I'll Raise My Future Omega Son-in-law-Chapter 127: A CLEAN BREAK
WONYOUNG didn’t want to cry.
He really didn’t want to.
But he couldn’t help it.
"Wonyoung-ah, don’t cry. I’m not yet done explaining," Yun Dujun said in a panic while wiping Wonyoung’s tears once again. "I accept your request for divorce, not because I don’t love you, but because I want a fresh start."
Oh.
That was kinda convincing, so...
"Carry on," Wonyoung said in a cracked voice while glaring at Yun Dujun. "You better not lie again."
"I will never lie to you again," Yun Dujun promised. "Wonyoung-ah, we didn’t even have a wedding ceremony because we only got married for the sake of the prophecy. So, I want to do it properly this time. I know that I can’t convince you that I love you through my words alone. That’s why I decided to show it to you."
"By divorcing me?"
"By ending the loveless marriage that we started," Yun Dujun said carefully. "Actually, there was another reason why I wanted you to stay married to me at first, Wonyoung-ah."
"There’s something else? Are you trying to kill me, Hyung?"
"I’m sorry."
"What is it?" Wonyoung asked, his voice cracking once again. "What else did you use me and our marriage for?"
"My father and Uncle Hyunjin like you, Wonyoung-ah," Yun Dujun said, and it sounded like the Alpha was embarrassed. In fact, he couldn’t look at Wonyoung. There was also a faint pinkish blush on his cheeks. "That’s why I thought they would also start accepting me more if we stayed married. I’m really sorry about that, Wonyoung-ah."
Aigoo.
Wonyoung was supposed to be annoyed, but he actually felt bad for Yun Dujun.
Hyung really craves his family’s love and acceptance.
"I know, it’s funny that I still want their acknowledgement at my big age," Yun Dujun said, still couldn’t look at Wonyoung out of embarrassment. "But I couldn’t help it then."
"Hyung, I don’t find it funny. I actually find you a little pitiful. I’m sorry."
"Don’t be," Yun Dujun said, and then he finally looked at her again. "Pity is also a form of love, after all."
"You sound desperate for any semblance of love from me, Hyung."
"I am."
Okay, that may or may have made Wonyoung’s heart skip a beat.
But, thankfully, it didn’t show.
He managed to keep a straight face, not showing an ounce of emotion.
"Alright, I get it," Wonyoung said calmly. But he was only calm outside, of course. "I understand. But just because I understand doesn’t mean I can forgive everything easily."
"Yes, you need space, and you need to get away from me. I understand that part," Yun Dujun said while nodding. "So, even if it’s not easy for me to divorce you, I’ll respect your wish this time. But that doesn’t mean I’m letting you go. I love you, Wonyoung-ah. That’s why I want our relationship to work this time."
Wonyoung calmed down after hearing Yun Dujun’s explanation.
After all, that was what he thought, too.
That we should end the marriage that didn’t start well.
And then start anew.
However...
"I haven’t forgiven you completely, Hyung. And it will be hard for me to trust you again. Even though you’re telling me that you love me, I still can’t believe it. Not totally, at least," Wonyoung said, his voice calmer this time. "If you want me back, you’d better work for it hard."
Yun Dujun nodded, his eyes looking fierce and determined. "I will win you back, Wonyoung-ah."
"Then, is it safe to assume that you’re not going to bring me to court for the kids’ custody? You used to threaten me about the kids’ custody, remember?"
The Alpha blushed as if he were embarrassed.
Yes, you should be embarrassed by how petty you were at the time.
"I won’t do that again, Wonyoung-ah," Yun Dujun assured him. "I won’t interfere in An Baekya’s life, and I’ll let you see Yuhyun whenever you want. Of course, that also means you can visit anytime."
That was a relief, then.
Now, onto the next problem...
"I already told An Baekya that I’m divorcing you," Wonyoung informed the Alpha. "It won’t be fair if we don’t tell Yun Yuhyun about our divorce. Do you think our baby is old enough to understand what divorce means?"
"Yun Yuhyun watched my movie where my role is that of a divorced man seeking revenge against his ex-wife and her family, who put him in jail. So, I believe our son knows what a divorce means."
"You should seriously stop letting our son watch your movies that aren’t appropriate for his age, Hyung."
"Yes, I will be stricter from now on."
"We should tell Yuhyun the truth now," Wonyoung said. "He’ll be upset if we keep him in the dark for long."
"Wonyoung-ah, what if Yuhyun chooses to come with you?"
"But Yuhyun likes you more than he likes me."
"I don’t think that’s still the case," the Alpha said while shaking his head. "Our son likes you more than you think, Wonyoung-ah."
