Chapter 45 - Inner Branch Exam [Bonus]

When Halted, both were standing outside the training room.

They had their weapon and Qi manipulation classes here.

But the arrangement has changed, there were mannequins, hardcore synthetic traps to train.

They could notice all the students practising diligently. Some of them were sparing with each other while others were training their elements on pseudo targets.

It was a fascinating scene, seeing sparkling colours of different elements being used at the same time.

There were basic but most known elements like water, fire, earth, ice, and wood and also, at the same time, some rare but with less knowledge like magnetic, sand, gravity, mist and such.

After coming to the academy, it was the first time when all the students seemed in a hurry, Harry was sure all the teachers must be on high horse.

Seeing all these elements used at once, a question popped into his mind, why some of the elements are elements while others work as a skill or ability; for example some have the power to attract or repel metal, which then named as magnetic element

Telekinesis, mind reading, all these things don't make sense. Especially mind reading—It can't be an element.

One thing that he could think of was his skills related to the element.

While pondering, Harry noticed a person he had met before; it was none other than Eldrich. He still remembers that blackout.

Eldrich was throwing water slashes and different water attacks towards dummies. His attack seemed more lethal than they had been, more ruthless than he had ever seen.

'Has he improved so much or was he just playing with him last time?' A thought struck Harry.

Don't know why, but Harry felt the urge to ask him about what was going on.

Gracie followed him closely.

Eldrich just made a new attack, making a water sphere, and inside it, water slashes reflecting infinitely.

It seemed a combination of water and manoeuvring it in a way that water was working as a mirror reflecting the slashes.

Eldrich seemed exhausted from using the attack so he turned around to sit on the table.

But as he turned he noticed someone familiar approaching him. He felt an uneven feeling growing inside him.

He remembered their fight, without reaching an elemental master. This person had given him a decent fight, although he never felt he would ever lose to this person at that time, but now he heard that he was an elemental master.

As Harry took one step ahead, Eldrich took one step back assuming he was here to seek revenge.

It continued until Eldrich was leaning against the wall intimating.

Eldrich wasn't afraid to fight this person, it's just there were so many evil things going around Harry that any sensible person would like to avoid him. He is a Soul cultivator, who is way better in raw strength and who can use Qi also.

"What was your name? Ahh.. yes, it was Eldrich. Can you tell why all of them are practising so hard?" Harry asked in a simple, indifferent voice.

He had no qualms against this person, although Eldrich has done wrong with him but that had pushed him to become stronger.

He didn't want to imply any other thing, but the way he stated Eldrich's name was somewhat annoying; surprisingly, he didn't get any sudden reaction from Eldrich.

Harry was also grateful to Eldrich that he didn't hurt his friends and let them go after his loss.

He could clearly imagine some young master who would have done just the opposite.

Compared to them Eldrich can be called an angel.

Eldrich, baffled by the question, had a contorted look.

"It wa...was.. because of a new announcement about the inner disciple exam," Eldrich said while trying to look confident and he secured to do it, no hesitation in his words.

But his posture was nowhere close to confidant but it didn't stop Eldrich from keeping his eye contact straight and showcasing his confidence. He has already dealt with so many people and he knew how to never be on the losing end.

"What exam?" Harry asked curiously.

"Haha, it was in the morning when the academy announced that the inner branch exam would be held after this month.

Usually, it happens every 3 years, but it only has been 2 years since the last exam; no one knows the exact reason for this hastiness." Eldrich said now in a more comfortable position.

"Did you hear any announcement in the morning"

Harry asked Gracie with a confused look.

"I have no idea", Gracie said, shrugging her shoulders.

"It was broadcasted everywhere in the academy, only those who were cultivating or were inside their room didn't hear it.

"Ohh.. so that's the case" Harry mumbled.

He was struggling in a room, hanging between life and death; how could he know?

Then his mind drifted to the information; the inner branch exam happens every 3 years. Then what's different this time? Is it because of Dakis or some power games? He didn't consider thinking about these mind-boggling things; he was more curious about the exam itself.

"What about previous exams? Do you know anything about it, and what level is sure to be selected," Harry asked Hoping to get any information.

It wasn't appropriate to just go and bulldoze the person with so many questions, but Eldrich was giving him the vibe of an easygoing person.

"These exams always take place in private arrangements, so there was not much information available, but normally, people on elemental master level 5 are sure to get accepted as disciples.

But considering there was not much time to prepare this time, it should be easier to pass," Eldrich said, lost in deep thoughts.

"But unlike last time, they strictly said that everyone needs to participate, while in previous exams, it was not necessary.

"Alright, thank you for the help" Harry greeted and left.

Eldrich was happy and also impressed by Harry's personality. "At least he was not full of ego just after becoming an elemental master", Eldrich mumbled.

He has seen so many students seeking to fight just after getting a taste of power, but they often forget that whom you are targeting has also tasted the fruit and for a much longer duration.

"What happened," Gracie asked, seeing Harry pondering.

They returned to their sparring room.

"Ahh... I was thinking of ways to increase our power" Harry jolted out of his thoughts and said.

"hmm.. you are right we can't increase cultivation much in a short time, but increasing our battle efficiency and taking practical experience can help us." Gracie proposed the idea.

Harry would have loved to improve his cultivation in the tower but he couldn't.

Just improving his cultivation won't help him without practical knowledge, the essence of fight, there could be many variables in battle.

"If just there would have been a VR game to improve our battle mastery", Harry murmured.

"What.? VR, What is it?" Gracie asked, hearing unusual words.

"Never mind".
