Chapter 58: Money

Noa urgently raced towards Rico and his stall.

He was obsessed with numbers, especially with zeros in his bank account.

While the loss of 10+ attribute points stung his heart, he was in a wonderful mood, expectations lifting his spirit. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

So he walked past the familiar short woman, along with dozens of Evolved who stood in line.

Only after taking two turns did Noa reach his destination.

Rico was talking to his customers, but he was smooth with his work, quickly checking through his clients.

His memory proved to be good as well.

"Ohh, great to see you alive, good lad!" Rico said upon seeing Noa’s masked face.

He barely felt that something was covering his skin and was quite used to it.

"My hunt was just as delightful. I just hope you have enough money to buy everything from me," Noa joked.

Rico lowered his brows.

He saw the bow and bones that Noa was carrying.

"You are 10,000 years away from bankrupting me!" he declared proudly.

Fully knowing that his words made sense, Noa snorted and offered his bow to Rico.

He finally gave up using the weapon.

Turning it into money sounded like a better choice.

As for Rico, he inspected the bow, his mustache flaring.

"$4,500 for this bad boy. Sounds good, right?" he said.

Noa didn’t argue, nodded, and reached for his bag.

His fingers found orbs with different colors but the same shape.

Rico’s eyes widened in surprise.

He counted them, then used his special ring to gauge their authenticity.

"13 Evolved Elite Spirit Orbs," he announced. "Guess the amount."

"$100,000?" Noa yelled without hesitation.

His voice gained attention from the Embers around him.

Seeing his expression, Rico laughed and said,

"Close, but it seems like you underestimate their value."

Then he grinned and corrected Noa’s guess.

"$112,000 if I round it up. That’s a rich kid right in front of me. Do you want to have a drink sometime?" he joked in his usual manner.

Noa’s heart skipped a beat.

The only thing that could compare to the feelings he experienced was the very first time he saw a woman’s naked body.

’No debt. No leftover cheap pizzas. No crumbling walls and no poverty.’

Noa mused on his current situation.

Now he could get a new house for his siblings, fund their education, and give them the life they deserved.

Also, he could invest for his future prosperity and use his knowledge to strengthen Velrox’s chances of survival.

It was his wishful thinking, but at least it was his starting point.

The fact that he operated solo helped his wallet as well.

However, it wasn’t all.

Noa’s bag was filled with skeleton bones he could carry instead of the arrow he had to leave behind.

With a smirk on his face, he took everything out of his bag and handed it to Rico.

"Let’s see," the latter said, touching them with his bare hands. "Entire corpses are worth way more, but assuming that you are working alone, this is a good sum."

"Another 100K?" Noa teased.

Rico snorted and shook his head.

"10 is the most I can do."

He also shooed Noa dismissively as the line grew and people complained.

’Not that I would complain,’ Noa thought and left the association building.

Just as he was about to hail the taxi, his phone buzzed.

The phone had a family picture as a wallpaper, and on top of its corner a new message appeared.

V. A. Bank:

Transaction: $122,000

From: Rico Musclejoy

Date: 16.03.2026

Amusement flashed through Noa’s lips.

"I cooked really hard."

As he muttered and looked at the sky, a car signal caught his attention.

He trailed his eyes in search of the culprit and saw a familiar car parking in front of him.

Even the driver was someone he recognized.

’Tifa?’ he asked himself.

’No, there is something off about her.’

"Get in. Tifa asked me to bring you to the bunker. We are doing a mission tonight, and it’s your first official operation."

The way she spoke told Noa everything he needed to know.

It was Tifa’s second, the nameless personality, who somehow worked for her.

’I can’t catch a break,’ Noa thought as he got inside the car.

As for the mission, he had no idea what it was about.

Red Order and its mysterious objectives were beyond the player’s comprehension.

Yet, Noa acknowledged that his interest was piqued.

"Do you know anything about the mission?" he asked.

Tifa, or her body owner, was steering the wheel with a serious expression, her mind concentrated on the task.

"I don’t know. You should ask her," she said and then remembered something. "Tifa told me that I shouldn’t talk with you and I can’t answer your questions."

Noa wanted to inquire more but gave up.

He browsed through the web, searching for familiar companies to invest in.

Then a particular name showed up.

Tanaki’s Mixtures.

’Finally!’ Noa yelled in his head, tides of memories surfacing in his mind.

They also brought an idea to him, as it was already time for him to prove that he truly wanted to cure Tifa’s daughter.

A flashing smile was replaced by a knowing one.

So he shut his mouth and waited for the meeting.

Soon, as the evening descended, and the sun hid beneath the horizon, Noa reached the same cave he had left this morning.

He made a promise to the twins.

Spending time with them was something he deeply wished for, and no matter how the talk would go, he would still meet them.

The first step into the bunker was enough for Noa to tell that something stirred in the shadows.

Aeris, Sylas, and Seren were nowhere to be seen.

Only the direct members were present, including Tifa, whose attitude changed instantly the moment she saw them.

Her leadership personality was back.

She glanced at Noa, her head high and eyes determined.

"Your family is safe. I gave them masks and a room in a 5-star hotel, but I need you to come with us."

Tifa’s voice was demanding.

Noa wanted to read her face behind the thick glasses, but was unable to do so.

So he smirked with his signature flair and said,

"Only if you help me kidnap someone first."
