I Reawakened as an Inferno Hero-Chapter 13: RUN!
Chapter 13: RUN!
The wind the helicopters propelled came at Axel like a torpedo. He instantly broke into a run with that, his footfalls hitting the ground very briskly and his motion faster than normal human speed.
His head throbbed, at least it ought to, noting he had just taken part in a very rigorous fight, one that almost took his life.
The helicopters followed him now, and Axel, looking back, felt he was in trouble.
Now, he knew the nooks and crannies of his street. But this city? He was well a newbie, and so it would be hard moving around.
The thing was, he hadn't really mastered how to fly, and so at times, swerving around corners and ducking in the air might be impossible. Axel knew superheroes trained when they got their powers, but him? The case seemed to be different.
Axel took a corner that led to a more remote part of the city. A dustbin was in front of him, one that he had to jump over to dodge. He almost fell, but with a little heave of his chest upwards, he steadied himself and moved his head back to prevent a fall.
All around him was windy now. The helicopters were the cause, and so to run, surrounded by them, was the problem. It felt mentally taxing to Axel, who felt like giving up altogether.
"Don't run, fire guy!" the voice said and seemed to add a mocking laugh. "There's honestly nowhere for you to go."
Axel had already decided that he wouldn't argue or mince words with them. There was no time for bickering. His life now depended on his own hands. Only he could save himself now. But it seemed daunting. He had literally been bloated from the fight, and now a chase?
'Why me?' he thought.
The sound the helicopters made, sounding like choppers, was almost incessant, and it got on his nerves.
Throwing a glance backward, Axel could see a figure silhouetted in black clothing, gesturing for him to stop. Axel looked forward now, and when he looked back again, his mind felt like exploding.
His mind couldn't seem to fabricate this reality!
The figure was now on a sleek and fancy-looking bike. And then, before Axel knew it—
VROOOOOOOOMM!
The bike was coming down, and the rider was somersaulting on it.
'Holy shii—' Axel exclaimed.

Surprisingly, the bike landed on the roof (cemented) of a building and was now heading his way.
Axel knew he had to fly. It was the only way. And even though he hadn't really mastered his flying skills, he at least could fly, and that, right now, was all that mattered.
With a hard and loud stomp of his feet, Axel, with the similitude of a hawk taking flight from the ground, plunged very fast into the sky. So fast his movement seemed like the blinking of an eye.
Axel flew just a bit above the ground, not going too high as he dreaded being cut to pieces by the helicopter propellers. And now, as he was battling to balance himself in the air and fly fast, he heard a sibilant sound, and then...
[DING]
A screen was in front of him.
Axel felt livid by that. It was blocking his view. He couldn't see where he was going now.
"Damn! Damn! Damn! I don't need this now!" he said loudly, although the loud sound of the helicopter subdued it a bit.
[Hero profile scanning]
The screen acted like it was going to radiate a bright light, but then...

Axel wasn't seeing anything forward now. The screen had blocked his way completely, and he was pissed off.
He was almost triggered to punch the screen, but he just stared at it, peeved.
"C'mon! Why didn't the damn screen show earlier?"

The screen vanished, and Axel, blinking now, saw that the wall of a building was in front of him.
He only gave out a sigh.
To him, his system appearing and blocking his view was pure tomfoolery, but what could he do? The situation felt pathetic to him, by the way. He had been flying forward the whole time at such an amazing speed. He hadn't looked where he was heading, and now, reminiscing on it before he hit this wall, made him smile.
THOOOOM!
He bumped into the wall, and doing so, he did that with great force, as it seemed he had no control of actually regulating his speed.
Axel fell.
It was more like 'Axel slumped'
He could hear the tearing of the bike engine now. Feeling dazed and his head throbbing very hard, what could he do? He would just blindly follow his fate, he had resolved. His fate of damnation.
Axel could see the helicopters, all landing around him now. The bike had already stopped, and the rider was out, walking toward his path, brandishing a gun that looked like a pistol in her hand.
Axel felt damned.
Was this the end?
