I Can Contract Beauties-Chapter 52: Red Cliff, New Skills
Even from afar, the Red Cliff was already visible. It was two cliffs facing each other. Like a mountain that has been split into two, there was a huge gap in between them. The two cliffs were more than two hundred meters apart.
This place was quite popular in Red Cliff City. According to the information Miguel had recently learned, this Red Cliff was at least a kilometer deep. This cliff was also extremely long. It was said that it actually connects to the sea at the northwest.
He also heard that deep beneath this Red Cliff were powerful beasts. It was said that no one has ever returned trying to explore the area below.
At this moment, the edge of the Red Cliff was full of people. Not only because this was close to the city, this place had actually become an attraction and a calm place for others. The part with many people was of course, just the edges and the arc that connects the two cliffs together. It was also this arc that acted as the only gateway or road for anyone who wanted to cross over to the next cliff.
As the eight carriages passed over the arc, the others, specially the new awakeners who saw the scene for the first time gazed out to observe this majestic cliff. However, when they glanced down, they felt horrible due to how deep it was. It was to the point that the bottom could no longer be seen, only darkness.
Miguel also looked at this Red Cliff in curiosity. He had long seen a lot of sceneries from his previous life, most of them were a thousand times bigger and grander compared to this Red Cliff. He did not feel anything upon looking at it aside from feeling nostalgic and wary for some reason. Miguel thought that the origin of this cliff should not be simple.
A 200 meter path was not that long. The group passed by the arc and successfully made their way to the second cliff.
The further they were from Red Cliff City, the fewer mercenaries and travelers they encountered. More and more trees also appeared in the distance as the Dormant Mountain gradually left their view.
The further they were from the city, the more tension they felt as well. Even though they had already convinced themselves that the previous incidents were all due to bad luck, they still could not help but overthink.
Inside the carriage, Miguel was still very calm. This was all due to his confidence in himself.
Instead of worrying about something that has no guarantee of occurring, he decided on focusing on his own inner world instead.
During their stay in Red Cliff City, Miguel has already managed to save up a total of five Origin Energy drops. He was actually ready to refine his body once more earlier but since the group had decided to set off hastily, he decided to postpone it and do it when the time was right.
And just like that, five hours passed in the blink of an eye. Just like what they had planned in advance, the group managed to arrive at their planned stop just in time.
The group decided to rest here for the night. The place they were in was inside a cave right below a stone cliff. They specially chose this location due to it being safe here, it was Randy who recommended this spot and said that there were only a few people who know this place including him.
The cave only has one entrance and was pretty accessible. It has a wide and huge space inside without any form of obstruction. They can easily check the surroundings for beasts or any dangers inside. The entrance could also be blocked by their carriages, not allowing anything to step inside.
The downside of this place of course, was also pretty obvious.
Miguel did not stop their actions and just agreed, merely going with the flow. In fact, he had not spoken any words after leaving Red Cliff City at all.
At one corner of the cave, Miguel set up his makeshift tent. Sara was very considerate and bought all the things he might need for their journey. His bag being full was not an exaggeration at all.
As everyone set up their own tents, the servants also began to cook for their dinner. The carriages acted as a barricade, forming half a circle in front of the cave’s mouth.
Due to the previous incident, everyone was alert and careful.
Perhaps, at this moment, only Miguel was calm enough. He has his eyes closed and meditated, calming his mind.
The reason for his confidence was due to the skill he recently created and developed.
[Skill: Divine Sense- cast a wave of sphere-shaped energy waves around to sense everything around you clearly. (Level 1) ]
Due to the previous incident, Miguel specially created this skill for his own advantage.
By using the drops of Origin Energy inside him, he can continuously cast this skill for a long period of time. With this skill, Miguel could practically see and sense anything around him even with him having his eyes closed. It could also penetrate behind hard objects as long as he put his mind to it. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Depending on the area, the energy consumption would become miniscule to the point that a drop of Origin Energy would only be fully consumed after five days from his estimation.
This was a very powerful skill that he could use to his advantage. Due to the skill’s level, the current limit of the scan was just a radius of 10 meters around him. He could retract it and make it just 5 meters to save some energy but he could not exceed the 10 meters radius even if wanted to use more Origin Energy to cast it.
Creating a skill was never easy. Even though Miguel has learned a lot of techniques and martial arts from his previous life, it was still hard converting them into this world’s skills. The harder they were, the more time he would have spent before it could manifest into a skill of this world.
Aside from [Divine Sense], Miguel also created another skill, called [Flame Jump].
He actually just created this skill for an experiment which turned out to be good.
[Skill: Flame Jump- user can phase in and out of your fire in a small distance. (Level 1)]
This skill was like the Shadow Steps, but instead of shadows one can instead teleport directly to a fire. Unlike Shadow Steps, it also doesn’t have any other effects other than being able to teleport to a fire within a 10 meter radius from the user.
The reason why he made this was due to the Volcanic Tortoise.
Miguel theorized that since the contracted beast skills could only be cast if the summoner themselves knew of such skills, then it should also be possible for him to teach a skill to a contracted beast regardless if their race had such a skill or not.
After he created the skill, he immediately used it and let the Volcanic Tortoise’s learn it as well.
The experiment was a success as after about ten tries, the tortoise actually managed to cast the skill after receiving an order from Miguel. With this skill, its disadvantage of being a slow moving tortoise was naturally removed.
When he tried to teach it Shadow Steps, it could not learn it no matter what. Miguel knew that this was due to their different attributes but he still tried regardless.
Not only the Volcanic Tortoise, Aaliyah could also learn this skill, and any fire-related skill that he will create in the future. If he ever contracted other beasts in the future, he could also create a set of skills for them to learn according to their attributes.
Not only would these strengthen and increase Miguel’s arsenal of skills, it could also strengthen his beasts, making it seem like a double result with minimal effort.
Miguel realized that perhaps, this was the real usage of him being able to create any skills he wanted.
The Boundless Sage of Knowledge Skill was indeed terrifying. It was befitting of its grand name.
With these two new skills and addition to his successful experiment, Miguel was naturally very confident in making himself safe.
As the [Divine Sense] was cast, the area around ten meter radius around him appeared on his mind as if he was seeing it with his own eyes.
A moment later, Miguel tilted his head as he just found something interesting from his ’vision’.
