Getting Married to a Yandere Princess-Chapter 67: DO NOT READ NOW!
In the top ten of the leaderboard, three of them were girls. Keepjgs aside the nameless girl, the two others were Kei: a girl of around 21 with a beautiful face but bored looking eyes and Silsa: a tall blonde with a chubby face.
Currently, David saw them discussing something animatedly among themselves, their glances fuirtively darting towards the nameless girl.
Suddenly, the girl named Kei caught David's stare and made a sneering expression as if saying "What is it?"
David quickly retracted his gaze from them. 'Is that jealousy I see in them?'
Chumiyo who was standing beside him, suddenly spoke. "Heh! Time to up your game, buddy. You do remember right that before the Royal Tournament, one of us shall be kicked out from this claw?"
"I remember." David replied back.
As all their contemplation over their ranks started lowering down, Zamian caught everyone's attention again.
"Now that you have seen your rankings, I believe you get an average estimate of where you are standing in this group."
Seeing everyone affirm to his words, he continued. "Alright then, I have an announcement to make. Every year, at the end of the first month here, each of you are assigned to serve any noble house for one week. We call this the Newblood Trial."
*Another trial?!"
"That's a waste of time. We could just remain here and train more."
The group turned abuzz with their own set of opinions, as they discussed or rather inquired the importance of such a trial.
Zamian asked wistfully, "Considering you all shall remain here, tell me how do you plan to increase your power tier?"
Suddenly everyone turned quiet, realising they had no answer to that. One of them asked, "So that means we are going to hunt demons or something in this trial?"
"Yes and no." Came the flat response. "You see unless the Legions whose course is of three years, ours is if only one year. As if that's not enough,
the Legions experience the luxury of being served with demons and wild beasts so that they can kill it amd increase their soul fragments."
He paused letting everyone know the huge disadvantage they were in.
'That's why the Legions are generally quite stronger than us by the time the training period ends...' David mused internally.
He had already heard of the hundreds of stories with respect to the Legion's bravery on the battlefield. It's belived that if the Legions fall in battle, the kingdom would be done for.
They were just that crucial!
Zamian upon noticing their silenced faces, continued further. "A decade before, Sihapis were at their weakest, almost treated as fodder, no different than the normal soldiers. But that changed when an important man in the Royal Council suggested a trial: The Newblood Trial.
From the outward side, this trial would require you all to serve the nobles for a week, to get familarised with respect, discipline and order from their superiors. It was easily approved by the nobles, who had thought that this new trial would ensure these Sihapis would be brainwashed to follow their leads without questions under their own influence."
A bitter laugh escaped his lips as he shook his head. "If only they knew the truth at that time. But alas, they understood quite late when just a year later, the new batch of Sihapis were so strong that they could easily rival a third year Legion without being defeated.
Upon investigation, it was found that the older Sihapis that had been already serving in these noble houses had been sneaking out the newbloods in the forests and prisons to slay the demons and beasts. Reportedly, several forests were completely decimated of life by them. And the head of all this? That member of the Royal Council."
Zamian laughed heartily as he recalled the tale.
"I can see few of you are still curious about the aftermath...but that's a tale for some other time. Just know this. Even now the nobles know that in the name of this trial, the newbloods farm the beasts for soul fragments. Your senior Sihapis shall give you all the clues needed, you all need to go ahead with the plan and get all the soul fragments you can."
Then he looked over them with serious eyes as he asked. "Is that understood?"
Claw Zamian nodded but as if not satisfied, Zamian shouted. "I can't hear you voice...Is that understood?!"
"""Yes, Master"""
"Good. Now back to your training. You all need to start departing in nine days' time according to the estate each of you shall be assigned. After your return, we shall start preparing for the Royal Tournament."
That day David had the bad luck of getting pitched against the nameless girl. Compared to the Sihapi contest, her strength was now extraordinary and her control over her twin swords impeccable, slashing and protecting her in one single strike.
Just as David was caught off guard by both her swords jabbing at him from both sides, she let go of both the swords and wrestled him to the ground, showing no mercy whatsover.
David struggled on the ground, his ears tingling from the nameless girl's whisper. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"Brother...I strong than you hehe."
"Didn't you already know of this, foolish girl? Now stand up. I am suffocating here!" He managed to rasp out.
