Chapter 324: Crumbles To Dust Level.
There was a knock on Raquel’s door.
She turned away from her room window which viewpoint surveyed the whole of her father’s estate and pinned her eyes on her door.
She was less than pleased and her grumpy mood all through the day cost her to lock herself in. She told the maid not to disturb her so hearing an unexpected knock on her door, caused her veins to pop out of her head, highly irritated.
"Who’s there?" she managed to ask when the knocking continued without the person saying a word of introduction. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Even when she asked, the person did not give her a reply and it threw her ego off balance. Raquel’s expression darkened with rage and the veins on her neck and face bulged.
She had been sad for unknown reasons after watching the news and when her sadness turned into confusion that graduated into anger, and in her furious mind trying to understand her almost crazy self, she decided to isolate herself only for one sickened human to come to her with one goal - to starve to death.
Yes, whoever should be at her door and cannot speak should be ready to exit her mansion the moment she sees the person, and that way, the person would starve to death and she won’t care.
Angrily, she flung the body magazine on her legs away and walked towards the door. She impatiently opened the door
"You_" she swallowed her curse words.
Her fury immediately cooled down her throat when she saw who stood before her door. She took in a soft gulp and clenched her fist to calm down.
"Raquel," her father called her name fondly, and contrary to Raquel’s furious expression, her father had a smile on his face.
Not in the mood to welcome him in, Raquel used her body as a wall barrier to block her door. Recently, he hasn’t held a proper conversation with her.
He must always add Ethan to the conversations and it irritated her in the greatest way possible. Which was why he should leave her presence without speaking. It would be better if they didn’t talk.
Her father raised a brow at her, "Am I not allowed to come in?" he asked, catching wind of his daughter’s current mood.
Raquel released a sigh and gave him her most honest reply, "I’m in no mood for anyone, Father. I think we should talk tomorrow if you came here to put in words for your potential son-in-law as you have been doing lately,"
Mr. Robert broke into a more cheerful smile, "That isn’t the case princess. You would be elated after hearing what I want to say," he coaxed her into letting him in.
Raquel rolled her eyes scornfully, "If so tell me. I’m all ears," she said creating space for her father to walk in.
Mr. Robert walked towards the window and relaxed his body on her room couch before patting the space beside him for her to occupy.
With less interest, Raquel sat down beside him. Hands folded on her chest, she relaxed her head on the couch headrest and waited for whatever her father would have to say.
"You can now have all that you’ve ever wished for," Mr. Robert began, "The man of your choice and everything that can be fulfilled through him can now be yours,"
Raquel swiped her head to her father with questions swimming in her head and some written all over her face.
"As the world now knows, Mr. Lincoln is now in prison and the higher-ups would have no use for him anymore which means his daughter is now a useless case before them," he said, emphasizing more on his last sentence.
Raquel blinked in disbelief, "How was all of this possible?" she asked.
Mr. Robert shrugged his shoulders, "We should give all the thanks to whoever exposed Alfred so much to prison level,"
Raquel’s jaw drooped to the floor, "I thought Alfred going to prison presents a better chance for the couple to either split or be together in happiness?" and this was what made her furious. The thought of the couple becoming happy.
Mr. Robert nodded, "It sure makes things easy but that would be for Alfred’s daughter alone. Decisions to be made concerning that marriage lies in the hands of Mr. De Guzmen and from my viewpoint, I realize he would want to tie Nicklaus down with another marriage for the boy to remain loyal,"
Raquel scrunched her face at how things in the high-ups are ruled. Does this mean she would also be pushed aside this way if she’s no longer needed?
She contemplated everything for a short moment and asked, "Would Nicklaus agree to this? What makes you so sure he would divorce that wife of his when he already adores her so much?"
Mr. Robert was taken aback by his daughter’s words, "Adore?" he doubtfully repeated.
Raquel nodded, "Yes. In case you all don’t know, he has fallen in love with his wife, even someone from afar can see it," she explained, sounding a bit sarcastic.
She was tempted to laugh at the look of surprise on her father’s face. "What? Why are you so surprised? Do you mean you high-ups don’t place a close watch on their marriage the way you ought to?" she mocked, a bit offended by herself to be the one saying what she was hearing herself say.
Mr. Robert chuckled, "As you said he loves his wife already, do you think that would be enough to stop him from obeying us if we order him to divorce her and get married again?" his voice was filled with humor.
Raquel sat up, "Why are you so sure Nicklaus would do as higher-ups wish even if it meant divorcing his wife?"
Mr. Robert dropped a hand over his daughter’s shoulders, "The business world is a dark place and I’ll never wish for you to be a part of it. I won’t even want to explain how and why but at this moment, all I want you to know is that Nicklaus Wyatt would never go against the higher-ups. Every businessman loves their company and wealth more than any human and if he goes against them in the name of love, he would crumble to the dust level. So be rest assured that he will be yours soon. You hold the upper hand among the remaining two females they are likely to pick a wife from,"
Raquel mind relaxed a bit but not entirely. She felt her father wasn’t telling her everything and things wouldn’t be as easy as her father said for her to walk through - that is if she didn’t give up before she started.
