I Reawakened as an Inferno Hero-Chapter 54: I wasn’t expecting that

Axel sidestepped just in time to dodge the gloves, and looking forward, he saw that it was from Dan.

He was surprised, and that wasn’t even close. Everyone in the realm plunger was actually.

Dan stared at him, fuming with intense energy.

Axel’s father clenched his fists, stepping forward, ready to deliver a punch to Dan.

Dan kept fuming with energy, but soon he stopped and looked at the others who were also clenching their fists and ready to fight.

He knew he wasn’t any match for them all. Even without Axel and his father, he knew he couldn’t beat the other superheroes, being too strong for him was well, sugar coating.

Dan sighed now and got on his knees, looking downwards.

Everyone was still cautious, their fists clenched and the expression on their faces ’battle ready like’.

"What’s your problem man," Voidbreaker asked, now sweating.

Dan said nothing. And then, rolling his eyes, he muttered:

"Damn!"

Looking at the ceiling, he shouted:

"Get me out of here!"

[Why] the realm plunger artificial intelligence asked.

"Just do what I say," he bawled. "Let me out, I quit!"

[Seems like you want to forfeit from the mission, which I’m sure Royal Cloak won’t allow]

"But why?" Spinal Edge asked Dan. "I’m confused, why are you out of the mission."

Dan simply smirked, tilting his head to the right, on his face deceit.

Axel, studying the face, was shocked by what it emitted.

Deceit?

He had never for once expected that. Dan that he knew was a good guy. Well, he couldn’t really prove that as it was just over a week that they met, so he really didn’t know who he was.

But when they had discussed while stuck while stuck in the middle of the portal, he had sounded like a good guy. He even an emotional thought to him.

Axel even remembered his story. It was about him losing his wife and daughter to a villain and him going on to kill the villain.

He seemed like a fatherly back then and Axel had really looked up to him. But now, him wearing a face of deceit and acting all weird, this was a...

TWIST!

It seemed like one of those thrillers he usually read back at Earth where one wouldn’t except a certain character to be bad and boom!

TWIST!

The character would. They usually had a reason for being bad though. A back story. Why they did what they did and..., the rest. Now, Dan, what is his motive of doing this.

The real question was - WHY?

Dan was shouting at the ceiling now.

"Get me out of here, this instant!"

The realm plunger artificial intelligence wouldn’t budge. It now played dumb, like he wasn’t hearing what Dan was saying, and that greatly peeved him.

He stomped his feet hard on the ground now, very hard that it seemed like it would break open the realm plunger’s floor.

"What do we do?" Chrysa asked Axel.

Axel was taken aback with the question. Why was he being asked. Was he suddenly the leader? Well, he had an answer though.

"We don’t know who he is anymore, so letting him go could be a very big mistake as you don’t know who he’s working for now. Right now, we don’t really know, so I’ll say—"

A vortex-like sound disrupted him.

A pulsing blast of energy. Plunging through a portal with so much force it seemed like it would rip time itself apart. It was enormous, so large it was touching the ceiling already.

Axel couldn’t move, he stood rooted to the spot, surprised with what was happening.

The other superheroes didn’t move a limb either. They were just bewildered. They hadn’t expected what was happening, and seeing it now, it didn’t seem like reality they knew.

It was then it hit Axel.

’Damn!’ he thought.

He had forgotten that Dan could summon portals.

It hit him again.

’Damn!’

That was what he used to rescue him.

Dan looked at him, in his eyes viciousness. Suddenly, Dan didn’t look like a superhero anymore. He was now a villain, and that shocked Axel. It was then he saw the cruelty in his eyes. It seemed to plunge into brain and shook it a bit.

And then, in menacing voice, Dan said just before he put the last leg that would put him in the portal:

"I will find you and then, I will kill you, mark my words"

The words sounded grim, really grim actually. Like something a villain would tell the hero in one of his movies he usually watched. To him now, Dan was a totally different person; his demeanor was suddenly shocking.

Dan stepped into the portal, and then it shimmered violently, the edges acting like it would suddenly explode, similar to a volcano wanting to erupt.

And then there was a large blast, and suddenly the place was calm again, the portal lgone. Axel and his dad exchanged puzzled looks, and so did others. If one had told him earlier that Dan could act like this, he wouldn’t have believed it.

Now it was shocking because he had saw him as a different person, someone he relied on, perhaps he was starting to think of him as some sort of role model, and now he just couldn’t put it to thoughts.

They looked around the place, everyone. It seemed that Dan summoning the portal had caused some sort of damage, the fridge doors were open, some part of the walls scraped and the lights that lighted the place flickering.

Axel sighed and knelt down, picking the glove that Dan had earlier threw at him.

He examined the glove for quite long, not wanting to speak to the others. Not like he didn’t want to, but the situation made them silent. Not only him but everyone in general.

And then, examining the glove for about three seconds, he saw, much to his disbelief, a symbol. He squinted his eyes looking at it, and then it struck him yet again...

This symbol looked familiar, he bet he had seen it somewhere.
