I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]-Chapter 155: A Photo?
Chapter 155: A Photo?
For a moment, Felix paused, surprised.
However, soon enough, he blinked, and shook his head lightly. There was nothing particularly surprising about it, now that he gave it a thought. Since the person from the anonymous tip knew his location, there was no reason why they couldn’t have a photo of him. It wasn’t all that difficult to secretly snap a photo of someone out in town and not be caught in the act... People used their phones and took photos all the time. As long as the person acted natural, they wouldn’t arouse suspicions and attract attention...
So, Felix just asked to clarify, "What kind of photo?"
"Of you," Jared responded.
Felix almost clicked his tongue at this stupid answer. "But how did you know it was taken in Silverfall?"
"We didn’t. But your hair was different. A bit longer. You never had hair like that back at the pack..."
Felix unconsciously pulled on his golden brown hair. That... Indeed made sense. Back at the Moonhill Pack, after his mother’s death, he always had his hair cut by one of the grannies. There were a few times when he was younger when his haircut was a bit off... Which was most likely done on Ashley’s request, but when Felix remained unmoved by it, it eventually stopped, and the old Omega cut his hair properly since then. Either way, his hair, even if sometimes looking odd, where never particularly long...
Until now. Ever since he came to Silverfall, Felix had to take care of his hair on his own, because he didn’t want to waste money on a hairdresser. Back when he had still worked at the Crossroads, he tried to keep his hair under control, but... Over the past few months, ever since Vivi was born, he had completely forgotten about it. It wasn’t so much that he had purposely grown it, but rather, it didn’t bother him, so getting a haircut had slipped his mind. And, as a result, his hair had gotten somewhat lengthy now.
It was just a more recent change. Not the most significant, but something that could still easily distinguish the current him from the person he had been in the past...
Of course, since the photo didn’t indicate the location, it wasn’t enough to actually confirm that Felix was in Silverfall. However, since the person from the anonymous tip clearly had encountered Felix - or they had information from someone else who had - then there was a higher chance that the tip they had provided was legit. It was at least worth checking. While Felix still thought that it was foolish of Jared to act so rashly...
Perhaps he was selling himself short. Jared might have been the current leader of the pack, but Felix was the son of the former leader, and the most important Elder, Wilder Embermane. Their relationship was by no means close, but he was still Wilder’s own flesh and blood, the only offspring that the Alpha had... He might not be happy if he found out that his only son had gone missing. And Jared wouldn’t want to anger his mentor... So, it could be somewhat understandable that he might act on any lead he had, even if it was a bit rash.
Not to mention, Felix was his fated mate. Felix didn’t initially take it into consideration, as he wanted to erase the notion from his brain... But the longer he thought about it, the more he felt that Jared coming here in person, despite his status, just on an anonymous tip... Wasn’t so weird. Although Felix was a willful mate that opposed Jared, he was still his FATED MATE. There was still a bond between them, and unless it was broken first, Jared wouldn’t be able to bond with anyone else...
Unless he was as (un)lucky as Felix, and Moon Goddess granted him the fated bond with more than just one mate at the time.
Either way, when he thought about it like that, Jared must have been desperate to find him. So much so, that he was willing to check even a suspicious tip...
Naturally, Felix didn’t feel bad about it. He just glanced down at Jared with his golden eyes freezing cold.
"So you got the photo, and you came to Silverfall," he said, speaking slowly. "And what about my address?"
"It wasn’t mentioned. But, once I arrived, I sensed the bond..."
That made sense. With the bond, Jared would be able to find him easily once he was in town. And since his address wasn’t mentioned, it could very well be that a werewolf noticed him in town, and happened to recognize him, maybe because they had some connection to the Moonhill Pack in the past... A weird coincidence, but not impossible. It still didn’t explain why the tip was anonymous... But perhaps the person who provided it wanted to make sure that everything went well first, and hoped to claim credit once Felix was caught? After all, if he escaped before the Moonhill Pack arrived, the person who provided the information might get in trouble instead. If Felix thought about it like that, it all added up. It added up, but...
Something was still bugging him. For some reason, he couldn’t help but feel that something wasn’t right.
But no matter how hard he thought about it, he couldn’t pinpoint where the feeling came from.
In the bedroom, Felix’s phone rang again.
And at the same time, the phone in Jared’s pocket also started to ring.
Felix clicked his tongue, annoyed. How was he supposed to focus with all this ringing?
He couldn’t just ignore it any longer. Not just because of the noise... His phone rang a few times in a row now, which meant that it was probably Kade, and that it was important. It could be that he had discovered that Jared came to Silverfall - after the conversation they had a few days ago, Felix was certain that the Bloodmoon Pack had spies in the Moonhill Pack - in which case, he could wait a bit. Of course, it could also be something else entirely, but...
Felix turned his eyes to Jared. He stepped forward, wanting to take a phone from him... Just as he was about to reach into his pocket, though, Remi stretched out his arm, stopping him.
"Let me," he smiled, and pulled the phone out of the pocket of Jared’s jacket himself. Pinching it with two fingers, and twisting his face with disgust, as if what he was taking out was not a phone, but a rotten rat that had been fermenting in the sewage for weeks.
Well, that was understandable. Since the phone was Jared’s personal item, it had his scent and fingerprints all over it. Felix also felt that it was disgusting.
Remi wiped the phone carefully with a jasmine-scented handkerchief he had pulled out of nowhere, before handing it to Felix. "There. It should be fine to use now... I’ll just help you disinfect your hands once you’re done."
That was an obvious insult to Jared. Under any normal circumstances, the Alpha wouldn’t take it...
But the current circumstances were most certainly not normal. Jared was tied up and weak. Not to mention, his tongue was untying itself on its own, spilling out anything Felix wanted to know. Even if he didn’t realize what exactly was going on, and that the man next to Felix was a powerful witch, he at least knew that at that moment, he was at Felix’s mercy. So, although his pride was hurt, he had no choice but to swallow it... In hopes that he can pay back for this insult in the future.
Jared was not stupid, after all. He was a leader of a medium-sized pack. He knew that sometimes, he had to keep his emotions under control...
By the time the phone was in Felix’s hands, it had already stopped ringing. But Felix could still see the notification.
Three missed calls from Nathan.
His eyes immediately darkened.
Nathan was Jared’s right-hand man, and perhaps the third person he hated the most among the members of the Moonhill Pack, right after his father and Jared. Or perhaps fourth, after Ashley. Felix never gave it enough thought to rank them up properly. Either way, he was another person Felix didn’t want to see ever again...
But that was not the point now. Nathan had already tried calling three times, and Jared didn’t pick up. Although there was a long way from the Moonhill Pack to Silverfall, so that they couldn’t send reinforcements to check up on Jared immediately... The longer he dragged it on, the more problematic it would become.
It was best to solve the problem as soon as possible, before anyone got suspicious.
"What’s the password?"
"It’s..." Jared bit on his lip, trying to stop himself from talking. But his struggles were all in vain, as he was still under the spell. Unwillingly, he soon muttered, "82038..."
Felix quickly tapped it, unlocking the screen. He paused for a moment with his finger above the ’call back’ button, and threw Jared a sharp glare. "Tell him that everything’s alright, but you haven’t found me here."
"...What?" Jared scowled, clearly unwilling.
But Felix had already exchanged glances with Remi, and Remi nodded with a meaningful smile. freewёbnoνel.com
Even if Jared didn’t want to say anything himself, they had a way to force him.
Felix took a deep breath, and pressed the call.
