Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill-Chapter 42: Entering the Dream
Li Wei sat in his room, hesitating for a long time.
Finally, he decided to give it a try.
Lying down on his bed, Li Wei closed his eyes and activated the Great Dream Traveling Skill.
He felt his consciousness rapidly sink, falling into a bottomless abyss.
Whether it was a long time or just a moment, Li Wei couldn’t tell.
He felt himself finally come to a stop.
Opening his eyes, he saw that everything around him was shrouded in a dense fog, with visibility of less than three meters.
Seeing the familiar surroundings, Li Wei showed a surprised expression. He was still in his room.
He got up, only to see his body still lying on the bed.
Looking down at himself, he saw his body had become translucent and white.
’A soul?’ Li Wei’s heart tightened.
’An out-of-body experience?’
Li Wei reached out to touch his body on the bed, but found he couldn’t make contact at all.
When he tried to use the Great Dream Traveling Skill to return to reality, a powerful suction force suddenly emanated from his body.
He felt his consciousness shoot upward, like a fish rocketing to the surface from the ocean floor, and the sensation was extremely uncomfortable.
WHOOSH!
Li Wei sat up abruptly. He glanced around; everything was normal.
The gray fog had vanished.
’Was that a dream just now?’
Now certain, Li Wei lay back down and used the Great Dream Traveling Skill again.
He returned to the foggy Dream World.
He walked around the room and found that most things could be seen but not touched.
The walls were solid and incredibly sturdy, like an unbreakable barrier. The windows couldn’t be opened either.
Looking outside through the glass, he saw only pitch-blackness. The longer he stared, the more he felt like something was lurking in the dark, a deeply unsettling feeling.
Li Wei quickly averted his gaze, not daring to keep staring outside, afraid that whatever was in the darkness might burst in.
After another look around, he discovered that only the door could be opened.
He pressed his ear against the door and listened for a moment. There was no sound.
He tried casting magic in the dream.
The Small Fireball Technique and the Invisibility Armor Spell could both be used normally.
However, the gray fog in the dream was strange; the light from the fire couldn’t dispel it or illuminate anything farther away.
Li Wei could see an area of three meters around him, but everything beyond that was a blur.
Even when he used the Small Fireball Technique to light up his surroundings, it only made the area within three meters clearer; it couldn’t illuminate anything beyond that.
Li Wei held up a Small Fireball and carefully opened the door.
It was pitch-black outside. There was nothing.
He threw the Fireball out. The darkness swallowed it, and not a single sound returned.
Li Wei hesitated for a moment, then tentatively reached his hand into the darkness. He found nothing unusual; it seemed to be a purely visual obstruction.
’There’s no point in staying in the room. Should I go out and have a look?’
He quickly made his decision.
Li Wei stepped out of the room and into the darkness.
Passing through the doorway, Li Wei found himself in a massive library. Books floated everywhere, and diagrams of constantly shifting magic models filled the air.
He looked back and saw the door standing alone in the library.
His room was on the other side of the door.
Li Wei went back through and found no obstruction, letting out a sigh of relief.
Entering the vast library, he curiously observed his surroundings.
’Where is this place?’
After a moment, he realized the place seemed somewhat familiar.
An idea struck Li Wei. ’Isn’t this an enlarged version of the library on the third floor of the Mage Tower?’
He walked deeper inside and caught a book flying through the air, but its title was blurry and hard to read.
Glancing around, he saw that the vast majority of the books were similarly indistinct.
Coming out from behind a bookshelf, Li Wei saw a giant book floating in mid-air. A figure sat on it with their back to him, and a magic model in front of them was rapidly transforming.
Li Wei recognized one of the magic models.
’The magic model for the Small Fireball Technique?’
Li Wei focused his gaze and got a clear look at the person on the giant book. It was Master Rota.
He had a sudden realization. This was Master Rota’s dream.
He looked around, filled with emotion.
’I can’t believe Master Rota is still diligently studying magic even in his dreams.’
Li Wei understood. It seemed Rota was trying to deduce a new form of magic.
He had encountered difficulties in reality, so his subconscious was continuously working through it in his dream.
Li Wei didn’t disturb Rota. Instead, he looked at the magic models in the air.
Seeing the books floating around him, an idea stirred in his mind.
’If this is a dream, then maybe I can...’
Li Wei stepped onto a book, tentatively trying to stand on it.
He successfully stood on the levitating book.
Using the books as steps, Li Wei walked toward the magic models in the air.
With a thought, the surrounding books flew over and formed a staircase beneath his feet.
’Dreams are so interesting!’
A smile appeared on Li Wei’s face.
Rota was completely absorbed in deducing the new magic model and didn’t notice the commotion Li Wei was causing at all.
Li Wei walked up to one of the magic models and observed it carefully, trying to memorize it.
After a long while, he gave up on that one and turned to another.
This magic model was for the Tier Zero magic, Flying Stone Skill.
Unfortunately, the magic model was incomplete.
It was either an effect of the dream, or Rota himself wasn’t very proficient with it. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Li Wei searched all over for a complete magic model.
’So many magic models... Don’t tell me Rota has actually learned every single Tier Zero magic?’
There were over a dozen visible ones alone, and Li Wei had no idea if there were others hidden from view.
’This one is... a Tier One Magic Model?’
Li Wei looked up and saw an incredibly complex magic model floating at the highest point of the library.
After touching the magic model and receiving some information...
His eyes lit up. It was the magic model for the Tier One Fireball Technique.
A moment later, Li Wei sighed. ’What a shame. It’s even more incomplete than the magic models for the Tier Zero magic.’
After looking around, he finally found a complete magic model.
A disappointed look crossed Li Wei’s face. ’Small Fireball Technique... I already know this one.’
Then a thought occurred to him. Rota seemed to be using the Small Fireball Technique as a basis to deduce a new form of magic.
’Could it be that the magic model for the Small Fireball Technique is complete because Rota is most familiar with it?’
Li Wei reached out and touched the magic model for the Small Fireball Technique. Rota’s cultivation experience with the technique flooded into his mind.
A moment later, he casually summoned a book.
Opening it, a few lines of text appeared on the page.
[Basic Meditation Method (Great Success)] 3542/4000
[Small Fireball Technique (Tier Zero Small Success)] 1266/4000
[Invisible Armor Skill (Tier Zero Small Success)] 167/4000
[Great Dream Traveling Skill (Tier Zero)] 5/10000
Li Wei was shocked. His experience with the Small Fireball Technique had actually increased by several hundred points.
’Did I just gain Rota’s cultivation experience with the Small Fireball Technique?’
He looked at the other magic models around him.
If he already knew these spells, he could gain Rota’s cultivation experience from their magic models.
Li Wei was overjoyed.
’The Great Dream Traveling Skill has such an amazing effect!’
’Oh no, the dream seems to be ending.’
Li Wei saw the giant library begin to collapse. Large amounts of gray fog poured in, and darkness began to devour the dream.
He scrambled toward the door. After just a few steps, his body simply lifted into the air.
WHOOSH!
Just before the dream completely collapsed, Li Wei rushed through the door and returned to his bedroom.
He looked back to see pitch-blackness outside the door. The darkness surged, trying to enter the room, but was blocked by an invisible barrier.
Li Wei was terrified; he had almost been swallowed by the darkness.
He shut the door, keeping the darkness out.
