Chapter 134: Azureite

Miguel thought for a moment before he accepted the elderly blacksmith’s offer. For one thing, he knew that he was not lying, and second, he knew that 1,000 Gold Coins was actually very cheap for an item made out of such good material. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

However, what the elderly blacksmith said about the Volcanic Iron anvil being defective was true, so its value could only go down. No one was willing to buy such a crude-looking anvil in Red Cliff City either, and even if they planned to reforge it into another item, none of the blacksmiths here in Red Cliff City has the capability to do such a thing, so it was only normal that its price would go down as it has no practical value in Red Cliff City at this moment.

After he paid the Gold Coins, Miguel could not help but ask, "Why didn’t you try to bring this to a bigger city and sell it there?"

The elderly blacksmith shook his head and said, "It’s not feasible. This anvil is very heavy. It might not look like it, but it actually weighs over 1,000 kilograms. Bringing it to another city would require a lot of manpower and capital. And with how dangerous it was to travel from city to city, who could guarantee that they would be able to sell this item in other cities?"

"Instead of doing such a tiring thing, it’s better for it to just rot here and save ourselves from the trouble," he added.

Miguel nodded his head after hearing that. He could somehow understand where he was coming from.

In the end, they were just blacksmiths who loved their jobs. They would rather sit here all day long and forge items than travel from city to city to sell material.

Miguel then told the elderly blacksmith the other things he needed that were related to forging. The elderly blacksmith was very professional and showed him a lot of items they have in their stash.

The elderly blacksmith seemed to have a soft spot for other blacksmiths, or aspiring blacksmiths too. Miguel realized that he was especially accommodating and patient with him.

Meanwhile, Edith decided to take a look around the shop. She went to the swords section and examined the swords displayed on the shelves. As a swordswoman, Edith would only be able to realize her true strength if she was holding a sword.

The Volcanic Wyrm Sword that Aaliyah made hastily disintegrated during her battle with the demon heart. The grade of that sword and how it was made were also not up to par, and Edith had felt sluggish when she wielded it before.

Earlier, Miguel had already informed her of the plans, as well as how they should search for crafting items to let Aaliyah forge items for them.

As she browsed through the displayed swords, Edith’s eyes suddenly gleamed as she saw a sword that was completely different from the rest. The sword itself looks nothing special. What attracted Edith’s attention, though, was its handle.

It was entirely blue in color and looked in contrast compared to the rusty metal the sword blade was made of.

She raised her hand to catch Miguel’s and the elderly blacksmith’s attention.

"Is this handle made of Azureite?"She asked while pointing at the rusty sword displayed at the bottom of the shelf.

As an avid sword lover, it could be said that Edith knew a thing or two about metals too.

The elderly blacksmith went forward with a frown and examined the sword and the handle thoroughly.

"I don’t know any metal with the name of Azureite, but what I can be sure of is that this sword should not be displayed here," he stated with a click of his tongue upon seeing the rusty-looking sword.

"Please wait for a moment," he said as he walked to the back of the shop where the blacksmiths were working.

He came back a while later, bringing a young blacksmith over while pinching the young blacksmith’s ears.

"How many times did I tell you not to display your forged items here without informing me about it? Look at its appearance now. Didn’t you think for a second that this would damage the reputation of our store if it was sold and got rusty after a few days?" the elderly blacksmith scolded as he released the pinch on the young blacksmith’s ears.

The young blacksmith rubbed his searing hot ears with a painful smile as he observed the sword pointed by the elderly blacksmith.

Seeing its appearance, a look of visible confusion appeared on his face.

"But it’s not like this a few days ago, though," he said as he took the rusty sword from the shelf.

"Hmpp! Skill issue!" The elderly blacksmith mocked as he told the young blacksmith to apologize to Edith and Miguel for seeing such a low-quality item in their shop.

The young blacksmith was not arrogant, and he accepted his mistake immediately. He apologized and was about to return to the forging room with the rusty sword when he was stopped by Miguel.

"Wait. Can you let us buy that sword? My companion here seemed to like it," he said after realizing that Edith seemed to have been attracted by the sword’s handle.

"Ehh? But it looks rusty and dull, though," the young blacksmith said worriedly. Like the elderly blacksmith said, he was also worried about the shop’s reputation.

The only reason he inserted this sword here was that he has a fantasy of becoming a legendary blacksmith one day.

But because the senior blacksmiths don’t allow his items to be displayed in the shop, saying that their quality does not meet their standards, he thought that allowing the customers themselves to prove his item’s worth was the best thing to do; hence, he decided to sneak this sword onto one of the shelves.

However, seeing that a customer was actually interested in this sword made him think that perhaps he was truly a talented blacksmith and that his potential was now being unearthed.

"It doesn’t matter. But can I ask where you found the material you used for its handle?" Edith answered; her gaze still did not leave the blue-colored handle of the sword.
