Extra's Perfect Ending-Chapter 320: Unlock
Holen, the knights, and Kanku felt a wave of terror when they were swept by the vines. The grey snake felt rather uncomfortable to hug, and the worst part was that the tentacle wasn’t doing it gently.
None of them knew what was happening as they walked through the door. They experienced a sensation similar to their first journey through the dimension door, but it was surprising that they felt nothing at all.
After they all entered, Holen and the knight were thrown out by the vines, crashing into the wall of the room.
"AGhh"
The knight slammed against the cold armor, while Kanka and Holen were left exposed in little more than some cloth. The detective had a slight advantage over the boy, as he wore a coat over his suit, whereas Kanku was only dressed in a small amount of fur clothing, typical of his tribe, to fend off the cold. However, all of them were injured to some extent.
Holen found himself in a chamber of some kind. He looked around and was surprised to discover that they were not in the trap room like before. Turning his attention to the vines, he felt a bit uneasy.
Initially, the vines had targeted him, but now they seemed to help him instead. More importantly, they could have killed him while holding him, but instead, they chose to throw him away. The detective wondered what their goal was, but he didn’t have to wait long for the answer.
First, the reason the vines threw it away was pretty obvious, it needed every fiber of their being to stop the skeleton on the other side of the portal, and another reason that saved Oven was the fact that they wanted something from him.
Holen looked at the knight beside him. Their condition was as bad as his; being thrown against the wall pretty hard could cause some damage. However, their muscular bodies could withstand it. At least more than his body.
They quietly reoriented themselves and grasped what had happened. Upon fully opening his eyes, Oven looked for Kanku. However, the kid didn’t wake up after a while. The knight quickly ran over to check the kid’s condition.
"Kanku!"

Oven tried to shake the kid awake, but his body wasn’t responsive. Holen came over and examined the kid’s condition. He ruffled through the hair and found that there was blood on the kid’s head.
Oven’s eyes widened as he saw the injury. He tried to help the kid, but Holen was one step ahead. Holen poured water onto the wound and then applied medicine to clean it. He always kept this emergency kit ready in case the knight got injured, but he had never had the chance to use it until now.
The medicine was not effective immediately, but it would help the wound, making it better than without it. Oven quickly ripped his own clothes from under the armor to stop the bleeding.
Oven heave a sign after treating the kid’s wound.
"The book..." Holen whispers to Oven. It was a very important thing after all.
"Shit!"
The knight realized the question and searched for it, but amidst all the chaos, he had lost sight of it. More accurately, the vines had stolen it the moment they entered the portal.
"Where is it?"
Jell asked, having arrived a bit late from the recovery. His eyes darted around the room and finally found the book. across the room, Athan the immortal was running with both of the books.
The room they were in was a weird place. It was a circular chamber with no window on the wall. However, there was a giant circle glass dome on the ceiling shining moonlight into the room below.
The brightest spot of moonlight filled the center of the room. A nearly white circle formed on the floor where the moonlight struck, and above it, a ring floated in mid-air, seemingly suspended with no support holding it in place.
A large circular object was supporting another structure. Numerous strings connected the inner circle to the center of the ring. In the middle of all this was a big square box, suspended by all the strings. It looked completely blank, even though the moon light was shining directly on it.
"Get it back!" Holen ordered "Before the vines monster finished dealing with the skeleton. I’ll protect Kanku for you"
Oven was feeling conflicted but ultimately decided to leave. All of his friends’ sacrifices would be in vain if a random person could steal their book. Jell also had no choice; from a quick glance, it was clear that this room had no escape route. The best-case scenario was that they would retrieve the book and use it to threaten the vines with its destruction, as the vines cared deeply about the book.
Athan was much faster, he knew exactly what he needed to do with these two books. He had been after it for a while now but information about both of these was rather rare and incomplete.
One of the two options was difficult to get since he could be trapped by the statue. To counter this, he intentionally released that information as bait for others. However, he didn’t expect it to come so easily.
He quickly ran into the circle in the middle of the room. Then, from the two books, he layered them together, making the book shine brighter than before. Both books started to merge together, becoming one.
"Get back!"
Holen observed the situation from a distance and felt uneasy about what he saw. However, the knights were now so close that it was difficult for them to follow his command to stay back. Oven, fully dedicated to the task, completely ignored the order, while Jell took a step back. The rules regarding dealing with mysticism still apply in this situation.
Then the merge of the two books was complete. The light exploded and scattered across the whole room. Jell, Oven, and Holen used their arms to shield themselves from the ensuing impact.
However, the explosion that seemed capable of killing them all resulted in nothing. Oven was in disbelief; the life of his friend had turned out to be worth nothing. In a fit of rage, he quickly rushed forward and tackled Athan to the ground.
"What the hell did you do!?!?!"
He screamed at the top of his lungs and launched a series of strikes at the immortal. However, Athan showed no signs of resistance. Instead, a smile appeared on the long-lived man’s face. Ignoring the furious Oven, he looked directly into the sky where the black box hovered.
"Finally..."
Athan muttered with satisfaction, he lived long enough that most things wouldn’t excite him but this thing surely does.
Holen looking from the side also slowly approached Atahn along with Jell who caught up to Oven.
"Finally, what!? What the hell did you do!"
We still didn’t know what was going on. Oven grabbed the guy’s neck and squeezed it firmly. He hoped that the agony would provide some answers, but he had forgotten that this individual was simply a ball a moment ago.
However, Athan was in a good mood. He smiled and opened his mouth, letting out an answer they desired.
"That thing was a key... Look"
Blood filled his mouth as he spoke, but he cared little for such trivial pain. Instead, he used his remaining energy to point at something. Oven followed his finger and discovered that the dark speck moving around the room was far from ordinary.
The scattered light formed a text throughout the room that appeared to be unreadable at first. However, it can still be understood upon closer inspection. With just a glance, one can decipher the bits of light that illuminate the space.
"Release the night scepter? What the hell is that? What is a night scepter?"
Oven continued to ask and Atahn was in a good mood to answer.
"The night scepter was the thing I’m after... It used those two books to teleport us to this hidden place and unlock it"
"What the hell does it do?"
"From what I heard, it could cause instant death"
Oven eyes widen, if that was true then this item would be banned by the church. Locked inside the prison or room somewhere.
"That couldn’t be true...."
Holen would like to deny such a possibility however, he also realized that what’s happening so far was far out of the norm and that the possibility of instant death was not out of the question. However, when Holen focused on Athan’s face he realized something.
He recognized that face; it was one he remembered from his childhood. The scar at the bottom of his mouth and the intimidating expression would strike fear into the hearts of children. After years of following this man, he finally came face to face with him.
The northern Killer of the case that he was after all his life. The blood snow. The man in front of him was none other than the guy that set him on this path.
"Kill him"
