Chapter 38 - Kidnapped

Chapter 38- Kidnapped

Tyler's POV

I walked fast, my feet hitting the floor harder than they should. My chest felt heavy, my throat tight. I couldn't let the tears fall. Not yet. Not in front of anyone.

I didn't even know where I was going—I just needed to keep moving.

My mom was gone. Taken. Kidnapped.

And it was his fault.

Declan never let her have peace.

He never let her be happy.

He never let her date.

He never let her have friends.

He never let her live in a safe place.

And now...

Now she was gone because of him.

All because of a heartless, wicked man who didn't even see anything wrong with what he was doing.

I ran a hand through my hair, gripping it as frustration and helplessness flooded me. I felt like screaming, like punching something until my knuckles bled.

For a brief second, I thought about not going to the wedding.

What was the point?

What was the point of showing up when the one person who mattered to me was missing?

"What's the point...?" I whispered under my breath, my voice shaking.

My vision blurred. I tried to blink it away, to push back the tears threatening to fall, but my body was betraying me.

I was trying to be strong, trying to be a man.

But I couldn't.

The pain was too much.

Just as the tears were about to spill, I felt a light tap on my shoulder.

I wiped my eyes quickly, forcing myself to look normal before turning around.

It was a maid.

The same one who had brought my suit earlier today.

She bowed slightly. "I'm sorry to disturb you, sir," she said softly. "But I forgot to bring the shoes earlier. I had to go back and get them. When I came to your room, I saw the door was locked, so I figured you were looking for it."

I stared at her for a moment, unable to find my voice.

"You should go drop it in my room." I said quietly. My voice was hoarse

She gave me a small nod and turned to leave.

I followed her.

When we reached my room, I opened the door and we stepped inside.

She dropped the shoes on the table and now her head before leaving the room and shutting the door

The moment it shut behind me, I collapsed onto the bed.

And finally, I let the tears fall.

I couldn't hold them in anymore.

I buried my face in my hands as my body shook. My mother... my innocent mother... was at the mercy of whoever had taken her.

Because of him.

Because of Declan.

I pulled out my phone, my hands trembling as I dialed her number.

Ring.

Ring.

Ring.

No answer.

I tried again.

Nothing.

I knew it.

I knew she wouldn't pick up, but still, I had hoped.

I gritted my teeth as fresh tears blurred my vision.

This wasn't fair.

How was I supposed to survive without her?

She was the only person who truly cared about me. The only one who had been there for me.

Losing her wasn't an option.

I laid back, staring at the ceiling, tears still falling.

I didn't want to go to the wedding anymore.

They could find someone else to be their stupid Man of Honor.

I wasn't interested.

Let Declan choose someone just as heartless and wicked as himself. They'd make a perfect match.

I refused to stand beside him like nothing was wrong. Like he hadn't ruined my life.

But then...

A thought hit me.

What if my mom got released?

What if she came looking for me?

Wouldn't she want to see me?

I closed my eyes, breathing heavily.

I had to go.

Not for Declan.

Not for that joke of a wedding.

But for her.

If there was even the slightest chance she'd show up, I had to be there.

I needed to be strong.

Declan needed to start finding solutions now because if anything happened to my mother...

I would never forgive him.

I sat up, wiping my face. Tears still dripped like water, but I ignored them.

With shaking hands, I grabbed the shoes and put them on.

Then I sat there, staring at the wall.

Thinking.

What would happen if we couldn't find her?

What if she was gone forever?

I wouldn't survive it.

I knew I wouldn't.

A knock on my door pulled me from my thoughts.

I let out a shaky breath and cleared my throat. "Who is it?" I asked, my voice rough from crying.

"It's me, sir," came the maid's voice. "I was told to inform you to get ready for the final touches. The car will be leaving with you and Mr. Declan in five minutes."

My stomach twisted in disgust at the thought of sharing a ride with him.

I wanted to refuse.

I wanted to scream at them to leave me alone.

But I didn't have a choice.

I swallowed the lump in my throat and forced myself to speak.

"I'll be there."

Beatrice's (Tyler's Mom) POV

I gasped, my whole body shivering as my eyes flew open.

I didn't know where I was.

I looked around, my breath coming in fast, panicked gasps. The room was dark and empty, except for the chair I was tied to.

My hands were bound behind me.

My heart pounded.

"Where am I?" I whispered, my voice hoarse.

No answer.

"What's happening?" I tried again, my voice louder. "How did I get here?"

Silence.

I was alone.

Panic crept in as I pulled at my restraints, my mind racing to remember what had happened.

And then—

It all came back.

I had been in the car.

I was supposed to be taken to the apartment Declan had promised would be safe.

But the moment Tyler and Declan left...

Everything changed.

The men driving me suddenly made a U-turn.

They sped down the road, heading back to the house.

I had asked what was going on, but before I could even finish my sentence—

!

A hard hit landed across my face, silencing me instantly.

I had been too shocked to speak.

By the time I understood what was happening, they had already reached the house.

They stopped the car and threw me out onto the pavement.

Like I was garbage.

And then—

Before I could even stand up—

Another car pulled in.

Masked men jumped out.

They grabbed me.

I screamed. I kicked. I begged.

But no one came to help.

No one ever did.

Then—

.

A gun slammed against my head.

And everything went dark.

I swallowed hard, my chest rising and falling rapidly.

"I thought Declan agreed to take me to the safe apartment?"

"Why did he betrayed me??? What was his gain ??."

"Why couldn't he just let me go to the apartment, all these could have been prevented.

The flashback shattered as another slap cracked across my face, forcing me back to the horrible present. My head snapped to the side, my cheek burning like it had been set on fire.

Before I could even register the pain—!—another one followed, just as merciless.

Blood trickled from the corner of my lips, the taste of iron making me sick. My breath came in ragged gasps as I forced myself to look up at my captors.

Three men stood before me, their faces obscured by masks. Their eyes, however, were filled with cruel amusement, as if they were enjoying every second of this.

Tears pricked my eyes, I swallowed hard, my throat dry and raw.

"W-What do you want from me?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. "Please, I don't know anything. I—"

One of them stepped forward, crouching to my level. His gloved hand gripped my chin, forcing me to meet his gaze.

"We don't want your money," he said, his voice dripping with venom. "We don't want anything materialistic from you."

His grip tightened.

"The only thing we want..." He leaned in closer, his breath hot against my face.

"...is your life."

"To teach a stubborn man a lesson."
