I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]-Chapter 105: Messing Up With His Mind
Chapter 105: Messing Up With His Mind
"Either way, you’re still more suspicious!"
He said that. He said that, and hung up, turning off his phone so as not to be bothered by any more calls or messages.
But, although he had said that, the truth was that Felix still couldn’t help but feel more uneasy. He still didn’t know why Remi even clung to him in the first place, persistently breaking into his house when they first met. Offering his services as the witch for free and helping Felix with his groceries and so on came only more recently, so it could be said that he had grown fond of the Omega by now... But what was his initial purpose? The witch wouldn’t tell him anything, and neither did Brielle. Felix got so used to it and comfortable with the fox’s presence that he normally didn’t think about it, but...
Now that Kade had brought it up, Felix couldn’t get it out of his mind. He didn’t know that much about the witch, aside from the few stories that Brielle had shared with him... Thus, he couldn’t say with full confidence that the witch wouldn’t do something like that to him. He WANTED to believe it, but he lacked certainty...
Besides, even if the witch had staged the reveal for some reason, that still didn’t mean that Kade had nothing to do with it. The witch most certainly wouldn’t have asked Brian to follow Felix - he didn’t benefit from that in any way, and he had already proved himself dependable, by saving the Omega from far bigger peril... And if Kade was truly innocent in all of this, then why did Brian follow Felix back then? It was all so confusing...
All of a sudden, something jumped onto Felix’s lap, leaning against his chest.
Remi.
The fox sat on his lap, resting his head on Felix’s chest, and looking up at the Omega with his piercing blue eyes. Lost in his thoughts, Felix didn’t even realize when he approached him.
...Did he hear everything? Most likely. Although Felix didn’t have Kade on the speaker, foxes also had great hearing. Since Remi hung around the house, and probably sneaked closer to Felix as he talked on the phone, he must have overheard everything Kade had said.
That would explain the hurt, pouting look in his eyes, that seemed to say, ’Are you really suspecting me?’
Honestly, Felix kind of did.
But at the same time, he didn’t.
It was all messing up with his head, until he no longer had any idea what to believe in.
Still, while some suspicions were still there, lodged uncomfortably in his chest, Felix let out a sigh, and lifted his hand to rub Remi’s soft, furry head. He truly wanted to trust the fox...
And could he even afford not to? Despite all of his secrets, Remi was still the most dependable person in Felix’s life right now, all things considered. He was by his side, and provided him comfort when he needed it... Gave him a sense of safety, and brought him food and potions. Offered extra help when needed, like with that recent interrogation...
Well. If he was uninvolved with it, that is.
Either way, losing Remi, or even simply not trusting the fox, was something Felix simply wouldn’t be able to take now. With his daughter to care about and all...
Plus he simply got attached to the fox. He had always been skeptical of Kade, so he could take a betrayal from him, but when it came to Remi...
"Let’s go to bed," he sighed, getting up from the couch with the fox in his arms. It wasn’t a problem that could be solved by just thinking about it, as Felix simply lacked the pieces that would allow him to put everything together... Thus, the best he could do was to go on with his life to the best of his ability.

Kade sent him a video the next day. Of Lucas, that blond Beta guard. Tied up to a chair in a cold, empty cell, one side of his face swollen. He had probably been beaten up heavily beforehand, and one of the hits landed on his face.
"Did you pay a Beta from Silverfall to follow my mate?" Kade’s cold voice asked.
’My mate.’ Felix couldn’t help but lift his brows, while his chest involuntarily contracted. Why was Kade still using that term? When interrogating the guard on camera, at that!
But then again, it was better than using his name, so Felix just let it go.
"Y-young Master, I..." Lucas muttered.
"Answer me!"
"Ye-yes..."
"Why did you do it?"
"I just..."
"Speak clearly!"
"I just did it for your sake, Young Master," Lucas answered, his head hanging low. "So that you could impress your mate... We didn’t do well that first time he was attacked, so I wanted to make up for it..."
"Did anyone order you to do it?"
"No."
"Was anyone else involved?"
"No, I acted on my own."
"Then tell me exactly what you had asked that Beta to do," Kade growled, barely holding up his emotions. If it wasn’t for the camera, and the fact that this recording was meant for Felix, he probably would have started beating the guard again by now.
If his emotions were genuine, that is. Because Felix couldn’t tell for sure.
"Not much, not much at all! I just asked him to follow Young Master’s mate! And then leave once Young Master appeared," Lucas explained. "After that, he was meant to stay hidden, and make sure that he wouldn’t be discovered... Or else we would kill him."
"We?" ƒrēenovelkiss.com
"That’s what I’ve told him, to sound more threatening."
Kade let out a cold laugh. "I see. Then, have you told him you’re from the Bloodmoon Pack?"
"I... I don’t remember. But I wore my tie with the emblem, so he should have been able to realize it."
"Is there anything else you have to say?"
"I’m sorry, Young Master..."
"You’re sorry?" Kade growled. "Do you think that-"
Then, the video suddenly cut. Probably because Kade had deemed the rest unsuitable for Felix’s eyes.
Felix lay in silence for a long while, before tossing his phone to the side and closing his eyes.
The recording didn’t prove Kade’s innocence. He could very well have just ordered the guard to say it all, and the poor guard would have no choice but to oblige. It could all be staged...
But the guard’s words seemed to match with what Felix had heard from Brian. Which would suggest that it truly was the Bloodmoon Pack who had paid him to do it, and the witch had nothing to do with the scheme...
Well, even if Kade was still lying to him, Felix was at least glad for being able to confirm that.
