Chapter 257: It was an eternal sacrifice

Amelia’s POV:

"Princess Lilin," Cynthia addressed her with respect. It was strange for me to see the Siren Queen speaking politely to someone else. "You have to get back to your land before your mother sends her troops here. I don’t want to get in a war with your mother—"

"That is your problem, not mine!" Lilin yelled at the Queen and shook me. She is yelling at our Queen! Generally, no one has the nerve to raise their voices at the Siren Queen. "I won’t let him kill my lover. I will do everything and anything to save him! But unfortunately, I can’t battle with Theodore as he is an Anti-Angel like me."

Lilin got bleak after that. Then I realized that she was doing this for her love. She is willing to stay in this dungeon just to change Theo’s mind. Even though I disliked her, I respected her love.

"Princess Lilin," Cynthia said and clasped her hands together. "Please have faith in me. I will not let my son harm your lover’s land. But please go back to your realm now, or else your mother will wage war at us."

"I don’t trust you," Lilin said straightaway. "You people definitely can’t stop him!"

"Yes, we can," Cynthia said in a confident tone even though deep down she had no faith in her words. This is what she does to her subjects!

She makes fake promises to them, and she convinces them temporarily. Later she always finds a way to fulfill the promises that she had made to her subjects.

"Then swear on the Moon Goddess that you will stop Theodore," Lilin suggested.

"I swear on the Moon Goddess that I will stop my son from harming your lover’s land!"

Only after that Lilin was satisfied, but I was mortified! Cynthia made a mistake by promising something that she couldn’t fulfill. And she swore on the Holy Mother Selene! It will not end well if she fails to fulfill her promise.

"Fine! Then I will leave now." Lilin said and grabbed the moonstone from Cynthia’s hand.

Then after a while, she disintegrated from the spot as black fumes. I breathed out in relief after she left. Good riddance, though! Having one mean girl like Ivory is a very big headache to me, and when there is another one like her—then it is the destruction era, in my view. Now Prince Darius was the only prisoner in this dungeon!

We all got back to the chamber of Cynthia to discuss the backup measurements to the disaster that was about to occur. The Siren Queen was more than anxious among the three of us. She was pacing back and forth in the chamber while Ivory and I were seated in the blue settee.

"How are we going to convince Theo?" she asked us.

I did have the correct answer to her question, but if I suggested that to her, then it wouldn’t end well. So I just silently watched the Queen.

"We can tie him up and throw him in the dungeon," Ivory suggested hesitantly.

The Siren Queen got mad. "Ivory, how dare you suggest something like this to me? Do you say that I have to hurt him?!"

"Not exactly! We can just give him some numbing potion and firewater to make him cool down."

That is a very stupid idea, to which even Cynthia frowned. It looks like Ivory is finally losing her charm before the Queen!

At that moment, white smoke appeared in the chamber, and an angry man emerged from it. Theo gave a furious glare to Ivory and me before he looked at Cynthia.

His eyes were green, but they glinted red when he looked at her. So he is mad at the Queen more than us!

"How dare you release my prisoner?" he fired at her.

"Theo, listen to me," Cynthia said calmly. "As the Queen of this land, it is my duty to protect my people. You can’t imprison the Demon Princess here and instigate a war with the Shadowlands."

"I totally can," Theo said. "Even if the Shadow troops had arrived here, I alone would have defeated them all effortlessly. You made a mistake by releasing the Lilin!"

"And that is exactly what I don’t want you to do," Cynthia crossed him. "You can’t attack the Shadow creatures and gain more rivals than you already have—"

"They were never my allies," Theo gritted. "I recently found out that the Demon Princess and Oberon together made the evil plan to eradicate Celestia."

This is new! The so-called righteous man Oberon joins hands with Shadow creatures to kill his daughter?! I thought Celestia had sacrificed herself to redeem the force of light!

"But that is not the point here, Theo," the Siren Queen said after a while. "Celestia’s death benefited the entire Celestial realm. The power of the light creatures doubled, and the side of light benefited from that."

"But I was not benefited by her death," Theo said in a low tone. I instantly felt pity for him. "I went through hell for the past thousand years because of this. How can I just let them go for what they did to my love?!"

"Try to understand the difference between the eternal sacrifice and murder," Cynthia said and silenced Theo.

Even though Oberon indirectly forced Celestia to die, no one can deny that her death didn’t bring any good. It is really an eternal sacrifice!

"I don’t care about that," Theo said after some time. "They murdered my love, and I will not let them live in peace. Every one of them behind this will be soon punished by me! And before that, I have to burn down a Kingdom."

"Theodore, wait," The Siren Queen halted him. "You can burn down the Ashland. Those Incubus deserve it after all!"

Theo blinked at her while the Queen then went to him and held his arm firmly. "You should definitely kill that Incubus Prince! burn him alive when you go there—"

Then the Queen turned back and glared at me. I immediately understood what she was trying to do.
