Healing a Fallen S-Rank Beastman: Everyone Fights Over the Little Female-Chapter 37: Respect
The location Lu Huan had shared was a bar. As soon as she walked in, the deafening music hit her, making her dizzy.
The interior was dimly lit, the lights chaotic and disorienting. Worried about Lu Xiao, Ares kept a protective arm around her.
When they found Lu Huan’s private room and pushed the door open, they saw several scantily clad males and three or four females drinking and carousing on the sofa.
Their sudden appearance made everyone in the room turn to look. One of the females stood up. "Who are you?"
"Lu Huan, get out here!" ’Lu Xiao refused to admit she couldn’t pick out her predecessor’s sister from the four females.’
’It wasn’t her fault. Her predecessor’s memories were a blur, and besides, the makeup on the four females’ faces was so thick she couldn’t make out their original features.’
A moment after she spoke, a reluctant-looking young female stood up, muttering, "You could’ve just handled it yourself. Did you really have to come find me? So annoying!"
Seeing Lu Huan about to leave, the female beside her grabbed her arm. "Hey, Huanhuan, where are you going? We’re not done yet."
"My sister’s here. I’m heading out. You guys have fun!"
"What about the bill?"
"I’ll cover it!" Lu Huan said casually. Clearly, this wasn’t the first time she’d paid for everyone.
Lu Xiao glanced at the other three females, then led Lu Huan out of the private room.
But it was too noisy outside to be a suitable place for a conversation.
Just as Lu Xiao was wondering where they could talk, Ares had already gotten them a new private room.
They went inside and closed the door. Finally, it was quiet.
"So, what do you want?" Lu Huan asked, looking like she wanted to get this over with quickly.
Her sister’s attitude infuriated Lu Xiao. "I don’t owe you a thing, and I have no obligation to clean up your messes. You’d better fix your tone with me. Do you come to places like this often?"
Lu Huan stared at Lu Xiao for a long moment before her tone softened slightly. "What’s wrong with a place like this? You used to come here all the time. Now you’re lecturing me?"
Lu Xiao winced and instinctively glanced at Ares. ’How unfair! I have to take the blame for everything my predecessor did, and I can’t even argue back.’
Thankfully, Ares’s expression remained neutral.
"You’re still in school. Stay away from places like this in the future. Now, what’s the deal with that male? Who is he? How did you meet? Tell me everything, and don’t you dare lie to me!"
At the mention of the subject, Lu Huan became agitated again. She turned and sat on the sofa, reaching for a drink on the coffee table, but Lu Xiao stopped her hand. "Spit it out!"
Lu Huan had no choice but to pull her hand back. "Why are you so annoying all of a sudden? How else would I meet him? Here, obviously. He’s a waiter, a really good-looking one. One thing led to another and we got to know each other. How was I supposed to know he’d actually get serious? I didn’t even do anything!"
By the end, Lu Huan actually sounded aggrieved. ’All we did was hold hands and share a few kisses. It’s not like I did anything over the top.’
"He’s just a regular waiter? Is he?" Lu Xiao wasn’t fooled by her words. She stared at Lu Huan. "He has some kind of special background, doesn’t he?"
As she finished speaking, Lu Huan’s expression stiffened. "Not really... It’s just... he’s also the son of an Earl. His mother is Earl Hua An, a male from the Li Family."
’I knew it,’ Lu Xiao thought. ’Neither the mother nor the daughter had told me the whole truth.’
’If the guy didn’t have such a high status, knowing Lu Ge Wei and Lu Huan, they would’ve dealt with it themselves with a lift of a finger. Why else would they come crying to me?’
’Lu Ge Wei wanted her to handle it because they were both Earls, and she was too proud to bow her head to the other family. She couldn’t get involved personally, which made me the perfect proxy.’
’As for Lu Huan, she was fine toying with ordinary males who had no background, but she was completely helpless when faced with someone of his standing.’
’It was just... speechless.’
"So that’s the situation. I’ve told you everything, so you can just handle it. I’m going!"
Seeing Lu Huan turn to leave, Lu Xiao let out a humorless laugh. "What gave you the delusion that I’m supposed to handle this for you? And don’t bring Mother into this. If you’re asking me for a favor, you should act like it. Otherwise, you might as well just marry the guy. Given his status, he’s more than qualified to be your main husband."
Lu Huan clearly hadn’t expected that. She whirled around, staring in disbelief. "How could you say that? I’m your sister!"
"And you know you’re just my sister, not my ancestor. If you’re going to ask for a favor, show some humility. Now, go back to school, pack your things, and move into my place!"
"Why? If I move in with you, does that mean I don’t have to go to school?"
"Do you even remember you’re a student? Look at you. Do you look anything like a student? I’m giving you one month to get your act together. Otherwise, you can sink or swim on your own."
Lu Xiao walked over, clamped a hand on Lu Huan’s arm, and dragged her out of the bar.
Lu Huan tried to struggle, but she couldn’t break free. Only then did she realize how surprisingly strong Lu Xiao’s grip was.
Once they were in the car, Lu Xiao changed her mind. "Ares, take us straight home. You don’t need to go back to school for your things. I’ll bill Mother for your living expenses at my place. Let’s go."
"Lu Xiao, are you crazy? You’re going to imprison me? I’m going to tell Mother! She’ll definitely punish you for this!"
"Perfect. Send her a voice message right now. Tell her that if she wants me to handle you, we do it my way. I can’t clean up your messes forever. If you can’t change your ways, then you can just stop going out and fooling around altogether. Stay locked up at home for the rest of your life." Lu Xiao wasn’t afraid in the slightest. ’What a joke. Right now, they’re the ones begging me for help.’
Lu Huan looked like she was about to die from sheer anger, but there was nothing she could do about Lu Xiao. She could only slump in her seat and sulk.
Lu Xiao laughed to herself. ’And here I thought she was so tough.’
’Is that all it takes?’
After they got home, the moment Lu Huan stepped inside, she heard Lu Xiao say, "Ares, find a guest room for her. Make her wash her face. I’m going to eat."
"Alright," Ares replied. "Please follow me, Lady Lu Huan."
"Don’t call me that. What right do you have to call me that? You’re just her side husband... Ah!" Before she could even finish her sentence, Lu Xiao’s palm had already landed on her face.
Lu Huan was completely stunned by the slap. In her entire life, she had never been hit before.
Clutching her face, she stared at Lu Xiao in disbelief.
Ares, standing to the side, was also taken aback. He hadn’t expected Lu Xiao to suddenly get physical, especially not on his behalf.
Just as he was about to speak, he heard Lu Xiao say, "You had better get it straight just whose house you’re in and who you’re speaking to. Ares is my partner. Regardless of his status, you will at least show some basic courtesy. You are to call him Brother-in-law. Don’t let me ever hear you disrespect him again, or I will hit you again. Ares, don’t bother with her anymore. From now on, if she needs anything, she can do it herself. No one is here to wait on her. You’ve had a long day, too. Go back to your room and rest."
Ares wanted to say that he wasn’t tired, but when he met Lu Xiao’s furious gaze, he decided against it. Instead, he just nodded. "Call me if you need anything."
