Yang Yi finally understood why Suna was in such a good mood.

She had come up with a promising theory about the intangible, untouchable essence of magic, Magus, and it actually seemed plausible. Which meant… she could be able to craft a potion similar to the super magic potion. That was fantastic news!

The two of them worked nonstop until dusk, and at last, the greatsword and tower shields were completed.

Now that they had refined their forging techniques, both efficiency and energy consumption had significantly improved. With that, aside from the reserved greatsword and five shields, the other thirty-six crystallised equipment pieces had all been sold.

Thirty of them had gone for 20,000 Shell Coins apiece. Two were sold at their original price without any haggling. And four more went for slightly more than 20,000 after minor price negotiations.

Total income: 740,000 Shell Coins.

Yang Yi’s balance now stood at 1.78 million, enough for him to seriously plan a round of purchasing.

But there was still some bad news: the watchtower’s scan had once again turned up nothing. It wasn’t clear whether it was just bad luck, a poor route, or simply that this section of the sea was this barren.

In any case, getting rich off lumber seemed unlikely. By evening, the price of wood had already dropped to 7 Shell Coins per unit.

From player chatter, Yang Yi learned that most of the islands in this “safe sea zone” were quite lush, meaning an oversupply of wood was inevitable. At that rate, the price could dip as low as 4 or even 3 Shell Coins.

Yang Yi decided he’d stockpile a large amount once prices hit rock bottom, to prepare for upgrading his ship to level four.

With nightfall less than an hour away, Yang Yi made use of the remaining light to cast his fishing line. In under five minutes, he got a bite, breaking his personal record for fastest catch.

Seeing the plump, round figure under the surface, Yang Yi thought he’d hooked another one of those adorably fat sea seals.

Thankfully, he didn’t cut the line.

As he hauled it out of the water, he saw the tiny worm-like bait clinging tightly to a massive, pig-like unknown fish. Yang Yi hesitated for a moment, then decided to shoot it in the head before reeling it in.

From the wound gushed a thick, milky-white fluid that gave off an incredibly tempting aroma.

Before long, a swarm of sea fish arrived, suctioning up the fluid ravenously, whether it was blood or oil, Yang Yi wasn’t sure. But the fish didn’t leave after that. They hovered nearby, staring longingly as Yang Yi dragged the big catch onto the ship.

A short while later, Yang Yi shot and hauled up those fish too, adding them to his growing pile on the deck.

【Name: Delicious Sea Bream】

【Description: This sea bream is incredibly tasty, no matter how it’s prepared, it tastes amazing. Its fat gives off an irresistible aroma.】

“This is a sea bream?” Yang Yi was dumbfounded.

He snapped a photo and posted it in the world chat.

“Anyone else ever catch a sea bream like this?”

Responses flooded in:

“WTF?! Whose pig fell in the ocean? Somebody save it!”

“I’ve been sea fishing for ten years, and yeah, that’s a sea bream… just a really fat one.”

“Dude, what kind of net are you using? You crushed its head!”

“White fish blood? That thing’s probably toxic.”

Yang Yi scrolled through the replies and compared them with other posted fish records.

He came to a clear conclusion: he might be the only player who had caught a fish like this. Not an Abyssal species… But a Fat Variant. And it was very likely a result of the Angler’s Curse.

“Where’d you catch that whale-fish?”

He received a private message from He Qi, who had seen his post.

“Probably because of my ship’s skill. It’s the opposite of yours, I can’t catch normal fish, so I end up with stuff like this…”

Yang Yi sent over the details on the Delicious Sea Bream.

“Delicious, huh? Tastes that good?”

“Oh, definitely. But it’s addictive, one bite and you won’t be able to stop,” Yang Yi replied.

“If you ever catch one, do not eat it.”

“You think it’s connected to the Bountiful Sea Zone?”

He Qi quickly connected the strange fish to the Bountiful Sea Zone, coinciding with Yang Yi's own suspicions.

He also mentioned that fishing in this safe sea zone was ridiculously easy, nearly every cast landed a fish, far more than he could eat. So, he’d been selling them to players still stuck in the Polar Winter Zone and had made a decent profit.

Yang Yi agreed.

That said, he hadn’t had a single streak of consecutive catches yet…

After wrapping up the conversation, Yang Yi returned to browsing the chat channels.

He noticed that tons of players were posting pictures of their catches, and no one was getting flamed for it, suggesting that everyone’s haul had been pretty good, which helped maintain the unusually peaceful atmosphere.

Yang Yi glanced at the oversized sea bream, fat like a pig, and sent it to the lab.

Suna would probably love thr cholesterol-packed monstrosity.

As for the other fish he’d dragged up after killing them, Yang Yi decided not to keep them either. Since they’d ingested the delicious sea bream’s fat, they had a chance of being affected somehow. He opted to cremate them, as he wasn’t short on meat anyway.

Once that was done, night had fallen.

Yang Yi checked his stamina — just over 40 points left — and decided to get in a bit of training. With little else to do, it became the top priority.

Time to grow stronger.

Two days later.

When he wasn’t training or fishing, Yang Yi was like a broken record in the chat, constantly posting requests to buy Enhancement Stones, and he actually managed to snag two: one priced at 85,000, the other at 90,000.

He tried bargaining.

In the end, he got both for 85,000.

(The seller asking for 85k flat-out refused to lower the price, said he’d just use it himself if no one bought it.)

Yang Yi didn’t push too hard. 85,000 wasn’t a bad deal.

The price of Enhancement Stones fluctuated between 80,000 and 100,000 and often leaned towards the higher end. They were rare, and most players preferred to keep them for their own gear upgrades.

Yang Yi gave the two stones to Suna, and her Witch's Dagger was upgraded from “Fine” to “Exquisite”.

In terms of cost-performance ratio, it wasn’t a profitable trade. But the new stat +1 Spirit was rare and valuable. With this, Suna’s Spirit attribute rose to 8, just one point behind Yang Yi.

Though, Yang Yi’s Spirit EXP was nearly maxed, and he’d hit 10 soon. As annoying as the nightmares were, they’d massively boosted his Spirit EXP, much faster than ordinary players could manage. freewёbnoνel.com

【Name: Sharp Witch's Dagger】

【Type: Treasure】【Quality: Exquisite】【Description: A dagger favoured by witches. After enhancement, its sharpness has reached a new level, it can effortlessly slice through thin iron sheets, shells, and even sever bone.Grants +1 Spirit. Does not induce discomfort when cutting through living flesh.Witches can sometimes be gentle, but more often, they’re just trying to keep you from squirming too much so it’s easier to make the cut.】

The weapon was more of a tool than a killing instrument, tailored for dissection.

After reading the description, Yang Yi felt a little uneasy. Because the first thing Suna did after getting the dagger... was ask him for more of his wolf hair.

He couldn’t refuse.

So, he transformed and she plucked a good amount. He barely felt a thing, except for a chilly sensation on his back and tail.

Apparently, the wolf hair was a crucial ingredient for her new magic potion.
