I was Kidnapped for Revenge by a Ruthless Alpha-Chapter 150: You can’t be serious
~AMBROSE’S POV~
Pissed and insulter didn’t even begin to cover what I was feeling.
I couldn’t believe what was being asked of me.
Invite the vampires for a meeting and to the Gala. The last time the vampires attended a gala, they murdered his parents and obliterated and entire pack.
And here Odette and her fox guardian in human skin for informing him he was expected to host his parents’ killers.
The sheer audacity of these women.
"That’s not happening." I stood firm on my stance, unwilling to bend.
"You don’t have a choice, it will either happen on your terms or fate will pull strings to force your hand, or you doom the world and you goddess for your petty mortal squabbles." She nipped at me. Her words were a clear jab.
"Don’t speak to me like that, I won’t tolerate you being condescending to me." I growled at her releasing some of my alpha aura. I know my eyes flashed gold, I could feel Onyx pushing to the surface, he was just as insulted by their request as me.
"Watch your tone with me, child, you forget I am not some week mortal, but an immortal. I’m not so easy to kill or wound. Remember that boy the next time you wish to threaten a spirit." She growled, her eyes glowing red. Her power radiating from her.
It was almost like we were both in a pissing match over who held the most power in the room when Odette cleared her throat and yelled "Enough you too, I get it you both have big balls."
She stopped and looked me dead in the eyes.
"Mom is literally possessed by a freaking demon god with the intent of destroying the world. I think that takes precedent over your grudge." She softened her face, "I’m not telling you to let go of your grudge, but what good is a grudge if we all die..."
She raised a valid point.
How would I even begin to explain this to the council. Let alone the packs.
Did they really understand what they were asking of my people? Of me?
"Yes, I do understand. Also realize you and your people kidnapped their queen and their princess... It was an unprovoked feud between our species; it was because your people broke the treaty first." Odette must have read my mind when she answered with that.
"Fine. But you better cheer me up after I argue with a bunch of old geezers and cranky grannies." I mentioned.
I could feel her excitement when I agreed. "Why are you so excited."
She gave me an ’are you serious right now?’ kind of look.
"Because, Ambrose, I’ll get to see my family. It’s been months since you stole me away." She never hesitated to remind me of my sins.
Yeah, and you deserve it every time. I warned you. You ignored me. Onyx mocked in my mind.
Shut up you old dog.
Call me a dog again.
I rolled my eyes internally at my wolf.
"How should the meeting go?" I looked at Phera and asked.
"Just as it was before you and the MoonChild will have an audience with the King of Vampires. You will come to create an allyship with them. We need them if we are to defeat Ezelreth and his army." Her voice got more serious when she added "The Turned are no joke and hard to beat."
The Turned?
I heard Onyx growl at the mention of them.
"What are those?" the name sounded familiar but I couldn’t place from where.
Phera narrowed her eyes "They’re ghastly beasts. With grey sunken skin, red eyes and long fangs sharp enough to pierce steel. They move with incredible speed. And worst of all they feel nothing, they are mindless eating machines that obey only their creator."
"Well, that sounds horrifying." Odette said, and memory came into mind, and I was witnessing it with her.
He witnessed her previous life’s flashback. She was standing on a bridge, facing Ezelreth in his original form. An army of monsters rushing from behind him. They moved like a disease across the land, snarling and dripping blood from their fangs. Dark red stained their mouths and necks. Their screams grew louder as they advanced.
But in this flashback, this version of Odette didn’t feel fear.
She felt fury. Uncheck rage boiling in her blood.
He remembered this scene from her dream Artemasia shared with us. When she lost her chosen mate. Seeing the monsters. The Turned.
Odette shook her head gathering her composure.
"These flashbacks of a life I didn’t live are giving me one hell of a migraine." I could feel the throbbing in her head, she wasn’t kidding.
"You will get more and more of them as you become more connected to your soul, the part of you that comes from the goddess, and once you become one with your soul, I have a feeling you might be able to see your goddess mother." Phera added.
"Are you for real?" Odette asked, excitement widened her eyes.
"Yes, MoonChild. I think she will." Phera sounded confident that Artemis would pay her a visit.
She looked more determined to train. I could see it in her eyes. The hunger.
"We need to go to bed. It’s way too late; I’m exhausted." I told them both.
"You are not wrong first wolf." She seemed to acknowledge me with more respect now.
"I’ll meet with the council tomorrow and discuss the need for a truce. I don’t know how I’m going to explain to them all of this without divulging the truth of your identity, Odette." I groaned at the idea of the endless circles he will talk in with these, politician type people.
"I will accompany you. An ancient mountain guardian spirit should be enough to convince them the gravity of the situation." That could actually work. Her raw ancient power could be felt strongly if she let it.
She could help me force their compliance.
"That’s not a bad suggestion to be honest. I think I’ll take you up on that offer."
