I'm Trapped Inside a Prince as the Most Powerful Entity-Chapter 145: A Challenge
Chapter 145: A Challenge
Void was certain that Adam somehow would accomplish this seemingly impossible task.
From what little he had seen of "Eric" so far he knew that this entity was famous for doing the unexpected.
The sheer audacity the unbelievable courage coupled with the overwhelming power he had just witnessed was enough to convince Void.
Getting the Emperor’s signature was not outside the realm of possibility for this strange being. He believed Adam could do it.
Adam’s attention however shifted from Void and the immense task that now stood before him. His gaze swept across the auditorium. It landed on Monica who was seated a short distance away in the front row of her section.
She was staring at him. Her expression was a complex mixture of shock anger and a grudging undeniable curiosity. She didn’t know what to think of him. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
Adam remembered her then. This was the girl who had so easily overpowered Eric in the palace garden. He had no interest in fighting her. In his eyes she wasn’t even a worthy opponent.
Adam could see that Monica while powerful by normal mortal standards was also incredibly stubborn and immature when it came to her own strength. She possessed a degree of power yes.
But she was arrogant about it.
She was prideful of a capability that in Adam’s grand view of things was insignificant.
And Adam had no tolerance for such things.
To be arrogant about a power that was not absolute to be prideful when you were not the strongest in the world... in Adam’s eyes that just made you a fool. And fools held no value for him. They were not worth his time.
His gaze then shifted from Monica to the girl sitting a few seats down from her Alina. He saw that there was no surprise on Alina’s face. She knew that this was Adam not Eric.
She understood what was happening.
But her expression was not one of relief that he was in control or awe at his power. It was one of deep gnawing worry.
It was a concern for herself for the path she had now chosen by joining his group a path fraught with unimaginable danger.
Adam could see that something was eating away at her. He knew that Alina was not a girl who worried easily. Yet now her anxiety was a palpable aura a strong feeling around her.
She was very scared.
Adam tore his attention away from Alina.
He looked back towards the stage. His gaze was met by a professor he had not noticed before. She was a woman with striking violet-colored hair.
She appeared to be in her mid-thirties though she possessed a youthful almost timeless beauty.
Her name was Margaret. And she was one of the highest-ranking and most influential professors in the entire United Academy.
It was well-known among the students that she favored the Golden Group. She acted as their unofficial patron and their mentor. She helped them.
This powerful professor was now standing before him. She had descended from the stage while his attention was elsewhere.
Margaret was looking at Adam with a curious smile. Adam simply looked back at her. He did not stand up. He did not show any particular sign of respect. He remained seated in his chair his posture relaxed almost casual.
"Professor Margaret," he said his voice calm and unbothered "is there something I can help you with?"
A slow intrigued smile spread across Margaret’s face.
"I like you boy," she said her voice smooth and melodic. "You have courage. That is why I am going to give you a task a challenge."
Adam was a little surprised by this. He had not yet fully adjusted to the Academy. Yet he was already being assigned tasks by one of its most powerful faculty members.
Margaret then raised a hand. She pointed a single elegant finger to the side. Adam followed her gesture. He saw that she was pointing directly at Monica the Emperor’s daughter who was still seated in her chair.
"I want you, Eric," Professor Margaret said her voice now carrying a note of challenge "to fight my most promising student Monica. If you win, if you can defeat her in a fair fight, I will begin to personally teach your new group as well. I will give them the same attention the same resources and the same guidance that I currently give to the Golden Group."
Monica’s eyes widened at her mentor’s words. A surge of pure unadulterated excitement coursed through her.
Now she understood! The fight in the garden her easy victory over Eric... it had been a fluke.
Eric hadn’t been fighting her seriously at all. A bitter taste filled her mouth.
The thought that she hadn’t truly overpowered him but that he had deliberately held back against her was a profound blow to her immense pride.
She now felt a desperate need to prove herself.
She needed to reaffirm her position as the strongest most talented student in the entire Academy. Professor Margaret’s challenge was the perfect opportunity to do just that.
Adam however looked from Professor Margaret to the now eager-looking Monica. And then he looked back to Margaret. A small dismissive smile touched his lips.
It was a smile that held no warmth at all. "I have no interest," he stated coolly his voice calm and flat "in fighting this weak girl."
His words spoken clearly and calmly for all to hear reached Monica’s ears.
Her excitement her eagerness to fight instantly vanished.
It was replaced by a flash of pure unadulterated rage. She shot to her feet.
Her chair scraped loudly against the stone floor. She stomped over to stand beside Professor Margaret. Her eyes were blazing with fury as she glared down at Adam who was still sitting calmly in his chair.
"How dare you," she hissed her voice trembling with anger with deep humiliation.
"How dare you call me weak!" Her pride had been wounded again even more deeply this time.
And her pride demanded retribution. It demanded a fight. She had to prove him wrong.
