Flirted Wrong, Married Right-Chapter 798: It’s Your Daddy
James Grant was naturally overjoyed to hear that Evelyn Clayton would be bringing Sharon.
He hurriedly agreed, his words a bit disjointed, "Is Sharon, is her health better now? Can she—"
"If she couldn’t, I wouldn’t be taking her out," Evelyn Clayton was in no mood to speak more, perfunctorily finishing her sentence before hanging up.
She left the bedroom and went to Sharon’s room to find her.
Standing at the doorway, Evelyn Clayton paused, feeling unspeakable guilt deep inside.
She admitted she wanted to use James Grant’s desire to see Sharon to manipulate James into bringing Summer Monroe to Aethelburg.
Aside from this plan, Evelyn Clayton could think of no better option for the time being.
Her guilt lay in the fact that this plan also used Sharon.
But Evelyn Clayton had no choice.
After a moment of mental preparation at the door, Evelyn Clayton finally pushed it open.
Sharon was inside, practicing the violin with her tutor.
Pauline Warren had hired Sharon a tutor who was young and of mixed Chinese and French descent. The gentle and courteous female teacher stood up to greet Evelyn Clayton.
"Thank you for your hard work. I saw that the class time was almost over, so I came in. I hope I didn’t interrupt you?"
The tutor smiled graciously, "Not at all, you’re too kind. Are you here to speak with Sharon Sinclair? In that case, I’ll take my leave."
Evelyn Clayton nodded, "Thank you, teacher."
The tutor packed her things and bid farewell to Sharon.
Sharon waved to the teacher obediently, promising earnestly that she would practice well.
Watching the tutor being escorted downstairs by the servants, Evelyn Clayton closed the door to Sharon’s room.
"Mommy!" Sharon darted over to her, snuggling into her arms, first being coy, then chattered away about her insights from today’s lesson.
Evelyn Clayton listened patiently, providing appropriate responses as the mother and daughter shared a warm, harmonious moment.
When Sharon had finished speaking, Evelyn Clayton caressed her head, "Sharon, tonight Mommy will take you out to have some fun and to meet someone. Are you willing to go?"
Sharon, young and eager for such excitement, brightened up at the mention, "Who?"
Evelyn Clayton lowered her voice and winked at her, "It’s your daddy."
Sharon’s eyes widened further.
She couldn’t hide her joy, almost shouting, "Really, Mommy? Can I go see Daddy?!"
Evelyn Clayton affectionately ruffled her hair, "Yes, Mommy isn’t lying to you."
"That’s wonderful! Sharon is willing!!"
Watching her daughter’s obvious delight, Evelyn Clayton’s heart grew heavier.
That indescribable bitterness once again surged within her.
She knew this was Sharon’s longing, and she shouldn’t be resentful, but Evelyn Clayton couldn’t help wondering, what if one day Sharon didn’t want to be with her anymore...
Evelyn Clayton forced herself to stop pondering this possibility, smiling indulgently.
She gently pinched Sharon’s nose, "But you must promise Mommy not to tell Grandma and Uncle that you’re going out to see Daddy, okay?"
Sharon had just recovered from illness, and the Sinclair family had recently had a dispute with James Grant. If they learned at this time that she was taking Sharon to meet James Grant, it could be problematic.
"I understand, Mommy!" Sharon nodded vigorously, "Sharon will surely not tell Grandma and Uncle, don’t worry!"
Evelyn Clayton lovingly kissed her daughter’s little cheek, saying with sentiment, "Our Sharon is truly a good child."
