He Got Engaged to His First Love On the Day I Died-Chapter 151: That Child of Natalie Morgan’s Is Yours
Hearing Theodore Grant’s voice, Wanda Lynch was so frightened she immediately clutched her head.
"It wasn’t me, it wasn’t me..."
She curled into a ball, trying to protect herself.
Weller Kendall grabbed her by both arms and dragged her to a nearby wooden chair. "Wanda Lynch, you’re surprisingly hard to kill. But this time, you won’t be so lucky."
"Don’t kill me, don’t kill me..."
Wanda Lynch didn’t dare to look up.
Her eyes were furtive, her behavior exaggerated.
Neither of the two men liked this act of hers, playing dumb and crazy.
"Wanda Lynch, confess everything. Tell us what other dirty deeds you and Felix Finch have done, and Mr. Grant might spare your life."
Wanda Lynch shook her head.
She peeked through the gaps in her fingers at the tall man standing before her. "He won’t let me go. He won’t."
"That depends on what you confess." Weller Kendall grabbed her arms and, in a few swift motions, tied them to the chair.
With her hands no longer shielding her face, Wanda Lynch looked even more terrified.
Her eyes were trembling.
Theodore Grant propped a foot on the chair and grabbed her by the throat. "Wanda Lynch, seeing as you’re so hard to kill, tell me something I don’t know. I’ll give you a chance to keep your miserable life."
Wanda Lynch didn’t know what Theodore Grant knew.
’But she guessed he definitely didn’t know... about the child.’
Felix Finch had instructed her not to let Theodore Grant know about this.
But Theodore Grant was about to kill her now. To save her own life, she couldn’t afford to worry about anything else.
"Natalie Morgan’s child is yours. Does that count?"
Both men froze at almost the same instant.
The news struck Theodore Grant’s heart like a bolt from the blue.
It shook him to the core, leaving him reeling.
He stood frozen in place, as if the entire world had ground to a halt.
A flicker of disbelief in his eyes was instantly replaced by profound shock.
He couldn’t snap out of it for a long time.
Weller Kendall stepped forward and slapped Wanda Lynch across the face. "Wanda Lynch, if you dare spout any more nonsense, I’ll kill you right now."
"I’m not lying." Blood trickled from the corner of Wanda Lynch’s mouth, her eyes rimmed with red. "Natalie Morgan was already pregnant when she fled to Fenchest. She only married that old man to give herself a proper status, and to give the child one, too. It’s all true. If you don’t believe me, you can get a paternity test."
"What else is there that I don’t know?"
Theodore Grant’s voice was dark and hoarse.
He felt like a fool.
He had never once suspected that Natalie Morgan’s child could be his own.
"There’s more..." Wanda Lynch swallowed nervously. "...If I tell you, will you let me go?"
"You haven’t said a thing, and you’re already trying to bargain?" Theodore Grant wrapped his tie around Wanda Lynch’s neck. With a slight tug, she began to choke. "Who gave you the nerve?"
"This, this is a matter of life and death. If you promise to let me go, I’ll talk."
She stared at Theodore Grant with the eyes of a dead fish.
If there was one thing Theodore Grant hated, it was being given conditions.
But when he heard the words "life and death," his heart involuntarily tightened.
"Speak."
"Promise me first."
Theodore Grant loosened his grip. The tie remained wrapped around her neck, but without the pressure, she could breathe again.
After taking a few deep, ragged breaths, Wanda Lynch finally spoke. "Today, Felix Finch is taking Natalie Morgan to the mall. Natalie will have the child with her. He’s probably going to make a move on the boy then."
"What do you mean, ’make a move on the boy’?" Weller Kendall also sensed the gravity of the situation. "Wanda Lynch, you’d better explain everything clearly to Mr. Grant."
"Felix Finch has always wanted that child dead. The last time, when the boy fell into the sea? Felix threw him in on purpose. But you saved him. This time, he’s planning to throw the kid from an upper floor."
Weller Kendall sucked in a sharp breath.
Theodore Grant’s heart began to pound, and blood rushed to his head.
He fought to control his ragged breathing and asked, "Which mall?"
"I... I don’t know."
There were a lot of malls in Riverden.
Felix Finch hadn’t told Wanda Lynch which one.
Theodore Grant called Natalie Morgan.
No one answered.
He began to panic.
"Weller Kendall, get more men. I want every mall searched. Now! Immediately!"
"Yes, Mr. Grant."
Theodore Grant snatched his jacket, and he and Weller Kendall rushed out of the office.
「At that moment.」
In a moderately sized mall in Riverden, Natalie Morgan was holding Momo in the toy section, picking out toy cars he liked.
"Do you like this one?"
Momo, holding one in his left hand and another in his right, wanted them both. "I want two."
"You can only have one."
The little guy looked at the one, then the other, unwilling to part with either.
In the end, he reluctantly put one down. "This one."
"Such a good boy."
Felix Finch came over with two bubble teas, handing one to Natalie Morgan and the other to the little one. "Let’s take a break. Look at him, he’s all sweaty."
"It’s fine. It’s not often I get to bring my boy to the mall."
’Felix had asked her to go to the mall today, specifically telling her to bring Momo. To be honest, she hadn’t wanted to come, but she was incredibly curious. What was Felix’s motive for inviting her and Momo out?’
’Falling into the sea, the kidnapping... one incident after another forced her to be suspicious of the man before her.’
"Felix, why the sudden invitation to come out today?"
Felix Finch smiled, as gentle and elegant as ever. "You’ve been back in Riverden for some time now. Living at the Grant Residence, we hardly get to see each other. Honestly, I’ve really missed you and Momo."
"We’re doing well." She gave a faint smile.
"I know Theodore’s temper. It must be difficult for you, living in his house," Felix Finch said, taking Natalie’s hand.
She pulled it back reflexively.
He looked a bit awkward and surprised.
"I know you still blame me," he said, a hint of sorrow in his voice.
"Felix, we’ve known each other for many years. I know exactly what kind of person you are."
She expressed neither trust nor forgiveness.
This made him deeply uncomfortable.
His eyes darkened. "Alright, let’s not talk about that. There’s a play area up ahead. Let’s take Momo there."
Felix Finch reached out to take the boy.
The boy shrank back into Natalie Morgan’s arms.
"Felix, let’s not. Momo is tired and needs to nap soon. Why don’t my son and I head back first?"
"Okay, then let’s go back together."
He reached for the bubble tea they had just bought and, as if by accident, spilled it all over Natalie Morgan’s pristine white shirt.
"Oh, I’m so sorry. Let me buy you a new one," Felix Finch said, his face a mask of apology.
Natalie Morgan didn’t seem to mind. "It’s fine, I’ll go clean it up."
"Give Momo to me. There’s a restroom right ahead."
When Felix Finch reached for the boy, Natalie dodged almost imperceptibly. "It’s okay. He’s so little, I’ll just take him with me."
"Some women might object. You know how some people are about boys in the restroom," he reminded her, feigning thoughtfulness.
Natalie still didn’t hand the boy over. "It’s fine. I’m sure they’ll understand."
’Natalie was starting to regret bringing Momo out. That bubble tea spill... Felix had clearly done it on purpose. His target... was Momo? What was he planning to do to her child?’
