Chapter 180: Unfamiliar Place

Felix was woken up by the sound of knocking on the door. However, he only furrowed his brows, and rolled to the side. Because he didn’t sleep well last night, he was still tired, and wanted to get some more sleep, whoever was at the door could wait. It’s not like Felix ever got any important visitors that might stop unannounced, especially in recent days...

But as he buried himself in the sheets, he noticed two things.

First, there was no soft, furry, warm creature in his bed. The fox, who had always cuddled up to him at night, was gone.

Second, there wasn’t even a hint of jasmine fragrance anywhere. Nor was there the scent of Felix’s fabric softener, or any of the scents that were in his house. Everything aside from Felix himself smelled different.

His eyes abruptly snapped open, and he sat up.

That’s right, he was no longer in Silverfall. He had come to the Bloodmoon Pack with Kade, and he had spent the last night in the room arranged for him in the main residential building of the pack house. Of course there was no fox in his bed.

The sound of knocking came again. Felix glanced at the door...

But no, it didn’t seem right. The door to the hallway was on his right, but the knocking came from...

Felix looked left, but the balcony was empty. Well, of course it was, the sound of knocking clearly indicated it was on the wooden door, while the balcony door was made out of glass.

Then there were the doors for his private bathroom and the closet right in front of him, but that wasn’t it either. The bathroom door was left ajar. The walk-in closet was closed, but why would there be anyone there? And if anyone broke in, then why would they knock? ƒreewebɳovel.com

Knock, knock.

Behind him!

Although his mind was still heavy and clouded with sleepiness, now that he was up and paying attention, he immediately picked up the source of the sound. It was on his left, not really behind him, but just on the same wall as the bed, so he had to turn his head back to see it.

There was another, fourth (or fifth, if counting the balcony) door there.

Felix stared at it blankly, confused. He didn’t notice it last night. Not that it was all that hidden, it was just that Felix hadn’t really looked around, he just got changed and went to bed. He knew about the closet and the bathroom, because Kade pointed them out before he left - after all, Felix needed to know where he could refresh himself, or where to find a change of clothes - but as for the rest of the room, he just ignored it, leaving familiarizing himself with his new environment for the morning. It’s not like he was in a rush. He would probably be staying here for a while, he’d have more than enough time to get bored with the place...

Regardless, what was that door for? And why was someone knocking on them? The hallway wasn’t that way...

There was only one thing that came to mind.

Felix let out a sigh, and dragged himself off the massive bed, slipping his feet into soft sleepers waiting at the bedside. Exactly his size - despite the short notice, Kade (or his subordinates, to be precise) prepared the room well! He walked over to the mysterious door...

And sure enough, once he opened it, he saw Kade. Dressed in dark pants and a jumper, more casual than usual, but still elegant. And as Felix peeked at what was behind him, he saw another bedroom, about the same size as his, except that looking less empty - clearly, it was a space someone had occupied at least for a while.

The conclusion was obvious - it was Kade’s room. And Felix’s and Kade’s rooms were connected, so that they could enter each other’s rooms without having to pass through the hallway.

...Felix didn’t even know what to say. At this point, he was no longer surprised... But still.

"You’re up now?" Kade smiled.

"No," was Felix’s response. He knew he probably should have been nicer to Kade, considering the circumstances, but at the moment, he was too groggy to care.

Luckily, Kade didn’t mind either. He just smiled at him apologetically. "I wouldn’t mind letting you sleep longer... But we need to meet my parents soon."

That was enough to finally shake the remaining sleepiness off of Felix.

That’s right, he had entered a pack, after all. A pack that he was not a member of, not even related. While his status was a bit special, because he had been brought in by the heir, so he was different from any other guests... It was still important for him to properly greet and discuss his stay with the leader. In a way, it was even more important in his case, since he wasn’t just a ’guest’, but he was staying in the main mansion, practically sharing a room with the heir! Even if Einar Blackstone understood the situation, some things couldn’t be skipped.

"There’s no need to be nervous," Kade reassured, seeing Felix’s face turn pale. "My parents will love you!"

...Will they, though? If he were in their place, he would chase himself away! A random rogue Omega who had run away from his pack, with a child of unknown origins, who had first rejected their son, and then still had the guts to ask him to take him in... No matter how Felix thought about it, that would be any (caring) parent’s nightmare! And even if Kade’s bond with his parents wasn’t close (which it probably was, considering how much he cared about his father), then even thinking from his position as the pack leader, Einar Blackstone surely wouldn’t want his heir to waste time on such an unsuitable not-even-mate!

"Give me a moment," he said, feeling weak in his knees. Previously, he had been so concerned with his reasons as to why he shouldn’t come to the Bloodmoon Pack, that he failed to consider that despite what Kade had said, the Bloodmoon Pack might not want him here either, and not just the young Omegas, but even the Luna and the leader... If he didn’t do well on the meeting with Kade’s parents, would he be thrown away? "I need to refresh myself first..."
