As Miguel read the recent logs, a light suddenly engulfed him along with his grimoire that was floating beside him.

The others immediately turned their heads towards him. Each of them had a look of astonishment on their faces, especially the grimoire users who looked at Miguel in clear confusion and bewilderment.

As the light dissipated, Miguel turned to look at the newly refreshed logs on his grimoire. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚

[Your Experience Points have reached the level cap. You have been promoted to Intermediate Apprentice Rank Summoner.]

[Due to your recent performance, you have been rewarded with [Precise Strike] Level +1]

"Miguel, you ranked up?"

Even before Miguel could absorb what was happening, Erika’s excited voice had already entered his ears.

He turned to look at her and noticed the envious and awestruck gaze of the people around him.

Knowing that he could not hide anything, Miguel nodded his head in affirmation to her question, "Yes. According to the grimoire, I have been promoted to Intermediate Apprentice Rank."

When a grimoire user ranks up, either by a major or minor level, the light would always engulf them, as though announcing to the whole world their accomplishment. This was a common knowledge that the grimoires would inform their users when they first awakened. Mercenaries and people who yearned or at least, dreamed to awaken a grimoire knew of this common knowledge as well.

The grimoire summoners as well as the others look at Miguel in awe.

"How? Didn’t you just awaken recently?" This time, Gasper could not finally not sit still and asked in bewilderment.

He had awakened a few months ahead than Miguel, yet he was still at the Beginner Apprentice Rank at this moment. One must know that unlike Beasts, grimoire and summoner rank can only be upgraded through battle and rewards from the World’s Will. Heck, the only reason why his Fire Wolf ranked up to Level 2 was only due to the special crystal that his mom had fed it.

Although he had already accepted his defeat before, he actually did not want to give up yet.

He knew that Miguel had already overtaken him due to his Bronze Grade Beast and instantaneous summoning, but he was still unconvinced even when his mother already said to give up for now as Miguel has clearly been favored by Marcel and perhaps by the whole family in a few weeks.

However, as he awakened ahead of Miguel, he planned to challenge him once more when he ranked up to the Intermediate Apprentice Rank and when his beast gained some levels to counter his Bronze Grade Beasts. He decided to lay-low and challenge him again after improving by leaps and bounds.

One must know that as the rank of summoner increases, the degree of connection they had with their beast would increase as well. This means that they would be able to communicate more clearly and hence would be able to battle more efficiently. An increase in rank also meant less time spent on summoning the grimoire.

Hearing his question, everyone turned to look at Miguel, waiting for his response.

However, it was Erika who answered the question with a smile.

"Actually, it’s not strange for him to rank up at this moment."

"You saw how he defeated that demonic beast earlier, right? I heard from a senior in school that demonic beasts are actually very special and important for grimoire summoners like us."

"According to her, when a summoner defeats a demonic beast, the experience points they receive would actually be twice compared to normal. If you are evaluated with a good rating, this means that your experience points would multiply even more."

"However, one would only see the difference if one fought a demonic beast on their own. One must know that when a fight occurs, the World’s Will would always evaluate if there was any form of outside help. If there was, then the experience points earned would only be reduced to around 25 percent compared to normal. "

"However, Miguel clearly killed that demonic beast earlier, and with his own hands at that. I can only imagine just how much experience points were awarded to him by the World’s Will," Erika explained with a smile on her face. Even she herself admired Miguel for what he did earlier.

Perhaps, this was what a real genius was.

Domen? A genius? Compared to Miguel, he was nothing. Without the support of the whole family with him being the Main branch’s direct son, would he have reached that point by now?

Miguel nodded his head and added, "She’s right. I received a substantial amount of experience points from the battle earlier, allowing me to get promoted by a minor level immediately."

Erika smiled, seemingly proud of herself for being able to explain this to her juniors. At the same time, she pressed her waist to feel the letter that her father asked her to give to the main head once they arrived at the main branch.

Gasper slumped back to the ground, obviously dejected by what he had just heard.

On the other hand, the mercenaries could only shake their head in envy.

"Grimoire users are indeed the favorite of the heavens," Murphy muttered to himself.

No one denied his words as this was indeed the truth.

Imagine ranking up after fighting an opponent. Not only were they favored and seemed to always be monitored by the World’s Will, each of them even has their own unique Innate Skill. This was very fraudulent. Crystal Summoners like him could only cry in silence and stare at the Levelling light in envy.

Miguel unsummoned his grimoire and looked at Murphy, "You’re not bad either. You have already achieved a Martial Artist Rank, right?"

Hearing that, Murphy smiled to himself, "Same goes to you, freak! I know that it isn’t a mere Innate Skill that killed that beast. You’ve already reached the Intermediate Novice Martial Artist Rank, right?"

With Miguel’s feat earlier, everyone has already guessed this point as well. However, they did not expect for him to actually be at the Intermediate Novice Martial Artist already. One must know that becoming a Martial Artist requires time and effort. One could not simply become a martial artist just because they wanted to.

Murphy, for example, took almost twenty years in total just to reach Beginner Novice Rank. And he only achieved it when he was at the brink of death with his fight with that beast that made him a little famous throughout the mercenary circle in Blazing City.

And with the Innate Skill of being able to phase in and out of existence that he utilized earlier, everyone now believed that Miguel was now the second strongest of this group.

Erika, who had awakened for two years, was still considered the strongest by them. Of course, only Erika knew that Miguel was already stronger than her at this point.

Miguel merely smiled at Murphy’s remark. There was no need for him to tell his exact level to them.

On the other side, Gasper’s neck shrunk even more upon hearing that information. It seems that his chances of a comeback have become dimmer and dimmer.

He could not help but recall what his uncle Marcel, and cousin Erika told him a few days ago after his defeat.

"You can’t defeat him. Although you are a genius for being able to summon your grimoire in a few seconds, you still can’t compare to him who can summon his grimoire in an instant. Give up with your vengeful thoughts and use this as a motivation to get stronger instead. You’ll only succumb even more if you don’t let go of this obsession."

Reality was proven to be even more cruel. The disparity between a fake genius and a real genius was like the disparity between heaven and earth. Gasper realized this first hand right now.

He sat in the corner, lost in his own thoughts.

As the others talked about his accomplishment, Miguel decided to divert their attention by asking a question that he was also curious about.

"Where do these kinds of beasts come from anyways?"
