Information to Mastery: Points Store System-Chapter 278: Shock
"Can you stop speaking nonsense? If you don’t speak, nobody is going to say that you are dumb." Kate retorted with a frown on her face.
She really wanted to ask Lina about what Michael had talked about, but she decided against it. Even though the two of them were quite close, they really did not know each other that deeply.
They had only met on the way to the training camp, and although they usually made stories, none of the two were completely open with each other.
But at least, within the entire training camp, the two of them shared the best relationship as compared to with other recruits.
The issue that Michael had mentioned was something that seemed to be quite sensitive. And for that reason, Kate was extremely hesitant on having another person know about it, when she herself was unsure about what was going to happen.
If mentioning something like this ended up causing trouble for Michael, she would definitely regret it. So, she decided not to mention it, but she would definitely have to try and see if she could find any clues about it.
"Okay, okay, I was just kidding. Anyway, is there something on your mind? If you can share, I am more than willing to listen, and maybe I can help you out?" Lina raised her hands in form of surrender, as she said.
To this, Kate only shook her head as she said, "There is no need to bother you about this. Don’t worry, it is nothing big."
Lina of course understood that Kate did not want to talk to her about this issue. So, she decided not to say anything either.
...
Time flashed, and it was already 30th of September.
The break that was given to the recruits usually allowed them to be out of the training camp during the day, but they would be brought back to the camp in the evening.
Since the break lasted 2 days, the previous day, Kate had also gone to the city. She was not sure if it was close to the training camp or not, but the probability was quite high.
Those 2 days, she could not allow herself to relax. While walking around the city, she was usually paying attention to the conversations and the news, just to see if there was anything like what Michael had mentioned before.
Unfortunately, everything seemed normal. At least, until now, there was nothing that seemed to be out of place.
During the past 2 days, Kate had been getting restless. During the time that they were back in the camp, she had been paying much more attention, and just like Lina, she thought about listening to the conversations of the other recruits.
Unfortunately, her sense of hearing was not that good, at least not as compared to how Lina claims hers is. In the end, because she had to avoid being too close to those that she was listening in to, she could not get much information.
But from what she had heard, there was nothing related to what Michael had mentioned previously. This was something that left her unsure.
Was it possible that what Michael had mentioned back then was just a casual chat that he brought up? She still found it hard to believe.
"Attention all recruits! You are required to gather at the main building immediately! Those who do not do so within 2 minutes will be punished!"
A loud announcement suddenly rang through the entire training camp, startling everyone.
Today, unusually, despite them not going out, they did not have any training sessions. And, they did not know about the fact that an announcement like this could be made.
At least, during the time that they were within this training camp, this was the first time that they had heard an announcement being made like this.
Despite the surprise, the 25 recruits immediately rushed towards the main building. That was where the instructor and several other people usually stayed.
It was a building that was quite a distance away from the dormitories, and was most of the time, restricted from the recruits going close.
At the moment, it was still in the morning, around 8. The group had woken up long ago, which was due to the continued routine of waking up early for over a month.
Unfortunately, even after they had woken up, there was nothing that they could do apart from moving around. Though, some of them had been doing some simple stretching exercises and so on, as though they are warming up, preparing for the strenuous exercises.
Each of the recruits understood the punishment that would be given in this place. And, it was hell. If someone did a mistake, they would usually be punished by doing extra training.
Not to mention the regular training that usually drains them completely by the end of it, being asked to do more, those who were unlucky, they really wanted to quit.
Had it not been for the fact that they understood that this was a rare opportunity, they would really have decided to leave this place. Well, another reason was that, they did not really know if they would be allowed to leave or not.
The issue regarding Evan leaving was something that happened because of his indiscipline. If not for the fact that he had started a fight, which was against the rules, most probably, he would have been punished with extra training, instead of being dismissed from the training camp.
Within 2 minutes, each recruit had already arrived in front of the main building, and lined up according to their numbers.
Each recruit was given a number, which was based on their arrival on the training camp. Kate was number 17, and Lina was number 18.
The 25 of them currently were in five rows of five person on each row.
And as they stood in front of the three story building, they all respectfully gazed towards the entrance, waiting for the instructor to come out.
Even though neither of them knew how strong the instructor was, one thing was clear to them, the instructor was extremely strong, way stronger than any of them.
Additionally, there was this sense of intimidation around him, making it impossible for the recruits to defy him.
The recruits did not know much about the instructor, apart from his name that was Peter. They did not have much over an interaction with him apart from during the time that they were in training.
While the group was waiting, from the building, several figures stepped out. One of them was familiar to Kate, as it was the exact person that had invited her to join NEXUS.
This guy, Kate had not seen him ever since the day that he had left her to be picked up by the helicopter, the same day that she had met with Lina.
No, with his appearance here, it was clear that there was something big going to happen. She was not clear about what it was, but she thought about what Michael had mentioned before.
Despite what she was thinking about, she understood one thing, she had to do as she was told. That was exactly what Michael had told her before.
At this moment, as the other recruits looked at Richard Theodore, who was walking in front of Peter, they could not help but be puzzled.
From the way that they were at the moment, it was clear that this person held a higher position as compared to Peter. This left them wondering, what kind of position did this person have?
Just by looking at him, he did not look as intimidating as Peter. After all, he only had a medium build, but apart from the compact muscles that were exposed from his short-sleeved gray t-shirt, there was nothing else that indicated that this middle-aged man was powerful.
Not everyone had been recruited by Richard Theodore. Only a few of them had seen him, as he had personally invited them to join the organization.
But unlike Kate, who already knew that this person was the leader of NEXUS, they thought that this was just a person who held a position within the organization, a slightly higher position as compared to an instructor.
Despite them not being clear about what kind of organization this was, they knew that it wasn’t simple. Most of them had made guesses that this might be a secret organization of the government.
As for if that was true or not, it was something that they would have to wait until the day that they were informed about the organization, to be sure about it.
As Peter and Richard approached the group, they stopped in front of them. Richard began observing the group, with his gaze making several people feel a chill running down their spines.
They were not clear about this kind of sensation, but they felt that this person was extremely dangerous as he looked at them. This was an instinctual feeling...
After Richard observed the group for a while, he did not say anything, as he gazed at Peter, who nodded and stepped forward.
"The physical training that you have been undergoing was just to make sure that everyone was in their peak condition. So, you should know, you have noted officially began training." Peter spoke loudly, his voice indifferent.
But, his words sent waves within the group of recruits. While none of them spoke up, there was turmoil in their minds and hearts.
Previously, they thought that they had already begun training. But now, it turned out that this was just warming up? How crazy was this?
Peter did not seem to care about what kind of thoughts this group of recruits was having, as he continued, "I would like to let you know that tomorrow, there is going to be a combat assessment. And during the combat assessment, only those who pass the assessment will move on to the next stage, and officially start training."
