His Mute Wife: He Can't Sleep After She Left-Chapter 183: Tired of It So Soon?
To stop the "lover" from escaping, Ethan Sinclair didn’t alert anyone, just kept his eyes glued to Kiana Sutton, and marched over to pull her aside roughly.
"Kiana Sutton, how dare you..."
The rest of his words got stuck in his throat when he saw Kiana’s tears.
Kiana was shocked to see Ethan Sinclair there; what’s he doing here?
And so furious, too.
At that moment, Connor Grant, who’d been chasing after them, spotted Zoe Xavier and instantly let out a long, relieved breath. "Ma’am! Fifth Master, it’s the Mrs., not the lover!"
Connor realized he’d said too much, clapped his hand over his mouth right away.
He sneaked a look at Ethan Sinclair and met his icy, warning gaze, which made him run off in fright.
Zoe Xavier shot Ethan a chilly look, "Lover?"
Ethan Sinclair could have died on the spot. Connor Grant was so reliable and efficient, but his mouth needed some serious training.
The moment Ethan saw Zoe Xavier, all his anger deflated like a balloon meeting a needle—gone in an instant.
He didn’t answer Zoe’s question. Instead, after glancing at teary-eyed Kiana, he turned to Zoe Xavier, "Mom, what are you doing here?"
Zoe raised her eyebrows, "Why can’t I be here?"
"... What I meant was, since you’re near Evercrest Group, why didn’t you ask me to join you for a meal?"
"President Sinclair is so busy managing everything; how could I waste your time? So I just asked Kiana to come with me."
Ethan noticed Zoe Xavier’s attitude toward Kiana had shifted, and, with them both wearing matching mother-daughter outfits, he couldn’t help feeling surprised.
This Kiana Sutton really isn’t simple—she’s already won over my mom so fast.
"Since you’re here, help me and Kiana take a few photos."
Zoe Xavier pulled Kiana to her side, and Kiana, a little overwhelmed, heard Zoe laugh and say, "It’s not often we’re dressed up so nicely together—we’ve got to take some photos to remember it."
Kiana nodded eagerly; she couldn’t have agreed more.
Just like that, Ethan Sinclair became the photographer; he took out his phone and aimed the camera at Kiana...
This outfit really brought out all of Kiana’s best features, and maybe because she’d just been crying, her cheeks and nose were tinged with red, like she’d brushed on blush.
Just standing there, she was impossible to look away from.
"Are we done?"
Ethan had been so entranced by Kiana that by the time he snapped out of it, he realized all the photos he’d taken were of Kiana alone.
Damn, what the hell!
"No, Kiana blinked just now; let’s do another one."
Kiana: "..."
Afraid not to do well, she kept her eyes wide, refusing even to blink.
Hmph, it’s obviously his poor photography skills making them look bad, and now he’s blaming her.
Once Ethan was done, he handed the phone to Zoe Xavier, "Is that okay?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
Zoe and Kiana looked together; Kiana thought they were fine, but Zoe frowned, "You really need to work on your photography skills."
Then Ethan Sinclair’s phone buzzed with a WeChat message.
Zoe Xavier saw it was Kate Lynch messaging and frowned slightly, handing the phone back to Ethan and saying to Kiana, "Kiana, go change your clothes."
Once Kiana obediently nodded and left, Zoe looked coldly at Ethan; her face darkened immediately.
"Ethan Sinclair, if you really don’t care about Kiana, then while you still don’t have kids, just get divorced. I don’t want you to end up like your father, and I don’t want Kiana to be the next me."
Ethan’s heart gave a jolt; he looked down and, sure enough, saw the WeChat from Kate Lynch.
Kate Lynch’s mood lately had been pretty bad.
She’d thought the business with Kiana pushing her into the lake would create a rift between Ethan and Kiana.
She kept waiting for Ethan to bring up divorce with Kiana, but it still hadn’t happened.
Today, she’d received a pair of diamond earrings from Ethan Sinclair, supposedly as an apology from Kiana.
To outsiders, it looked like Ethan really valued her feelings, but actually, he was just shielding Kiana.
Kiana refused to apologize, so he did it for her.
For Kate Lynch, this was a bad sign.
So Kate tried to invite Ethan to dinner, but unfortunately, Zoe Xavier saw the WeChat message.
Zoe didn’t dislike Kate Lynch; the first time she met her, she thought Kate was lively, sweet, and really knew how to talk.
But the Kate Lynch of today wasn’t nearly as innocent and cute as she was as a child.
...
When Kiana came out after changing, Zoe Xavier was gone, leaving only Ethan Sinclair, who didn’t look too happy, waiting for her.
The two of them had argued previously over Kate falling in the water.
Kiana was especially stubborn this time. When Ethan told her to write "I’m sorry" a thousand times, she didn’t write even one.
Instead, she rebelliously wrote "I did nothing wrong" over a thousand times.
Based on Ethan’s old temper, he would’ve given her hell for that, so she was a little anxious.
"Why are you just standing there? Let’s go!"
Kiana saw Ethan didn’t bring up that stuff, so she obediently followed behind him.
After a few steps, Ethan suddenly stopped; Kiana wasn’t paying attention and smacked her head against his solid back.
Her head hurt a little from the bump; she instinctively reached up to rub it, when she heard Ethan’s chilly voice, "Don’t watch where you’re going? Serves you right!"
Kiana was speechless. If he hadn’t suddenly stopped, she wouldn’t have crashed into him.
"Have you eaten?"
Kiana was still thinking about the Kate Lynch stuff and was thrown off when Ethan suddenly showed concern.
After seeing her nod, and noticing she didn’t ask anything back, Ethan’s mood got even worse.
"Why aren’t you asking me if I’ve eaten?"
Kiana had no idea what Ethan’s problem was, but she instinctively gestured, "Did you have lunch?"
"Do you think I have time for lunch?"
Just hearing she ate with someone else made him—he didn’t know why—feel an anger in his chest, but mostly an indefinable sense of anxiety.
He had no idea when it started, but somehow Kiana could trigger such strong emotions in him.
Kiana had no clue what Ethan was thinking; as she was about to gesture again, Ethan seemed impatient and dragged her straight to the restaurant.
Once Ethan had her settled on the couch, Kiana quickly gestured, "I already ate."
"Then watch me eat!"
Kiana’s reflex was to sign, "What’s so interesting about watching you eat?"
"Heh... you used to love watching me eat, didn’t you? What, bored of it already?"
Kiana: "..."
She didn’t know if it was just her imagination, but Ethan Sinclair seemed really weird today.
