Game's Extra: Starting With SSS-Ranked 1000-Death Talent-Chapter 57: One-Handed Action
Noa was looking at it from the ground level, his neck straining.
The figure could barely be seen.
Its visage was augmented by the wind as its cloak gleamed through the air.
He tried using Inspect.
It didn’t work.
"Stop aura farming and come down!" Noa yelled.
Yet nothing happened.
The abomination didn’t want to lose the high ground, peering at Noa as if studying him down to the last detail.
"What cold and beautiful eyes," he noticed the ocean-like deep eyes that sparkled like marbles.
Then the bloody scene appeared in his mind.
It came with waves, sudden and fateful.
Every image that materialized in Noa’s consciousness showed him his death, and as always, it felt disturbingly real.
But nothing that he couldn’t escape.
So he grabbed his bow, nocked the arrow, held his breath, and pleaded.
The previous results didn’t change.
Not even the long distance aided his poor skills, and he missed by a long shot.
However, employing the Mana Rage skill, he could detonate the arrows and increase their damage output.
But he had to hit it first.
’Is it me, or am I getting worse at this?’
Noa Osborn might have been cursed not to use any weapon other than swords, bringing him to his current predicament.
At least his helpless attempt did something.
The abomination corrected its posture, rising on top of the building.
Then it jumped out of it.
"Ooh!" Noa exclaimed, watching the shadow descend to his head.
Noa quickly put the strength into his legs, trying to jump out of the way.
Death visions didn’t leave him alone.
Unfazed and unaffected, Noa dodged the meteor-like strike.
The soil exploded in his previous place.
Now he could clearly see the abomination.
Contrary to his expectations, it didn’t look like a humanoid monster.
The inspection was usable this time.
[ Wirst Oni Lv. ??? ]
[ Grade: Evolved Overlord ]
It was a two-metre-tall dark hand with four fingers, and a red mask in the middle.
One of its fingers worked like a single leg, its arched back rising from the deep breaths.
Noa dropped his bow, putting the remaining arrows in his bag.
Then he drew his sword, nodded to the opponent, and lunged toward it.
Uncertainty gripped his heart, but rather than worry, it beat in excitement.
Strangely, the abomination didn’t move.
Only the mask glowed the same way as before.
The flashing images in Noa’s head became faster and more intense.
’Maybe it didn’t realize that it won’t work on me,’ Noa guessed.
So he arrived before the hand monster and swung his sword.
He was afraid that the blade couldn’t penetrate the seemingly tough skin, but there was no resistance.
There was more blood than Noa had ever seen, his entire face and body colored in red.
The foul metallic smell assaulted his nostrils.
Yet he added strength to his hands and cut the creature.
Not even a single cry of help or pain was heard.
The infinite eyes that glowed like a moon through the dark sky lost all of their light.
Life went out of it as well, leaving a two-sided single corpse on the ground.
Death threats lingered for a while, which gave Noa a slight headache.
[ You killed an Evolved Stray Slime Lv. 20 ]
[ You’ve gained 12,000 Experience Points ]
"Level 20?" Noa blurted.
But it wasn’t the end of the system messages, as his entire field of vision was occupied by them.
[ You killed a monster twelve levels higher than you, earning an additional 12 Attribute Points ]
[ Level Up! ]
[ Level Up! ]
[ Level Up! ]
[ You’ve gained 0.9 stat points in Strength and Agility. You’ve gained 1.8 stat points in Vitality and Intelligence. ]
[ You’ve gained 3 Attribute Points ]
’Wait, it was a boss monster?’ Noa yelped upon seeing his additional attribute points for killing a monster higher level than him.
Then he saw the corpse shine in a radiant glare.
It dropped some kind of item.
Noa tapped the corpse, expecting an orb and some overpowered artifact.
"Please don’t be a bow," he pleaded as well.
Four seconds later, the light disappeared and left a tiny object in the dirt.
Because of the excess amount of blood, the ground was damp and sticky, but it didn’t stop Noa from grasping the item with a greedy face.
[ Leeching Star ]
[ Grade: Primitive Ender ]
[ Attack Power: + 1 ]
[ Attack Speed: + 1 ]
[ Durability: ∞ ]
[ The sword that loves sucking owner’s blood ]
"Primitive but Ender? Is this a growth-type weapon?"
These kinds of blades weren’t unheard of, as Arthur, Klaus, and Tifa also had one at some point in the game.
They started weak, but as the owner’s grade increases, their abilities or modifiers improve as well.
But Noa’s blade had no skill or additional benefit.
At least he could change its shape from marble to a sword.
After observing the colorless object in his hand, Noa applied a minuscule amount of mana and waited for the transformation.
It was instantaneous.
The hilt appeared in his hand, bringing cold weight to his fingers.
Each side was honed to a wickedly sharp.
It was a menacing weapon with a strong blood scent and red edge.
"And this shitty thing wants to suck me dry?" Noa mused and walked through dead slimes.
He also mulled over his attributes.
Vitality was the weirdest one in his case, as it was abnormally high when he got hold of his body.
Wanting to prove or find something, Noa maxed the Vitality.
But there was something felt amiss.
The + icon next to the stat didn’t disappear, and not even the system warned him.
Yet when Noa added one point into it, it sucked the remaining points as well.
What unsettled him the most was that the stat itself didn’t go beyond 50 and stayed exactly the same, even though it took everything in his arsenal.
’Weird,’ he thought, collecting orbs.
There was no sound explanation for what was going on with Vitality.
Left with no guesses, Noa reached the gate, counting his future wealth with a smirk on his face.
Ten seconds later, he was back at Velrox Association.
