I'm Trapped Inside a Prince as the Most Powerful Entity-Chapter 113: Glimmer of Hope
Chapter 113: Glimmer of Hope
The moment Professor White finished speaking finished telling them how the results would be announced a vibrant green fire erupted from his outstretched hands.
He was still floating in the air above them. The flames surged upwards into the sky.
They spread across the sky above the vast field like a green canopy like a ceiling of fire.
Then just as quickly as it had appeared the green fire transformed.
Countless small white birds crafted from pure shimmering light emerged from the flames.
They began to descend gracefully.
They floated down from the sky towards the anxious students who were waiting below.
It was a beautiful and magical sight.
A wave of intense anticipation a feeling of nervous excitement swept through the crowd of young hopefuls.
Every single student watched the descending flock of magical birds with bated breath.
Their hearts were pounding in their chests.
Each one was silently praying praying that their number would be called. They prayed that a bird would choose them that they would be accepted into the Academy.
One by one the white birds began to select their recipients their chosen students.
Some of the magical birds landed gently on the heads of the successful applicants.
Others alighted on an outstretched hand or a proffered shoulder.
Cheers of pure joy and loud sighs of immense relief began to erupt from scattered points in the crowd. Students were shouting and hugging each other as they received their mark of acceptance their white bird.
A single white bird flew directly towards Princess Monica.
She was standing calmly not looking worried at all. As the bird approached her she calmly raised a single hand.
Her expression was unreadable. It showed no emotion. The bird seeing her gesture gracefully landed on her upturned palm. Its magical light glowed softly against her skin. She had passed of course.
Everyone had expected her to.
Alina watched as more and more students around her were chosen by the white birds. She saw their faces lighting up with unrestrained happiness with pure joy.
But as the flock of birds in the sky thinned as more and more birds found their owners and none came near her the sadness that had been lingering in her heart began to swell.
It grew into a heavy crushing despair.
She had failed. She knew it.
She had done poorly on the physical tests and it had cost her everything.
There were almost no birds left now.
Eric standing beside her was also quite surprised and concerned.
He had seen how hard she had worked over the past week.
He had seen how much this opportunity meant to her. He had genuinely believed she would pass the examination. He was starting to feel disappointed for her.
Finally accepting what she believed to be her inevitable failure Alina’s shoulders slumped.
She could not hold her head up high any longer.
She lowered her gaze to the ground. She couldn’t watch the joyous celebrations of the other students anymore. It was too painful. Tears began to well up in her eyes.
They threatened to spill over and run down her cheeks. She felt a deep sadness a deep disappointment in herself. Her dream was over.
But then Eric saw it. A single solitary white bird was still in the sky. It was seemingly without a destination. It was fluttering erratically flying back and forth as if it was lost.
It then seemed to notice Eric and Alina standing there together away from the celebrating crowds. It began to fly directly towards them.
The bird stopped a short distance from Alina. It hovered in mid-air. Its luminous white wings were beating silently. It was as if it were observing her.
A spark of hope a small glimmer ignited within Eric. He gently nudged Alina’s shoulder with his elbow. His voice was urgent but quiet so only she could hear. "Alina," he said directing her attention towards the hovering bird. "Alina look. Look up."
Hearing Eric’s voice Alina slowly raised her head. Her vision was blurred by the unshed tears in her eyes. Her gaze fell upon the single white bird. freēnovelkiss.com
It was still suspended in the air right in front of her.
The moment her eyes met the bird’s gaze it seemed to make its decision. It darted forward quickly. And it settled gently on top of her head.
Alina froze. She didn’t move a muscle. A look of utter shock and complete disbelief was on her face.
She couldn’t believe it. Was this real? Had she... had she really passed the examination? Was she truly going to be admitted to the famous United Academy? It felt like a dream.
It felt like an impossible wonderful dream. A part of her was terrified that this was all a mistake.
She was scared that the bird had landed on her head by accident.
She feared it would soon fly away seeking its true recipient. And it would leave her with only a fleeting moment of false hope. But the bird remained.
It stayed on her head. Its soft warm light was a comforting gentle weight.
It was real.
Professor White seeing that almost all the white birds had now reached their designated students once again used his magic to amplify his voice.
He needed to make his final announcement. "These students here," he announced his voice booming across the field
"are the students of this year’s incoming class! You are the future of the United Academy! All of you who have been chosen by a white bird you must remain here! The rest of you all those who were not chosen you may now return to your respective kingdoms! Those who have passed our Academy staff members will come to you shortly. They will escort you to your new quarters your new homes within the Academy."
With that final pronouncement with those final words of success for some and failure for others the professor turned.
With a graceful movement he flew back towards the main Academy building.
His task for the day was completed. He had delivered the news.
The entrance examinations were officially over. For Eric and Alina a new Chapter was about to begin.
