'What in the hell is this!??'

In the first few moments after the Leading Figures of the Nightmarescape Invasion entered the Land of Beginnings, a massive burst of energy engulfed them and the rest of the sky. It radiated with the destructive energies of all the full-powered Soul Emperors, as well as an all-out attack from Cassius.

The result?

Complete and total annihilation.

Without even receiving the time necessary to properly react, each and every single Nightmare King and Emperor was reduced to nothingness. Body. Mind. Soul. Spirit. All destroyed.

Even their life-preserving measures, which should've prevented them from permanently dying, failed them.

The Essence of the Origin Progenitor was simply too broken. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

They died—and weren't coming back to life.

However, they weren't the only ones…

"So… This is the end…"

Of the Soul Emperors that risked everything to go all out, Salar was the only one still alive. But even he was only hanging on by a thread, with his existence in the gradual process of disintegration.

"You know, I've wanted this moment to come for as long as I could remember…" Salar murmured as his eyes dimmed. "But… but I can't help but wonder if I actually wished to do it, or if I had just gone crazy…"

Turning his half-melted face in Cassius's direction, Soul Emperor Salar's gaze filled with pity.

"You won't understand now what it truly means to live the life of an Immortal Being, but you will… One day, you'll understand," he mumbled. "J-Just be careful… Don't let it get to you like it got to me… I…"

Salar wanted to say something else, but realizing that his time was up, he simply smiled while looking straight up.

"Finally… I'm free…"

Those were the last things he said before his existence finished disintegrating. The residual embers of what he was drifted into the winds, ultimately dissipating in the void.

"...."

For some reason, what Soul Emperor Salar told him in his final moments stuck with Cassius.

It hurt…

He didn't know why it did, but it did.

"It hurts so much…"

Looking up where Salar had, Cassius's expression turned unreadable. Shadows covered his face, making it impossible for even Arthur Pendragon to guess what he was feeling.

*Ding!*

[You have slain hundreds of Nightmare Kings and Nightmare Emperors, acquiring the maximum amount of Nightmare Essence possible!]

[Your Slayer Cultivation has advanced from 'Low-rank Transcendent' to 'Half-step Beyond Transcendent']

[Your Godforce has been multiplied by dozens of times what it once was!]

[Your existence has officially evolved to the 'Half-step Beyond Godlike' state, and has continued to evolve even further, surpassing all Mortal Boundaries!]

[You have slain over a dozen Soul Emperors, absorbed them, and improved your own Azura Devourer Cultivation!]

[You have ascended from a 'Mid-rank Azura Emperor' to a 'Half-step Beyond Azura Emperor']

[Your Godforce increased by leaps and bounds!]

[As you have achieved a near Quintessential state of being, your Godforce has combined with your Unity to form 'God Unity']

[God Unity has an upper limit of Infinity to the power of Mortality, with no quantifiable numerical evaluator. Understanding how much your God Unity has progressed is more of a feeling or instinct that can't be put into words]

[Because of your state of being achieving near Quintessence, your Origin Progenitor Bloodline has done the same]

[You are one step closer to reaching perfection…]

Almost right away, Cassius realized that he no longer emitted any sort of aura. It was the same for his Lilith and Mora, as all three of them now appeared ethereal and unfathomable.

FWIP!

"You've evolved to a point where even I don't know what I'm looking at anymore."

Arthur Pendragon's voice and appearance did not startle Cassius, for he already knew Arthur was there long before he revealed himself. In fact, he knew everything.

His very existence had entangled itself with all that there was in these Three Worlds. Whether it be the smallest of ants or a member of the mythical Cyclops Race in hiding, he could sense, feel, and understand it all.

It was a level of semi-omniscience exceeding even Arthur Pendragon's, and stemmed solely from his existence being too large for the Three Major Worlds to contain. He was like a tub of water dumped into a smaller terrarium, with each particle of water capable of transmitting detection signals back to the thing keeping all the water together.

"As you are now, you should know the truth of this World without me even having to tell you…" Arthur Pendragon sighed, though felt a sense of freedom over no longer needing to share this burden alone. "What the Supreme Scholars—those foolish beings—believed, it was all true…"

Cassius didn't need to hear this, for he already knew the truth with a single thought. However, he still let Arthur say what he wanted.

"These Worlds… This Reality…" Arthur paused dramatically. "They aren't real… None of this is… real…"

Cassius felt like he had heard this somewhere before.

'With May…'

He once told her the same thing in the Infinite Character Development Dimension.

How ironic for history to repeat itself with him…

"Although it has no official name, this Reality with boundaries disguised as limitless is referred to as the 'Eternal Dream,'" Arthur continued, using his virtually infinite energy to surround him and Cassius in a simulated motion picture showing the truth of everything. "When this world first began, it was little more than a thought. A thought that I believe was imagined by a higher being from a plane of reality incomparable to our own."

'The System…'

"This thought—" Arthur opened his hands, causing the blank simulation picture to explode in a bright array of colors that swirled and coalesced in three different spots. "Is what formed the Three Worlds. The Land of Beginnings. The Nightmarescape. And the Netherworld. And together, they created a fully-functioning Universe."

"But that doesn't change the fact that… we're just byproducts of a higher entity's imagination…"

Arthur's voice turned complex, with his emotions a large jumble of impossible-to-understand feelings…
