Chapter 51: Leaving

With the Condensed Water Ores on his hand, Miguel did not want to search for any more water-attributed materials for now.

Aside from not having money to buy it for now, he also realized that it would really be hard to find suitable water-attributed materials and resources in a place like Blazing Expanse. Even the Condensed Water Ores he got was not something really great.

In the knowledge that he got, the Volcanic Tortoise of ancient times consumed more than a thousand kilograms of Condensed Water Ores before it managed to evolve.

He only had 11 pieces of them now, just totaling to around 4 kilograms. If he wanted to rely on letting the Volcanic Tortoise evolve using this material, then he must work hard and find a water cave full of them.

However, Miguel thought even if he found a water cave full of them, it would not be worth it.

If he found a water-attributed material potent enough, then he could let the Volcanic Tortoise evolve with much less hassle and less effort needed. However, finding that potent water-attributed was very hard. Miguel knew of this fact. For now though, he could only settle with these Condensed Water Ores.

Miguel strolled around the busy market and perked up his ears to grasp some information. He even went inside some shops and inquired if there were any demon beast related issues lately in Red Cliff City.

After some time, Miguel decided to return to the inn.

When he arrived, he realized that the others had already returned as well.

Looking at their expression, Miguel knew that their search was not fruitful, just like his.

Regardless, he sighed and asked, "Found anything?"

All of them shook their heads.

"I’ve already asked around in the mercenary circle, however, there is no report of demon beast being reported lately in Red Cliff City. They said that the last one was around two weeks ago and our case was the very recent one," Randy stated.

Miguel frowned upon hearing that. Even at the market earlier, most people there also haven’t heard of demon beast sightings lately. He thought that it might just be because the people at the market don’t go out of the city, but even if the mercenary circle was not aware of it, then it was already a different thing.

"I’ve also asked around in the Red Family branch in Red Cliff City, however, there were also no reports of demon beasts for the past week.," Erika added.

"Could it be that this is a recent thing and the city has not heard of it, yet?" One of them could not help but ask.

The others nodded their heads. This was indeed a possibility. Whatever was going, perhaps had only started yesterday and it just so happened that they were the first to witness it.

Miguel frowned as he sat in front of the others. He knew for a fact that this was not an isolated case, however, there was no clear evidence that something was going on behind the scenes for now.

"Or maybe, luck was not on our side yesterday and what we encountered was just pure coincidence?" Randy added.

The others nodded their heads, agreeing to his words.

"Well, we should at least wait for a few more days just to be safe. For the meantime, we can still go around and see if we could find any related issues to these incidents. If nothing happens during it, then I guess we can continue our journey to Blazing City," Miguel stated.

The others agreed with his words. It was better to be safe than to be sorry. Being cautious was also a skill that every one of them should develop if they value their lives.

After deciding to stay in Red Cliff City for a few days, everyone went to their respective rooms rented by Erika. The inn was not cheap and cost 3 Silver Coins per night. However, for Erika, a Grimoire User and a member of Red Family, this amount was nothing.

Just like that, two days passed in the blink of an eye.

The others gathered for another little meeting. They were obviously relieved as if a boulder was lifted off their shoulders.

In the end, no demonic beasts were sighted around Red Cliff City.

A hint of relief washed over everyone. They regarded the case as them being unlucky and were grateful that it was so. If not, and something was truly brewing behind the scenes, then it would become a huge problem.

Fortunately it ended just like that.

"With that being confirmed, I guess it’s alright if we continue our journey now? We have already been delayed and if we delay even more, we will have to pay more for renting the Wind Horses," Randy stated with a wry smile.

After some thought, Erika nodded her head and agreed. She was afraid that her mission would be delayed and cause her to lose some points.

"Let’s set off this afternoon after lunch," she said.

Seeing that they already made a decision, Miguel did not bother convincing them otherwise. However, he still felt that something was odd.

Nevertheless, since they were already set on continuing the journey, he just stayed silent, but deep inside, he had never lowered his guard. For that reason, he chose not to summon the Volcanic Tortoise for the remainder of this journey, and leave the quota to Aaliyah unless something unexpected happens.

Time passed and after they were done eating lunch, the eight carriages once again made their way to Blazing City.

Blazing City was 3 whole days away from Red Cliff City. They planned the route in advance, which area they would stop at and so on. With the previous incident, the group also did not dare to be careless anymore. Even though they confirmed and attributed the incidents to pure bad luck, who knew if the bad luck was still there.

As its name implies, Red Cliff City has a deep cliff due north. There was a path in the middle of this cliff, and it was the only path leading to Blazing City.

Thirty minutes later, Miguel and the others saw this huge red cliff.
