I'm Trapped Inside a Prince as the Most Powerful Entity-Chapter 144: A Week’s Reprieve
Chapter 144: A Week’s Reprieve
Hearing the Principal’s final validating words his public agreement with the Emperor Adam simply smiled.
He looked up at the old man on the stage. "Thank you very much Principal for granting me this much leeway," he said.
His voice was respectful but it was also filled with an unshakeable confidence that was almost startling.
"Within one week the Emperor’s signature will be in my possession. The document will be here officially sanctioning our new group. I give you my personal guarantee." He made it sound like a simple task a small errand he had to run.
The Principal took a deep breath. A flicker of amusement showed in his ancient eyes. He was clearly intrigued by this boy’s incredible self-assurance.
He then turned his attention to the entire student body in the vast auditorium.
His voice once again resonated throughout the hall reaching every corner.
"I want to make this clear to all students here today," he announced.
His gaze swept over the four factions of upperclassmen the Red Blue Black and Golden groups his eyes lingering on them for a moment.
"The new group The New Warriors which has not yet been permanently established is not to be harassed by any of you for this one week. It is not yet fully formed so you will leave them be. There will be no attacks no intimidation. This is a period of truce."
This was a subtle but very clear warning to everyone. The Principal knew that the four established groups would not allow a new rival faction to form easily.
He knew they would use any means necessary to stop it.
This included enlisting the help of sympathetic professors teachers who favored their groups to crush this nascent rebellion before it could grow.
The Principal’s words did not take away the power of the student groups themselves. But they served as a clear directive a direct order to all the faculty present.
The message was simple stay out of this for now.
The professors on the stage understood perfectly.
For this one week they would treat Eric and his new followers as any other new students.
If by some miracle this boy managed to get the Emperor’s personal signature and the group became official then they would be treated as any other new faction.
They would be subject to the same challenges and rivalries that already existed between all the established groups. But for now they were protected.
The United Academy’s internal politics were a complex web. It was a tangle of alliances and enmities that had existed for generations.
Every established group had professors and teachers who favored them and helped them behind the scenes. And they also had others who were opposed to them professors who favored their rival groups.
No single student group held sway over the entire faculty.
The influence of each faction was balanced against the others.
This created a precarious yet stable equilibrium a balance of power within the school. Adam by attempting to create a new group was threatening to upset this delicate balance.
And the Principal knew that even if he did manage to get the Emperor’s signature he and his new group would face immense difficulties in the future.
The other factions would not make it easy for them.
Yet the Principal much like the Emperor had glimpsed the boy’s incredible potential.
He understood that Adam—this boy "Eric"—was deliberately concealing the true extent of his power.
He was not showing everything he was capable of. This was a wise if surprising trait in one so young.
It meant the boy was not just powerful he was also smart and calculating.
He was aware that revealing his full strength all at once would make him a target for everyone. Not just within the Academy but far beyond its protective walls.
It would draw unwanted attention from other powerful people and kingdoms in the world.
The Principal his decision now made and announced looked towards the assembled professors on the stage. "I hereby conclude this induction program," he announced formally.
"All of you are dismissed. You are free to introduce yourselves to one another and to your new students. The new academic year has officially begun."
With that final pronouncement the Principal turned and walked off the stage. He disappeared through the same large door he had entered earlier. The official welcoming ceremony was finally over.
Adam his part in the grand spectacle now finished sat back down in his seat in the front row. He was completely relaxed as if nothing out of the ordinary had just happened.
As he sat down he glanced over at Void who was sitting beside him. The wide amused smile that had been plastered on Void’s face throughout the entire tense ordeal had vanished.
It was completely gone. It was replaced by a look of serious intense contemplation.
Void was clearly thinking very hard about what he had just seen Adam do and say. Kado who was sitting next to him was also uncharacteristically quiet.
His usual defiant scowl was replaced by a look of deep troubled thought. He was staring at Eric or the person he thought was Eric trying to make sense of the boy he had so readily dismissed just yesterday. He couldn’t figure him out at all.
Adam looked at both of them. He could see their confusion their surprise their deep thoughts. "I know what you’re both thinking about," he said his voice low so only they could hear him in the now noisy auditorium.
Void turned to him. His expression was grim very serious.
"I will be honest with you Eric," he said. "I have never met the Emperor myself. I have only heard stories about him. But from everything I have ever heard from all the legends and all the rumors obtaining his signature... it will not be easy. It will be almost impossible for a student."
"I agree with him," Kado added his voice a low grumble. He looked at Adam with a worried expression.
"The Emperor doesn’t just sign things for anyone especially not for a first-year student who is trying to break a hundred-year-old tradition at his own Academy. This is a very difficult task."
Adam simply nodded. He was not worried in the slightest.
"When I formed this group," he stated his voice calm and resolute completely certain
"I made a promise to everyone who joined. I said that I would protect this group no matter what happens. The responsibility of obtaining the signature of getting the Emperor’s approval... that responsibility is also mine. And mine alone." His words left no room for argument or for offers of help.
The burden was his and he would bear it. He did not need their help for this. He would handle it himself. This was his challenge to overcome.
