Hearts System: 1000 Ways to Tell CEO I Love You-Chapter 40: What Should I Tell My Husband?
The closest vet was roughly a five-minute walk from the hotel. They were also open twenty-four-seven, as if prepared to cater to the pets checking in. The concierge was even the one who gave their address.
Madam Henny and Luellen rushed in their gowns and heels. The maiden looked like she had murdered someone, but she cared too little about her expensive silver gown. It had already turned pink. However, the colors were uneven as if a child had dyed it.
The receptionist received a call from the hotel about an emergency. Even the resident vet was prepared before Sydney even arrived. When they did, it only took a few seconds before they left for the examination room.
Madam Henny filled up the papers, leaving Luellen to stand around. The place was spotless. She even felt so guilty. Her silver gown dripped blood and pool water on their gray carpets. She could only curl her toes under the fluffy skirt.
"Ms Piper?"
A voice called out from the entrance. Luellen turned and found a lady in a pantsuit by the door. The lady walked up to her and handed her a big shopping bag. She smiled at Luellen. "He wants you to have this. It must be hard to walk around in such a dress. Please take his gift. You don’t need to return it."
Luellen frowned a little. She received the shopping bag and looked inside. The bag was big, but the clothes inside were quite small. She figured the size difference was for the silver gown.
She could only smile at the lady. "Thank you."
The lady nodded and left. Luellen excused herself to use the restroom. The silver gown had become itchy, and she was happy to take it off.
Inside the stall, she loosened the corset with a tip Summer had given. She even hummed a song as she folded the ruined dress, as if it could stave off her guilt. Then, she reached into the bag and pulled out a blue dress and undergarments.
"Huh? There’s a note." Luellen opened the folded paper and frowned at its contents.
[I hope I got your measurements correctly. -NC]
"NC? This isn’t from Mr Leander?" Luellen folded the paper again. She looked at the clothes and weighed the consequences of not wearing them. It was just that... she couldn’t put the silver gown back on. The maiden only inspected the clothes thoroughly before wearing them.
Luellen walked out of the stall, seeing herself in the mirror. The blue dress had a babydoll style and sheer, balloon sleeves. Even if her waist wasn’t cinched, Luellen barely noticed it.
A slight blush ran across her cheeks. Luellen looked down at her blue babydoll dress. "I actually like it..."

"Huh? Why did I receive experience points all of a sudden?" Luellen lifted her face and looked at her reflection. "How did he know that I wore the dress? Does he even have to see me?
"No matter. I have to run to the hospital to find Mr Leander."
Luellen walked out of the restroom. When she did, she saw Madam Henny standing around the receptionist’s desk. The veterinarian looked at her with a serious face. The maiden hurried to their side.
"Did something happen to Sydney?" She asked, attracting the attention of the two women. Luellen gasped. "Please say Sydney’s okay."
"Ms Piper, you said... Sydney drowned?" The veterinarian faced her. "Is there anyone else in the area?"
"Uhm... yeah, her owner is also drowning."
Madam Henny held Luellen’s wrist. "Luellen, dear, Sydney’s right torso was bruised. She even had a broken rib. It’s not pushing against anything, but Sydney would be in pain. She doesn’t need surgery, but Beckett is also sent to the hospital. She might have to stay at the vet."
Luellen barely caught everything she said. The maiden’s free hand flew to her mouth. Then, her eyes trembled before she cried out, "She fucking kicked Sydney? I can’t believe her!"
"Luellen?" "Ms Piper?"
"Shirley!" Luellen gasped and grabbed Madam Henny’s arm. "Shirley was there when I jumped in! She didn’t even look like she wanted to help! Oh, my God! She kicked Sydney! There’s no way Mr Beckett will hurt her! Madam! I have to run back to the hotel!"
Madam Henny’s eyes grew colder. She reached into her bag and checked her phone. "We’re too late. Gala is headed to the hospital with Shirley. Run to Leander’s side for now. Don’t allow them to get close to Beckett or Leander."
Luellen nodded. She figured Madam Henny had to stay and care for Sydney. They could switch, but Luellen figured Madam Henny might kill the bitch.
The maiden could only ask Madam Henny to watch over her silver gown. Luellen ran out of the vet and hailed a taxicab.
...
Her heart pounded so loud as her anger grew. Luellen had to find Mr Leander fast... before Gala and Shirley could. It was just that the hospital stopped her from advancing.
"I’m sorry. We only allow family to see the patients at this time." The nurse outside stood her ground.
"No, you don’t understand...! I have to see him now!" Luellen almost wheezed. She ran all the way from the entrance. She couldn’t breathe well until she found Leander. It was just that... should she force her entry? Should she call Houston or Leander? Would they even answer her call?
Luellen could only inhale and pat her chest. "Please let me see him. I’m his wife! I have to stay by him and watch over my brother-in-law. Please let me through!"
The nurse paused for a bit and glanced to the side. She shook her head. "Uhm... his girlfriend said someone else will try to see him. She explicitly told me not to let you in. You will only cause trouble. Please, just wait for them to contact you. I can’t let strangers see our patients or their visitors."
Every inch of desperation within Luellen grew quiet. Her soft visage turned cold. "Okay... I’ll wait for him to call me. But I have questions.
"What should I tell my husband when he calls me? Where was I when he needed me? When a woman creeped around him in his vulnerable moment because the hospital didn’t allow his wife to find him?" Luellen huffed. "What should I say? That a wife is a stranger, while a mere secretary is not?"
"Wait..." The nurse swallowed her saliva. "Mrs Wentworth, wait! I’ll...! Uhm, I really... don’t..."
"You don’t believe me, do you?" Luellen stepped back and scoffed. "Is it because I looked like I jumped into a pool to save my drowning brother-in-law? Because I did."
Another nurse jogged to the door and smiled. "Mrs Wentworth, please follow me! I’m so sorry for the misunderstanding!"
Luellen stopped making eye contact and rushed past the first nurse. She ran with the second nurse, uncaring if she lied to get her way. Even if she got kicked out, at least Leander knew that she came to find them... to find him.
