Flirted Wrong, Married Right-Chapter 812: Misunderstanding
After speaking, an eerie silence lingered in the car for a few seconds.
Evelyn Clayton exhaled and continued, "Of course, we also can’t rule out that the car was perfectly fine, and it was Jack Shaw himself who had a problem, like being drugged or suddenly losing consciousness... But none of that showed in the autopsy report."
Upon hearing this, Shane Sinclair immediately understood Evelyn Clayton’s implication and declared decisively, "The person who conducted the autopsy was someone I arranged; there absolutely won’t be any issue."
Evelyn Clayton pondered for a moment, "If that’s the case, then there’s nothing wrong with the car, nothing wrong with the person... which only means that it was Jack Shaw himself who let go and caused his own accident."
These words caused even Shane Sinclair to be stunned for a few seconds.
After a while, Shane Sinclair slowly said, "So, you’re saying Jack Shaw might have been driven to his death under someone’s threat or lure?"
Evelyn Clayton instinctively exchanged a glance with Shane Sinclair.
After a moment, Evelyn Clayton said heavily, "If we can find that car, perhaps some mysteries can be solved."
Shane Sinclair nodded, "Don’t worry, I’ll speed things up with the people under me. With me handling this, you don’t need to worry for now. The most important thing today is the stockholder meeting."
Evelyn Clayton nodded, "I understand."
Shane Sinclair turned a corner and slightly tightened his grip on the steering wheel, "By the way, there’s something I need to confirm with you."
"What is it?"
"Mom said at this stockholder meeting, your identity will be revealed to everyone." Shane Sinclair chose his words cautiously, "At that time, the fact that you’re not biologically a Sinclair daughter couldn’t be kept secret."
Pauline Warren had Shane Sinclair emphasize Evelyn Clayton’s adopted daughter status, and Shane Sinclair pondered repeatedly, unsure of how to bring this up.
He was afraid Evelyn Clayton would feel excluded by the Sinclair Family and feared hurting her feelings.
So he came up with this way to first check Evelyn Clayton’s opinion.
Shane Sinclair glanced at Evelyn Clayton, seeing no particular expression on her face, seemed not to have overthought the matter, and felt slightly reassured.
Evelyn Clayton said, "This matter couldn’t be hidden for long anyway. If that’s the case, then let’s make it clear today; I’m the adopted daughter of the Sinclair Family, so as to avoid any speculation from those with ulterior motives."
Shane Sinclair silently breathed a sigh of relief.
With Evelyn Clayton’s words, he felt at ease.
Evelyn Clayton noticed Shane Sinclair’s subtle change and couldn’t help but chuckle, "Brother, why do you seem more nervous than I am?"
"Oh, I’m just worried that once the Chandler Family knows, they might do something unfavorable to you." Shane Sinclair said calmly, "Even though Aunt is there, Aunt’s current relationship with Arthur Chandler is just so-so, so I can’t be sure..."
Evelyn Clayton smiled and lowered her gaze, "There’s nothing to worry about. Some people, sooner or later, have to meet, and sooner or later will have to confront each other."
As she spoke, Evelyn Clayton adjusted her expression and smiled at Shane Sinclair, "If you think it’s inappropriate to announce my adopted status in front of me, I don’t mind introducing myself."
Upon hearing this, Shane Sinclair paused and looked at Evelyn Clayton, seeing her smiling lightly, with understanding in her eyes, he felt a bit awkward.
She understood...
But from her demeanor, Evelyn Clayton seemed to be telling him she didn’t mind.
Feeling slightly flustered, Shane Sinclair hurriedly said, "I didn’t mean anything else, it’s just—"
"I know, brother." Evelyn Clayton gently interrupted Shane Sinclair, "I won’t overthink this, and you don’t need to be nervous. We’ve been a family for so many years; there’s no way I’d misunderstand you over such a trivial matter."
