Chapter 819: Chapter 819: Vicious Cycle

Yu Holea clenched her fists tighter. Her voice trembled, but it was loud and clear.

"My father... he didn’t just hurt you. He hurt us, too. After swapping me at birth, he still ignored me, even after knowing the truth!"

She looked up, her eyes shining with pain.

"He kept pampering that woman’s daughter — the fake one, like she was a precious jewel. And he made my brothers... my real brothers... treat her like a princess. Even though she wasn’t one. Even though I was the real one."

Her voice cracked.

"And do you know what he did to my mom?" she whispered, biting her lip. "He made her... sleep with another man. Like she didn’t matter. Like she was just some... some tool."

Yu Holea’s shoulders trembled, but she kept going.

"He’s the one who tortured us. All of us. He didn’t spare anyone. Not my mom. Not my brothers. Not even his own mother! He made her cry. He made her beg."

She took a shaky breath and glared at the witch.

"So if he already tortured his own family, why are you still torturing us? What’s left to destroy?"

Mirai’s mother stood still.

Her shadows stopped moving.

For a moment, it was quiet. Cold. Heavy.

Then the witch said slowly, her voice dark and full of something strange, "You’re the blood of that man. Yu Lin. You think you’re innocent? Ha..." freeweɓnovel-cøm

She stared right into Yu Holea’s eyes.

"That kind of blood doesn’t just disappear. Of course, you inherited something from him. You must’ve. His cruelty... his selfishness. It’s in your bones."

But the witch wasn’t done.

"And it just so happens... Mirai can only live... if you live a life full of pain."

"What...?"

The witch smirked. Her teeth glowed faintly in the dim light. Her voice turned soft — too soft.

"You heard me. As long as your life is miserable... Mirai will stay alive. But if you’re happy... she dies."

Yu Holea blinked, stunned.

"That doesn’t make sense... that’s... that’s stupid!"

The witch laughed suddenly. It echoed through the room like a bell made of ice.

"Of course, it sounds stupid to you. But fate is cruel. Mirai... was always meant to die. But she snatched Yu Mei’s body to live. That wasn’t enough, though... she needed a fate, so she stole the fate of Yu Mei."

She tilted her head slowly.

"And Yu Mei had that fate of a princess... until you showed up. The real princess. The moment the world recognized you... Yu Mei’s destiny broke. Her body became weak. My daughter started dying."

"She tried to fight fate," the witch said, her voice softer now. "She smiled, she obeyed, she thought maybe kindness would protect her. But it didn’t. In the end... she’s still dying."

Yu Holea opened her mouth, but she didn’t know what to say. Her thoughts were tangled, spinning. It didn’t make sense.

Mirai wasn’t dead, right? What was the witch even saying?

When was Mirai kind? And when was she killed? Was she talking about now? Surely that doesn’t seem to be the case...

Mirai’s mother’s eyes began to glow, her cloak rising as if wind swirled around her.

"I’ll take my daughter soon. But before that... I’ll make sure you suffer."

"Wait!" Qiao Jun shouted, stepping forward.

But it was too late.

A dark circle shimmered under her feet, glowing with runes and red light.

Yu Holea gasped. "She’s teleporting!"

The witch grinned wickedly. "You wasted too much time talking."

Qiao Jun slammed his hand to the floor again, trying to block her, but the spell flared bright.

"You’ll regret standing in my way," she said, her voice already fading. "You’ll remember this day... when you lose everything."

And with a loud crack, she vanished into the smoke and sparks.

She stared at the empty space where the witch had stood.

"...She was buying time," she whispered.

Qiao Jun cursed under his breath. "She tricked us."

But Yu Holea didn’t move.

She took a deep breath and said softly, "There are still... too many pieces missing. I feel like... I don’t know something really, really important. Something I need to know."

Qiao Jun walked over to her and gently placed a hand on her shoulder. His voice was calm, steady, like a warm blanket on a cold night.

"You’re right," he said. "But it’s okay. You don’t have to figure it all out now. The truth... whatever’s hidden from you... it’ll come to you. One piece at a time."

Yu Holea looked up at him, her eyes still a little shaken, but she nodded.

