Chapter 30: A confined fight

And so, it began.

Axel had a plan. He was going to make this real quick. He didn't see the use in prolonging the fight or even exchanging words.

He had decided that even if they talked, he wouldn't reply. He would just be silent and fight.

He stood by the middle of the superheroes. Them standing and some flying beside him felt cool. It felt like he was a leader even though he wasn't.

Well, technically, here he was, and he was going to implement that very much well.

The other superheroes flexed their powers, Dan clenching his fists and radiating a sort of electromagnetic field around him.

Axel looked at the dead bodies of the superheroes and shook his head in sympathy. He came to a conclusion:

The Extremats didn't deserve to live.

And he was going to make them cease existing.

He pounced forward like a bullet being shot out of a pistol. His motion was so swift and in sync, the others were doing so also.

Dusk Rider was summoning a horse now. It came, and she mounted it, flying it in the sky and briskly going through an Extremat.

Spinal Edge's powers were weird and not the most pleasing to look at, but she used them. She removed her neck bone and forged it into a glowing, laser-like bone weapon, now throwing it at the Extremat Dusk Rider had gone into.

Spinal Edge's power was fascinating and, to Axel, the most unique and unreal-looking. Her neck bone had instantly grown back. Axel doubted if the act of removing the neck bone would have ached her because she showed no sign it did. Even if it ached her, it would just be a little bit.

Mirrormeld was duplicating herself now. Duplicating powers weren't that unique or shocking to Axel, as he had read a comic about one and watched an animated series about another. But Mirrormeld's own wasn't the common duplicating power.

Any time she duplicated, a ghost-looking mirror appeared in front of her, following the copies and even her anywhere they went. And even though they might seem or look useless, they were actually the perfect distraction.

Axel was impressed. These were really cool powers. But before, when the Extremats first came, everyone had been scared. No one had a morsel of courage to take on the Extremats, and even those that did went in blindly without any teamwork or cooperation.

Perhaps him (Axel) standing up against the Extremats had given them hope. Perhaps he had made the almighty Extremats look vulnerable, and they were not so powerful after all?

BOOM!

Axel hit the first robotic-looking Extremat in the middle of his face with his Inferno Sword. The face of the Extremat was protected by the steel high-tech armor of its robotic suit, which made Axel think he should have struck better.

Stormcrux sent cloudish-looking fire bolts at the Extremat Axel had just hit with his sword, and that made him stagger backward more greatly, ready to fall.

Ready to fall?

This was the perfect moment to gain momentum.

This was the perfect moment to take the lead in the battle.

That was where Pyresteed, a fire-charged centaur when transformed, known as Ezra Maddox in real life, made himself a spear and charged into the falling Extremat.

BOOM!

He fell!

Axel was thrilled by the sight.

The other Extremat was angered by that and raged at them, emitting all sorts of weapons from his hands, but the superheroes were flicking them away.

Axel glanced over to Royal Cloak and saw that he was whispering at him to fly closer. Axel looked at the villains they were fighting. Well, villain now because the other Extremat was on the floor and struggling to get on his feet, as some key stuff in the suit might have been damaged by the fall.

Axel decided to answer the call. At least now, the other superheroes were fully taking care of the fight.

Royal Cloak was very tense now.

"Great display of leadership you're doing, man," Royal Cloak said. "But enough of the punching and spearing and all. Apparently, you won't go anywhere if you continue to do like that."

Axel furrowed his non-evident eyebrow, now covered in flames.

"How?" he asked.

Royal Cloak signaled for the two flying guards standing in the air beside him to give Axel something.

They did so, and now, in Axel's hands were two electric chips.

Axel stared at them, bewildered, not knowing what to do with them.

Royal Cloak explained:

Th𝗲 most uptodate novels are published on ƒгeewёbnovel.com.

"During the fight, I was slowly and silently studying the Extremats' powers. I scanned through my vision and saw that their weakness is actually their tech. Their tech might be their power, but it's also their weakness."

Axel was bemused. "How?"

Royal Cloak smiled.

"That's why the electric chips come in," he said. "We need to make their tech ineffective, and doing so will make them vulnerable, making it easy for us to send them back through the portal, and then Portalwalker can shut it."

"So what do I do?" Axel asked.

Royal Cloak said, "Well, the electric chip is magnetic and clings to tech. So all you have to do is throw it in their direction, and that would render their tech useless, and boom, we're free!"

Axel didn't hesitate now. He dashed at the Extremats, wanting to end this all.

His golden armor burned more, and with a motion of good turpitude, he slashed his sword briskly at both of the Extremats, and that chopped off their right and left arms, respectively.

Then, with preternatural speed, he threw the electric chips at the Extremats, who didn't see it coming.

They clung to the robotic suits and...

TING!

They crumbled down.

The first Extremat looked at Axel intently in the eyes now, its gaze still vicious.

"You deserve to win. You were the best today, but not tomorrow."

The portal, which everyone had forgotten was there, sparked more loudly and vociferously now. Axel raised the Inferno Sword up in the sky and hit it hard onto the ground.

BLAST!

The Extremats reeled into the portal.

Portalwalker clapped his hands hard and loud, and that closed the portal.

Everyone in the hall sighed now, including Axel and even Royal Cloak, who said to the guards standing beside him:

"Open all entrances now!"
