Chapter 46: Clutch

The second demonic hyena emerged and instantly pounced towards the unsuspecting Murphy.

Murphy still had his eyes closed, focusing on summoning his Level 3 Beast. Randy and the others were still holding the first demonic hyena back, not allowing it to disturb Murphy’ summoning.

On the other hand, Erika and the others had just emerged from their tents. Even if they wanted to, it would take time for them to summon their grimoire, much less their beasts after that.

At this time, only one person remained calm and unperturbed.

Miguel, who has stayed on his spot since earlier, had always been on guard. He did not forget the shadow that went past them earlier. He did not believe that it was the same demonic hyena that was dragging a dead beast.

Hence, he did not join the fight and observed the surroundings, waiting for this beast to emerge and act.

Upon seeing movements behind Murphy, Miguel did not waste any more time and took out the dagger on his waist. His body disappeared like smoke and emerged right behind the second demonic hyena.

It just so happened that someone had lit up a fire earlier, allowing him to utilize the shadows around him with the Shadow Steps.

The second demonic hyena was still unaware of what was about to happen. In fact, only a few eyes managed to catch a glimpse of the hyena creeping behind Murphy due to the dark.

However, when Miguel emerged from behind the beast, those who witnessed it were obviously stupefied.

Miguel did not stop and immediately attacked the unsuspecting hyena with his graded dagger.

Without a suspense, the extremely sharp dagger stabbed right into the hyena’s neck.

With Miguel’s current strength, the attack was not wasted and the dagger was embedded into the hyena’s neck. Not to mention that Miguel actually used a newly learned skill on this attack, doubling it’s effectiveness.

[Skill: (Precise Strike (Level 1))

Description/Effects: Deal twice the damage when striking a vital spot of the enemy.]

Miguel did not stop and stabbed two more times before the hyena dropped to the ground with a thud. His body fully materialized right behind its corpse at the next second, coldly looking at the now dead demonic beast.

Dark blood dripped the dagger as he waved his hands to finally summon the Volcanic Tortoise to join the battle.

It was only when the hyena dropped to the ground that everyone finally realized what had happened.

Murphy’s face loses color in horror, realizing the predicament that he had just been subjected to.

On the other hand, Randy clicked his tongue and shouted at the top of his lungs, "Stop dawdling and help us with this one!"

Three of them were already injured from the demonic hyena’s attack. One was severely injured and has a huge wound on his chest. It was obvious that this demonic beast was way stronger compared to the one that Miguel had killed.

Murphy recovered from his stupor upon hearing Randy’s frantic shout.

At this time, the beast that he had been proud of was finally summoned in front of him.

It was a humongous bighorn sheep. A Level 3 Normal Grade Bighorn Sheep.

The moment it appeared, Murphy immediately ordered it to attack the agile demonic hyena.

With the Bighorn Sheep and the Volcanic Tortoise joining the fray, the hyena did not last long and succumbed to its death. If that was not enough, Erika and the other grimoire summoners of the group have already prepared to support them by summoning their respective as well.

Unfortunately, by the time they summoned their grimoires, the battle had already ended.

Murphy’s Bighorn Sheep was proven to be strong and tough. It always attacked with a headbutt and it managed to concuss the agile Demonic Hyena, allowing for the Volcanic Tortoise to accurately hit it with Molten Spit.

Randy and the others gathered the two corpses of the two demonic beasts over. These two corpses had no uses and could only be disposed of. However, they needed to burn them to ashes first else if another beast consumed them, there were chances that their mind would get corroded by the demonic miasma and they would become demonic beasts as well.

They gathered and burned the two demonic corpses together as they nursed the wounded. Fortunately, there was a grimoire summoner that has a beast that specializes in healing from the female group so Randy and the others’ situation was resolved for the time being.

They watched the two corpses getting burned as they recounted the events earlier. They sang praises to Miguel and even admired him for being strong despite being just a recent awakener.

The group renewed their understanding about him. Erika did not say anything but she was actually amazed deep down as well. Unlike the others, she knew for a fact that Miguel doesn’t have an Innate Skill. So, she guessed that what he used earlier must be a new skill rewarded to him by the World’s Will.

Although this rule has always existed, it was actually very rare to receive an additional reward from the World’s Will unless when one ranked up to the next realm which guarantees an additional reward.

She could not help but envy Miguel at how lucky he was for obtaining a skill from the World’s Will.

In fact, not only her, if others knew of this fact, they would also envy his luck.

As they talked they also asked Murphy about his Bighorn Sheep.

Murphy shook his head and said, "I actually planned to keep this a secret and make it as my trump card, I did not expect that I would immediately use it."

"Well, long story short. I bought a bronze grade Summoning Crystal and searched for a suitable beast to bind with it. After returning, it was already my turn to rent the Wind Horses and it just so happened that Miss Erika was hiring mercenaries for this trip so I did not pass up with the opportunity to earn big bucks with little to no effort."

"Alas, I just did not expect for our luck to be this bad. First that Gold King Beast, and then this Demonic Beast... sigh!" Murphy lamented as he returned the Bighorn Sheep to the crystal, earning the envy of the other mercenaries.

At the same moment they were talking, Miguel was also checking the recent logs on his summoning grimoire.