"Thanks..."

Her gaze slowly drifted to the glass bottle hanging on her belt — the one that glowed faintly purple.

Inside it, Mirai’s soul floated — a soft, shimmery shape, with wide, flickering eyes and a look of pure frustration on her tiny ghost-like face. She was watching them. Listening.

Yu Holea could almost feel what Mirai was thinking.

If even my mother couldn’t save me... who will?

Yu Holea snorted. Then she shook the bottle lightly.

"Hello~? Still floating around in there?" she asked, her voice mocking but calm.

Mirai’s soul spun angrily and glared at her, her face twisting into a look full of hate.

"Don’t act so smug," Mirai growled, her voice echoing faintly inside the bottle. "You think this is over?"

Yu Holea raised an eyebrow.

"Oh, it’s not over," she said with a cold smirk. "It’s just starting. It’s time you paid for everything you did."

Mirai’s soul narrowed her glowing eyes. "Then show me. Let’s see what the little princess can do."

Yu Holea’s eyes glinted.

Over the next few days, Yu Holea began using soul magic.

She held up a silver mirror and whispered an old spell. The glass shimmered... then showed Mirai all the people she had hurt — crying, bleeding, begging.

Ou Xiaoxiao. Yu Holea’s brothers. Even strangers — bullied, blamed, and punished.

Mirai screamed.

"Turn it off! I don’t want to see this!"

But Yu Holea didn’t flinch.

"You forced us to feel helpless. Now you’ll feel it too."

With that, she snapped her finger, and Mirai’s soul entered the mirror. Now Mirai started to live all the pain she had inflicted on others.

Inside the glowing mirror, Mirai’s soul floated — light and thin like a mist. But soon, the mist turned heavy. A new scene began to form around her.

She blinked.

She was... home?

Everything looked just like she remembered — the grand hall, the polished floor, the paintings. But something felt wrong. Cold.

She turned quickly, her heart jumping in her chest.

"Yu Sicong!" she called out, spotting her brother walking down the stairs.

But Yu Sicong didn’t even stop. He walked right past her, his eyes full of coldness, no warmth, no kindness. Just like she was a stranger. Or worse... something dirty.

"Yu Sicong!" she cried, running toward her other brother. "It’s me! It’s Mirai!"

But Sicong didn’t say a word either. He just gave her one quick look, filled with disgust, and walked away.

"Yu Sile!" she shouted, desperate. "Don’t leave me!"

But Sile barely even glanced her way before turning his back, shaking his head like she made him sick.

"No! Wait!" Mirai tried to run after them, her voice cracking. "Why are you doing this?! It’s me! Your sister!"

But no one listened.

The scene around her flickered like a broken screen — glitchy and gray — and then it changed again.

Now she was standing in the hallway. A warm towel was wrapped around her. She was wearing a bathrobe, her hair still wet from a shower.

And just as she stepped out of the bathroom, Yu Shuchang walked in.

He stopped. His face twisted into a mix of shame and disgust.

"You really are... disgusting," he said coldly. "I can’t even look at you."

And then... he turned and left.

"Wait!" she cried, running after him. "I didn’t do anything! I just—!"

But the hallway stretched, and he disappeared into the shadows.

Then the scene snapped again like a bubble popping.

She was sitting on the couch now, nervously clutching her hands together. Yu Sicong stood in front of her, arms crossed.

"What do you want now?" he asked, voice cold and bored.

"I... I just need some money," she said quietly, looking up.

Sicong rolled his eyes. "Greedy. That’s all you are."

He turned his back and walked away.

Mirai’s hands started to shake.

"No, that’s not true... I... I just..."

But before she could finish, the world changed again.

Now she was in school. Everyone whispered behind her back. They pointed fingers. Someone threw a crumpled paper at her.

"She stole it."

Voices stabbed into her ears over and over. She looked around, trying to find help, trying to explain.

But every time she opened her mouth, someone else shouted louder — accusing her, blaming her, ignoring her.

The cycle kept going.

Scene after scene.

She was always the villain.

Always alone.

She dropped to her knees, clutching her head.

"Stop... please... I didn’t mean to... I didn’t know..."
