that was linked to Arcanora.

"Vespar. Go hear what the human has to say." Beelzebub ordered one of his twin-demon general with an amused expression.

Nodding, Vespar, floated towards Xavier with gently flapped wings, his expression sharp.

"Human. Our Liege has offered you the chance to speak." Vespar familiarly spoke, his words haughty.

"So speak." he disdainfully added.

Letting out a dry chuckle, Xavier soon floated past the Demon General whilst audibly speaking in a humorless tone, not just to Vespar but also to the other generals and Beelzebub himself;

"Proud words for someone who lost against my brother several times in the past."

The moment those words landed, an instant silence, invaded the already tense atmosphere…

One that instantly exploded a second after as a terrifying wave of bloodlust, one that could instantly cause an S-ranker and below to buckle their knees in fright, pervaded through the entire atmosphere.

Even their fellow demon kin, shuddered in fear at the occurrence, some of the weaker ones, collapsing on the spot even before the war had begun.

And the source of this terrifying bloodlust, wasn’t Beelzebub, fortunately.

His, was far, far worse.

Rather, it was from all five generals, all of whom felt equal parts angered and equal parts disrespected by Xavier’s words.

But more than that, they could not stand the blatant disrespect of their King before so many of their troops.

Honestly, had they been left to their elements the moment they arrived, they all would’ve instantly pounced upon Xavier to snuff the life out of him.

But even they, knew that that would be a herculean task.

After all, Xavier, was probably the closest thing to the level of strength that Amael the Hero, had.

Beelzebub on the other hand, still donning an amused smile, spoke familiarly in response, his voice cool, eerie and raspy;

"Well, unfortunately, I’m standing here, and he isn’t."

Locking eyes with Xavier as he said that, the deeper meaning behind his simple words evident, Beelzebub soon spoke again, this time, his voice authoritative;

"Give up. This will end in the loss of the human race."

"Funny. I was just about to tell you the same thing." Xavier bluntly responded, his reply instant.

This, definitely earned a slight frown from Beelzebub whose black sclera, expressed the same sentiment as he spoke;

"Then extermination it is."

Hearing those words, the finality in his tone evident and absolute, Xavier pursed his lips for a few seconds, closed his eyes for a brief moment, and then opened it whilst declaring;

"So be it."

"Magnus. Fire the Railgun." he ordered almost instantaneously and before The Demon King, His Generals and His Troops could even understand what those words meant, a colossal ray of gargantuan energy and power, descended upon them, obliterating everything within a kilometer radius.