"Let’s worry about that later," Wonyoung said, avoiding the topic because he wasn’t confident that Yun Yuhyun would like him more than he liked Yun Dujun. "For now, let’s tell Yuhyun about our divorce." He checked his watch and realized that it was already past midnight. "But let’s do it tomorrow— it will be too cruel for our son if we wake him up in the middle of the night just to tell him we’re divorcing."
Yun Dujun nodded, and then he paused for a moment. "Wonyoung-ah, can I tell Yun Yuhyun about our divorce on my own instead of the two of us telling him about the bad news?"
***
WONYOUNG eyes were already closed.
Actually, he could barely open them since he kept crying all night.
But even though his eyes were tired, his mind wouldn’t shut up.
It hurt that he had to divorce Yun Dujun, but after his long talk with the Alpha, his heart became at ease. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Divorce was the right thing to do since their marriage started for the wrong reasons.
And Dujun Hyung promised to win me over.
It would be impossible for Wonyoung to erase all his feelings for Yun Dujun overnight.
But that didn’t mean he had already forgiven the Alpha. Plus, like he said earlier, it would be hard to trust his husband again.
And it won’t be easy to love someone you keep doubting.
Hence, Wonyoung needed to be apart from Yun Dujun in the meantime.
I need to heal on my own.
The thing that he was most worried about was Yun Yuhyun’s would-be reaction.
I hope my son doesn’t hate me for divorcing his daddy.
***
"DADDY AND PAPA are divorcing?"
Yun Dujun felt a pang in his chest when he saw his son crying after receiving the bad news about his divorce.
It didn’t help that he shared the news after their breakfast.
Bae Wonyoung didn’t join them because the Omega was still asleep in his room.
And Yun Dujun just let his husband sleep more.
He cried a lot last night, after all.
Anyway, Yun Dujun brought Yun Yuhyun to his room and told his son about the divorce.
The child listened carefully, and then broke down after.
"Divorce means Papa won’t be your husband anymore, Daddy," Yun Yuhyun asked in a cracked voice. "Does it mean Papa won’t be my papa anymore?"
"No, that’s not the case, Yuhyun-ah," Yun Dujun said while shaking his head. "Your papa will still be your papa."
"But why are you and Papa divorcing, Daddy? Do you not love Papa?"
"I love your papa," Yun Dujun said softly. "But I hurt your papa badly, Yuhyun-ah. I can’t tell you what exactly happened, but everything is my fault."
He thought Yun Yuhyun wouldn’t understand how he used Bae Wonyoung to improve his acting, so he kept it vague.
"Did you hurt Papa?"
"Yes, I hurt your papa’s heart," Yun Dujun admitted. "Dad is very sorry about hurting your papa."
"You should apologize to Papa, Daddy."
"I did— I already did. But I hurt your papa so badly that he needs time away from me," Yun Dujun said, adding a very sad piece of news next: "Away from us."
Yun Yuhyun, who was a quick-witted child, cried louder when he understood what Yun Dujun meant by what he said. "Is Papa going to leave us, Daddy?"
"Your papa will live in a different house, but you’ll still see him often— whenever you want. He’s not going to abandon you, Yuhyun-ah."
"Is Papa going to live with An Baekya?"
"Yes, but that doesn’t mean your papa is choosing An Baekya over you," Yun Dujun said, clearing up the misunderstanding early. "Your papa loves both of you."
If he were the old Yun Dujun, he would have insisted that Bae Wonyoung should love Yun Yuhyun more than An Baekya.
But he already had a change of heart.
Yes, he was still uncomfortable with An Baekya.
But I’ll do my best to be fair to An Baekya from now on.
"Daddy, I want to see Papa," Yun Yuhyun said while wiping his tears. "I’m going to say sorry to Papa because my daddy hurt him."
Ah.
Hearing that from his own son hurt more than Yun Dujun thought it would.
I suppose I owe Yuhyun an apology, too. Once he’s older, I’ll explain to him how I also used him for my method acting.
For now, Yun Dujun would love Yun Yuhyun more and more.
***
WHEN Wonyoung opened his eyes, he was surprised to see Yun Yuhyun.
But the surprise was instantly replaced by worry when he saw his son crying.
"Yuhyun-ah, what’s wrong?" Wonyoung asked worriedly, getting up immediately. Then he gathered Yun Yuhyun in his arms, rubbing his son’s back in an attempt to soothe him. "Are you in pain? Are you hurt?"
"Papa, I’m sorry," Yun Yuhyun said between sobs, wrapping his arms around Wonyoung’s neck. "I’m sorry my daddy hurt you. Please don’t hate us— please don’t hate me."
Aigoo.
Wonyoung ended up crying again. "I don’t hate you, baby," he whispered between sobs, hugging his son tight. "There’s no way I’d hate you, Yuhyun-ah."
Not anymore— and never again.
