I Faked My Death—Now I Have to Tame the Crazy Men I Left Behind-Chapter 37 - 35: The Fake Heiress Scorned by Everyone
Mia Grant was no stranger to such looks.
’How familiar,’ she thought.
Looks filled with mockery and ridicule, brimming with malice.
She could even read their minds from their gazes, discerning what they were thinking and what they were whispering about her behind her back.
She had experienced it so often that she had grown accustomed to it. She didn’t feel the slightest bit of unease or panic.
Just confused, and a little curious.
Only a lunch break had passed. What on earth had happened to make these people stare at her with such scrutinizing eyes?
Mia Grant pulled out her phone and logged into the campus forum as she walked.
When she left, her roommates were still resting. No one was keeping up with the drama on the forums or in the campus group chats, so she was a bit out of the loop.
She opened the forum, and without even needing to scroll down, a striking headline dominated her screen, compelling her to click.
[Fake Daughter’s Successful Coup? First She Stole the Campus Belle’s Family, Now She’s Stealing Her Boyfriend?]
The post was so pointed that Mia Grant didn’t even need to click on it to read the details; she knew she was the subject.
The original poster claimed that the campus belle had a younger sister in the same department. They had run into her in class today, where the sister had acted intimately with the campus belle’s boyfriend, causing the campus belle to storm out in anger.
Below, a crowd of people was trying to figure out who the sister was. Some were just there for the drama, while others were defending the campus belle, throwing disgusting insults at the sister.
Her eyes swept over one of the comments calling her a "homewrecker," and Mia Grant chuckled.
’How interesting.’
Putting her phone away, Mia Grant glanced at the school infirmary, which was just a hundred meters ahead.
She really hated dealing with sullen types like Felix Sinclair.
Every time she was with Felix Sinclair, she felt the urge to ask, "What are you angry about now?"
Still, he had his merits besides being handsome.
He was a good student and often tutored her.
Her high school days before she transmigrated into the book felt like a distant memory. After transmigrating, if it hadn’t been for Felix Sinclair, she really might not have gotten into Jynsia U.
So, out of kindness, she had been planning to go check on him.
After all, the state he was in this morning... was genuinely frightening.
But now, she didn’t want to go anymore.
Or rather, she now had something more important, something she wanted to deal with more.
As for those men, let them fend for themselves.
The tiny bit of conscience she had was too busy to worry about whether they lived or died.

「Academic Building Two.」
Mia Grant ascended the stairs slowly. People who saw her scrambled to get out of her way, as if she were some kind of plague they were afraid to touch.
She didn’t care. It was perfect that they moved, clearing a path for her.
"How does she have the nerve to show up for class?"
"To think someone so morally corrupt is a student at our Jynsia U. If word gets out, it will ruin the university’s reputation."
"She looks completely unfazed. Has she not seen it yet? Or is she just faking it?"
"Pfft, she’s so thick-skinned, she probably wouldn’t care even if she did see it."
"True. She usurped the real daughter’s identity, stole her parents and brother, and now she’s trying to steal her boyfriend. She’s shameless!"
"..."
Mia Grant stepped onto the final stair, turned, and looked down at them from her higher vantage point.
The group noticed her gaze and immediately fell silent.
The corners of Mia Grant’s lips curved up slightly, as if she weren’t the center of their conversation at all.
The girl was still smiling, but her eyes were cold and indifferent.
She wore a British-style dress, looking like an arrogant little princess who had stepped right out of an oil painting. She lifted her chin slightly, her lowered gaze sweeping over them as if she were casually observing the ants at her feet.
"If you’re all so curious about me, you can interact with me face-to-face next time.
I’m a very friendly person, you know. Nothing’s off-limits. I have lots of hobbies and I love to chat.
Especially with... little critters who chirp about people behind their backs."
The girl’s eyes narrowed, her smile deceptively harmless. "We can have a nice long chat when we get the chance."
Someone caught the hidden meaning in her words. "You!"
"Ah-ah," Mia Grant tutted, wagging her index finger in the air. "Not today."
"You’ll have to get in line. I’m in a hurry to see another performance right now. See you~"
As soon as she finished speaking, the girl’s expression shifted in an instant. The smile vanished, replaced by a cold mask as she turned and walked away in her leather shoes, disappearing from public view.
Inside the classroom, the teacher hadn’t arrived yet.
Mia Grant pushed the door open and stepped inside. The once-raucous classroom instantly fell silent, a dead quiet hanging in the air.
"Serena... it’s Mia Grant!" Serena Grant’s friend was the first to react.
By the time Serena Grant looked up, Mia Grant was already walking toward her.
As the little princess raised in the Grant Family, even the way she walked was more graceful than others. The heels of her leather shoes made a rhythmic CLICK-CLACK-CLICK on the floor.
Serena Grant’s hand, holding her book, tightened.
It had been a year since she returned to the Grant Family, yet she still couldn’t compare to Mia Grant in any way.
Mia Grant acted more like a high-society daughter than she did. She was better than her at everything!
Whether it was her bearing and speech or her academics, even the dancing she had once been so proud of...
She was the real daughter! What right did Mia Grant have to take everything that was hers!
She thought Mia Grant was dead, that she could finally become the true young lady of the house, but in the end—
She wasn’t dead!
Not only was she standing before her, completely unscathed, but she had also gotten into Jynsia U!
She herself had barely scraped by the cutoff score for Jynsia U, but Mia Grant’s grades in high school had guaranteed her a spot.
Mia Grant stopped in front of her. A simple smile graced her lovely face as she gave a little wave. "Good afternoon—"
"Big Sister."
Hearing herself addressed that way again, Serena Grant grew inexplicably nervous. "Do you need something from me? Class is about to start. Let’s talk outside so we don’t disturb everyone."
"Let’s just talk here." Mia Grant placed a hand on her shoulder, pushing her back down into her seat.
"You worked so hard all through lunch, Big Sister. It must have been exhausting. You should rest. We can talk while you sit."
"What do you mean by that?" Serena Grant frowned.
"I saw the post you made on the forum, Big Sister."
"Typing all those words, replying to so many people... that must have taken up your entire lunch break, right?"
"Such a painstaking effort. I’m so moved, really. That’s why I came to thank you as soon as I woke up."
"I don’t know what you’re talking about. I was resting in my dorm all through lunch. Mia, did you run into some kind of trouble? You don’t think I had something to do with it, do you?"
Serena Grant laughed as well. "As your big sister, I’m more than willing to help you. But it’s hurtful to be slandered like this."
"Here, coffee." Ignoring her, Mia Grant gently placed a can of coffee she’d bought from a vending machine on the desk, thoughtfully popping the pull-tab for her.
"Aren’t you going to drink it, Big Sister?" She pushed it forward. "It’s a new flavor. A collaboration with green tea, I think."
"It should be pretty good. After all, I can smell a strong scent of ’tea’ just standing here."
As she finished speaking, a cold glint flashed in Mia Grant’s eyes. She snatched the coffee can and flung its contents out.
