Chapter 167: Back Again...

Audrey had decided to make Lake’s breakfast herself, she wanted to make sure he was well-fed.

She was in the kitchen, her mother standing beside her as she cooked.

"We’re ready to leave but you’re yet to tell him about your plan...how’s he going to make it work?" Isabella asked quietly.

"I’ll tell him. Trust me, he’s ready whenever I am," Audrey replied, looking back into the living room to see Lake chatting with Mikhail.

She sighed and looked away from them, "He’ll be ready," she said in a lowered voice.

After serving the food in the dining, she went to call Lake and Mikhail to eat.

"The food is ready, Baby," She said, looking at her son but she didn’t miss the look Lake gave her.

"Come on, Moma’s food is the best," Mikhail held Lake’s hand and tugged him to follow him.

Lake stood and followed the boy behind, "You have to figure out how to address him...that title should be mine," He whispered to Audrey before walking away.

Audrey almost laughed out loud. She was surprised by Lake’s nerve, taking away the fact that she knew he was her mate and the father of her child, but what about him? He had no memory of them, so what gave him the nerve to ask her to choose how she called her son?

Did he realize he was just some random stranger she let into her house?

She shook her head and walked to the dining.

Isabella was already dishing the food as they sat around the table.

Green was busy tying the bib around Mikhail’s neck and he was bent on making her answer some unreasonable question.

"It’s time to eat, Mikhail, I’ll answer your questions after, okay?" Green patted his head.

Mikhail nodded, "Okay," He gave her a thumb up and drew his dish closer.

The table was quiet as everyone dug into their food, except Audrey; she was busy watching Lake’s reaction as he took the food into his mouth.

The moment Lake put the food in his mouth, he paused, his eyes immediately finding Audrey.

"Do you like it?" Audrey asked.

He slowly nodded, "It’s perfect, just...it’s almost like a familiar taste..." He replied after chewing.

Audrey smiled, "I’ll take the compliment," She balled her fist on her thigh beneath the table.

She recalled when he would only eat the food she made; he got so used to her cooking that the taste of her cooking never left his brain, even after five years.

It left her wondering just how much of fragments were left in his mind. Was there something she was supposed to do to make him remember her?

"Mummy, have you told him about our trip tonight?" Mikhail suddenly asked at the quiet table.

Isabella sighed, shaking her head as she stared at Audrey.

Audrey slowly turned to look at Lake, his eyes were already staring questioningly at her.

"You’re going on a trip?" He tilted his head to the side and asked.

Audrey slowly nodded, "Yes. Are we not going to work on that project of yours anymore?" She gave him a mischievous.

Lake’s face morphed into surprise, "You’re really coming with me?" A smile played on his lips.

Audrey nodded, "Well, it’s not like you left me with any other options,"

Lake looked down at his plate, hiding his smile, "Well leave tonight, then," He replied.

"I’m so excited, Grandma, we’re going to somewhere new...will I make new friends?" Mikhail whispered to Isabella.

Isabella smiled, "Of course, darling, you’ll meet new people and make loads of friends, you’ll love it there," She reassured him.

Mikhail nodded, his little feet kicking in anticipation.

After eating, Lake called Andrew and asked him to take Melody to the airport first. He stayed with Audrey and helped them with their few luggage.

"Will that be all?" Lake asked as he placed the last bag in the trunk.

He was filled with excitement but he was toning it down so he didn’t look weird to Audrey. He couldn’t wait to take her to his pack; something told him that he was about to have some good experiences with her and Mikhail; the pack that usually seemed dead to him was starting to become liveable to him.

He couldn’t wait to welcome them as one of his, and as for Audrey, there was no way he was letting her go from the moment she stepped foot in his territory. He knew there was something between them, and he didn’t care if he felt all sorts of pain whenever he tried getting close to her; he would brave it one day.

Nothing was ever going to stop him from being with the only woman that made his heart beat; she made him want to look forward to a new day, knowing she was going to be part of it.

"Let’s go!" Mikhail peeked his face out from the car and called to Audrey and Lake.

"That will be all, let’s go," Audrey said to Lake before entering the car.

In the Grey Blood Pack, Miranda has already informed everyone about Audrey’s arrival. The sun was out and bright that afternoon, and everyone was super excited to see her again.

Although they had been told never to act like they’d seen her before, they still wanted to see her; they knew that coming back meant that there was hope for their Alpha.

"Remember, Maria, don’t get too excited," Miranda said to Maria as she helped Ms. Bridget with cooking in the kitchen.

"It’s not me you should worry about, it’s them," Maria pointed toward Mary and Sandra by the side.

They were slowly peeling the potatoes on the table; Mary seemed as if she was calm, but the continuous tapping of her leg under the table told about her stemming anticipation.

Sandra, on the other hand, looked like she didn’t give a fuck; she looked angry and uninterested in whatever they were talking about around her.

But Maria knew better; she knew that Sandra was the most excited to see Audrey, she had been unconscious when Audrey left the pack and was devastated when she woke up and couldn’t find her best friend.

She called and called and sent a series of texts, but none of them were answered.

She felt abandoned, ever since then, she claims to have forgotten all about Audrey. However, whenever Audrey was mentioned, just like at that moment, Sandra always seemed to stay close to hear all the information about Audrey.

She wasn’t even supposed to be in the kitchen; she had just come to drop something for Ms. Bridget when she heard Miranda talking about Audrey, and before you knew it, she was already sitting with Mary, peeling off the back of potatoes.

"I guess we’ll have to wait and find out who will be the first to break character among you three," Miranda said.

Sandra scoffed, "I don’t know what you guys are talking about," She rolled her eyes and focused on her duty.

Mary snapped her head up to Sandra, "Really?" She questioned.

Sandra nodded, "Yes,"

Mary furrowed her brows. "But, Audreyvwas your friend, she saved your life, remember...you were almost turned into a Zombie, but she gave up her mate bond just so you and every other person in the pack could live freely, yet you say you don’t know her," She reminded.

Sandra didn’t say a word; she just kept doing what she was doing.

"Well, it’s good you removed yourself from being her best friend; I don’t think Audrey would have time to deal with entitled people when she should be busy looking for ways to make her mate remember her," Mary stated.

"Quit it, girls. Mary, let Sandra be, she’ll come around," Maria advised.

"I won’t," Sandra said and stood, packed the potatoes she had peeled, and walked over to Maria.

She poured the potatoes into the sink in front of Maria and turned away, walking toward the door.

"She’ll come around," Maria smiled at Ms. Bridget and Miranda.

"Oh! Sorry, excuse me," Cara rushed into the kitchen, stumbling into Sandra who was leaving.

Sandra simply ignored her and kept walking away, but she immediately halted in her steps when she heard what Cara announced.

"I think the Alpha has returned with Luna Audrey!" Cara said with so much enthusiasm.

"Really?!" Maria and Mary asked at the same time.

Miranda smiled broadly while Ms. Bridget dropped the spatula in her hand and turned to look at Cara, excitement masking her face.

"Yes! Really, Alpha Lake’s car has been sighted by the border guards, and the whole park has been notified; they’ll be here in less than thirty minutes," Cara informed, feeling proud to be the one who bore the good news.

"Awesome, let’s go," Miranda clapped.

Everyone started walking out of the kitchen, they had agreed to appear as if they were naturally busy outside when Audrey returned so that Lake wouldn’t be suspicious of them.

"Well, you can come along, Ms. ’I don’t care,’ but do keep your excitement to yourself," Mary patted Sandra’s shoulder as she walked past her along the entrance of the kitchen.
