Hearts System: 1000 Ways to Tell CEO I Love You-Chapter 27: Winter Glass, Ice Empress
Luellen reflected the nod. The attendant hurried to one side and called for another attendant to handle the jewelry. The maiden didn’t think of buying the jewelry, but she wanted to see what she should pick out from the system shop. She returned to the lounge, leaving a whole seat between her and Leander.
He glanced in her direction. "Beck is waiting for the designer to arrive. He wants Sydney to match him. Look at what he sent."
"Wow, that’s a pretty gown." Luellen’s eyes flickered. It was one of the displayed gowns with a lot of ruffles. She wouldn’t wear that, but it might look nice on a dog. After all, Sydney needed the silhouette to stand out.
[G. Halloway: Thanks for inviting me to the farewell party, Leander! Should I book a room for us?]
A stray message popped out from the top. Luellen figured the message had been shown since the phone was in active use. She didn’t even want to look and see Leander’s face right now. It was just that... Leander didn’t hesitate to reply in Luellen’s full view.
[Me: Book four rooms. Share a room with Ms Hower. Everyone will be there. I also invited my brother.]
Luellen glanced at Leander’s twitching face. He didn’t seem amused by Gala’s stunts. Asking to book a hotel room for the two of them? What was she expecting?
[G. Halloway: Sure!]
The maiden figured Gala grew angry. Then again, Gala couldn’t complain to his face. She just looked up at Leander again. "She wouldn’t get us a bad room, would she?"
"I doubt it. Henny has a lower bottom line than her." Leander chuckled as he fiddled with his phone to check Beckett’s new message. "Hm, Beck said they’re taking Sydney’s measurements now. He’ll just look for us when he settles his business with the designer. The designer also offered to make him a matching necktie."
"Oh, wow. I can’t wait to see Sydney in the gown." Luellen giggled. She didn’t find that message amusing. However, she saw the past messages on their thread.
Leander noticed. He ended up pressing the message box and tapping a letter to expand it. The messages were pushed up and out of sight. He cleared his throat. "You know how he is. He’s not faking his personality."
Luellen covered her mouth and giggled. Her shoulders trembled at the stifled laughter. Leander only shook his head and locked his phone.
The attendant walked closer, holding up two gowns in their hangers. "Ms Piper, would you like to fit into the silver gown first?"
"Wow...!" Luellen gasped. She quickly got up and softly trailed her fingers on the white crystal beading. She then looked at the attendant. "Uhm, how much is this one? I don’t think these are rhinestones..."
"They’re real diamonds, Ms Piper." The attendant smiled. "I don’t think Mr Leander will scrimp on a woman. Let’s talk about the fit first before the price."
Luellen froze. She caught sight of three more attendants bringing four more gowns to them. All of them look expensive yet unbelievably beautiful to Luellen. The maiden locked gazes with the attendant and waved her hands. "No, no! You’re getting it wrong! He’s my boss! We’re not like that!"
The attendant lifted her brows. She glanced at Leander, who didn’t react. At this, she smiled more deeply. "But you are going to stand beside him, Ms Piper."
Luellen dropped her jaw and turned to Leander behind her. However, the man suddenly got on his phone as if he had received another message. She could only look back at the other gowns. "Can I try the ones with no diamonds first?"
...
Sinful. Luellen felt so sinful as the attendant fastened the corset behind her. The silver gown didn’t look anything close to a wedding gown. However, the diamonds on it shimmered so nicely. She also loved it more than the other dresses. Moreover, the corset cinched her waist so much that her shape changed. She didn’t even feel suffocated.
Luellen didn’t miss the silver jewelry paired with the gown. With her white moon earrings, she felt more beautiful than Summer.
’No, this should just be from the diamonds...’
The maiden sighed and would like to settle for something else. It was just that the system reminded her of her Super Task.
[Evaluating potential attire...]
[Potential attire: Formal Event, Outfit Score: A+]
Luellen froze. Her eyes flickered. Right. She needed to have a high attire score for the Dinner Party. Just because the event changed didn’t mean the Super Task was voided. She would still be there with Leander. Thinking about it made her excited. A smile curled her lips as she checked herself out more.
’Even for one night... I want to be more beautiful than Shirley.’
"Ms Piper, you’re so beautiful...!" The attendant clapped. "Mr Leander will be so pleased! Do you want to show him the dress? Maybe... he won’t mind paying for it if he sees how much it flatters you."
"Uhm, now I’m scared to hear the price." Luellen walked out to the waiting lounge. The dressing booth was just behind the racks. Since it was also designed to host one group at a time, she didn’t have to share it with someone else. She flattened the complementary white sheer shawl on her arm and smiled at Leander.
Leander was on his phone, but his eyes moved to look. He locked his phone and brought it down. He said, "It looks perfect on you."
Luellen nodded and did a slow twirl. "I also like it! Uhm, if it costs too much, I’ll try to pay for half of it. Mr Leander, I think I’m getting this gown...!"
"And the jewelry?"
"...shucks, they really look like a set with the gown...!" Luellen touched the silver necklace. She then looked up at him. "...please?"
The CEO nodded and turned to the attendant in charge of them. She retrieved a handheld kiosk from another attendant. She showed it to him. "Here’s your invoice for the Winter Glass Althea gown, the Winter Glass Ice Empress necklace, the Winter Glass Ice Empress hand chains..."
Luellen didn’t get close to see the price. She was caught up with the Winter Glass label attached to it.
Wasn’t that collection from a luxury brand that Summer once mentioned? Wait, didn’t Summer say that one simple dress from that brand could rake in a thousand? Ice Empress? That sounded new... and surely out of her budget!
As if hearing Luellen’s thoughts from her gaze, Leander looked at her. He didn’t say anything, but his smile widened so much it alarmed Luellen.
"Wait, wait, how much is it?" Luellen hurried to the lounge and sat beside Leander. She even had to lean into him to see the kiosk’s screen clearly. "What? Twenty-seven thousand?!"
"Easy with your eighteen thousand." Leander laughed. Luellen didn’t even bother smoothing the skirt when she dropped to the couch.
"I was only expecting ten...!" Luellen died.
Leander shifted to reach into his pocket. He took out his card and handed it to the attendant. "Do you still want to pay half of it?"
