I Became the Villainess, But My Beast Husbands Can Hear My Mind?!-Chapter 65: A New Life in Our Family
Roxanna pressed her lips into a thin line, then spoke softly. "I’m pregnant..." She paused before adding, "With Azul’s child."
After hearing those words, everyone fell silent. Even Luan, who had been holding Calen back, let him go, only to immediately launch himself toward Azul again.
Zeir finally turned to look at her. He bit the inside of his cheek and clenched his jaw. Cyrus, on the other hand, said nothing and didn’t even move, as if his whole body had frozen.
Then, a few seconds later, Cyrus suddenly collapsed to the ground like a stiff tree branch.
"L-Let’s throw him into the well!" Luan shouted the moment he found his voice again.
"P-Please, don’t fight!" Roxanna tried to stop them, but Calen and Luan had already dragged Azul to the well and thrown him in, clearly hoping he’d drown.
But of course, nothing like that could happen because he was a fish.
Luan slapped his own forehead when he remembered that fact, while Calen started throwing pebbles into the well, hoping at least one would hit Azul.
"Azul! Are you alright?!" Roxanna called out from the edge of the well. She finally let out a sigh of relief when she saw he was completely fine.
Instead of being annoyed, Azul smiled brightly and waved up at her. "Roxanna! Am I really going to be a father?!"
Roxanna’s face turned bright red, and when she cupped her cheeks, her skin felt burning hot. "Yes!" she shouted down into the well so he could hear her. "You’re going to be a father!"
After hearing that, Azul’s smile grew even wider. He even stuck out his tongue at Calen and Luan, as if he were teasing them.
"Bring that fish back up here!" Luan yelled. "I’m going to choke him to death!"
Calen even grabbed a large stone and lifted it over the well, clearly ready to throw it in, but before he could, Roxanna shouted, "Calen! No! Put that stone down, now!"
Calen looked like he still wanted to throw it for a moment, but in the end, he dropped the stone to the ground because he didn’t want to upset Roxanna.
Then, Roxanna pushed Calen and Luan away from the well to keep them back. She turned to Calen. "Didn’t you just say you’d be fine even if the child was Azul’s?"
"I am fine with it!" Calen crossed his arms and turned his face to the side. "I’ll certainly protect you and the baby... but I still want to choke the father!"
"You’re only allowed to do that if he becomes a bad father and husband!" Roxanna pushed Calen back again when he tried to head toward the well.
Honestly, instead of pushing him, it almost looked like she was hugging him because she had to use all her strength just to move him. "If you keep fighting like this, the baby and I will be sad!"
The moment she said that, Calen immediately stopped trying to go to the well. That was when he finally realized that he had been pushing his pregnant wife!
He was the one acting like a terrible husband and father!
"Y-You’d... really be sad?" he asked softly, looking at her with worried eyes.
Roxanna nodded quickly. "Yes! We will be sad! What if the baby thinks our family is terrible and decides to... to get rid of themselves?!"
[I really don’t want to lose a baby again...] Roxanna thought sadly. [What if I miscarry, and my womb becomes useless like in my past life?]
Before she had officially been declared infertile by the doctor, she had once been pregnant. That pregnancy had been terrible, and every day felt like it might be her last.
Her body had become extremely fragile, and the doctor said the pregnancy was very weak. If she continued the pregnancy, both she and the baby would eventually die.
So, at the very least, her ex-husband chose her and allowed the doctors to remove the baby from her womb. Unfortunately, that procedure made her infertile for the rest of her life, and her ex-husband never stopped reminding her of it.
Back then, Roxanna tried to comfort herself by believing that maybe the child already knew their father would become a cruel man, so they chose not to be born.
And now, she was terrified that something like that might happen again.
"No. I won’t let that happen," Calen said firmly. His voice softened. "I won’t let this baby think they have a horrible family, and I won’t throw Azul into the well again. I promise."
"It’s not like he’d die even if we did drown him," Luan muttered. But when Calen glared at him, he quickly cleared his throat and straightened up. "I mean, yes. I also promise I won’t hurt Azul anymore."
Roxanna then turned to Zeir, who had been standing behind them the whole time. She didn’t even need to speak before he said, "I don’t care whose child it is. Any child that grows inside your womb... is ours."
A moment later, Cyrus suddenly sat upright like a corpse rising from the dead. For a second, Roxanna even wondered if he had stopped breathing, though of course, that was impossible.
"Cyrus, are you alright?" Roxanna asked worriedly.
"I don’t know," he sighed, staring blankly forward. "But I’m not going to die from this."
Roxanna let out a small breath of relief, but she still needed to ask one last thing. "You won’t hurt Azul or... the baby, right?"
"No, of course not!" Cyrus turned to look at her. "I won’t hurt the child! And Azul... probably not."
Roxanna couldn’t help clapping her hands happily after hearing their answers. "Then come here, all of you."
Smiling, she took Calen and Luan’s hands, then motioned for Zeir and Cyrus to join in, forming a small circle together.
"Since we’re welcoming a new life into our family," Roxanna said softly, "let’s pray to the universe for the baby’s health."
A moment later, Azul’s voice echoed up from the well. "I’m the father! So why didn’t you invite me to pray too?!"
